  1. Nice job Steve. You are getting "fish fingers" for Christmas.
  2. I like the scotty pinch pad releases with the cable clamp. Lower your down rigger to the desired depth and the stacker clamps right on.
  3. Thanks guys. Sure felt good to set the hooks into something.
  4. Finally had soft water and headed out to Port Bay on Saturday to tow the boat home. Spent the rest day rigging her and getting ready to fish. Left the dock at about 7:00 on Sunday morning with my buddy Steve and fished until 11:00. Started out running 4 sticks and two riggers dragging spoons. Found the cookie cutters pretty quick and after some fast action left them alone and went searching for some better fish. Found a pattern that produced some bigger Browns and worked it for a couple hours. Wanted to bring home some meat so we boxed our 6 and headed for home. Enjoyed a beautiful morning and hot fishing with a good friend. Looking forward to another hot spring in the Bay. Good fishing Glen
  5. Now you need them fingers Big Dave.
  6. You don't need them fingers. LOL
  7. Naw, Don't need to. They are what they are.
  8. I see by the early reports some of you freakin guys could really use these. LOL
  9. Have taken several brown fishing in Mexico Bay
  10. Obviously check all connections including the inline fuse holder I have had trouble with corrosion on the contacts and make sure you have a good fresh 9 volt in the probe. Find somebody else that has a subtroll and one by one substitute your components until you find the problem. I would start with the cable that runs from the antenna cable to the head unit as I have had the connection inside the plugs break on me. Took quite awhile to find that one but those soldered joints are kinda flimsy and are subject to stress while plugging in and unplugging the cable. Next substitute the probe and finally the head unit. Good luck
  11. Don't know how long you will be up for but if your new I would suggest booking a Charter for the early part of your stay. That would cut your learning curve and make the rest of your stay a lot more productive and enjoyable. Gearing up to cover all the different presentations is very expensive. Your riggers will get your lures to the required depth and take fish, period. If you wanted to add a new presentation, by fishing with an expert you would see what to buy and take the guess work out of the equation. All the shops in the area will stock everything you would want to add. Best of luck. Glen
  12. It's impossible to tell you where those fish will be as it all depends on the winds moving the water temps around. I've taken fish from 10 fow to 100 fow at that time of year. Just be prepared to fish. Under normal circumstances I would say an average of 40 to 60 fow would be a good bet and you probably won't be flat lining sticks on the surface. But stranger things have happened.
  13. LOL. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
  14. The 80 lb test break away cable is reliable as long as your rigger cable doesn't have any bad spots. Thats what it's there for. Sacrifice a weight and save your probe. Don't matter if you have a line attached or running it alone, it's still in the water so why not drag a lure off it?
  15. Do it yourself. If you don't feel confident I'm in Mexico next weekend. I'll show you how.
  16. I run about 16 Tekota 600lc's. Heavy use and I love um. Just got to re grease the drag washers every two or three years and no issues at all. Great reel.
  17. Diawa Sealine 47lc's are a good reliable reel for about a hundred bucks. I run the 27's on my Brown rods and a couple 47's on my braid diver rod. Very good middle of the road reel that will serve you well and the 47's have plenty of line capacity for Kings good luck with your decision.
  18. Acetone
  19. Yes. Don't know anything about a Lowrance AP but my Simrad controlled both a 200 Yamy and the 15 hp kicker without an issue.
  20. How could this be? I read here they use junk reel seats on the Talora.
  21. Quite often these early spring Browns will be more active during the afternoon bite than the morning bite. A day of bright sun will warm those surface waters and shallows by a couple of degrees and these fish get active. Good luck with your recovery and those Browns.
  22. The manual Scottys were sweet as well Tim. I started with two manuals and two electrics in 1994. In fact the manuals out performed any other manual on the market with 2 ft of retrieve per revolution of the horizontal spools and the handles on top of the spool made for easy cranking. Haven't encountered any problems with the "poor design" yet but it's only been a couple of decades since I started running them. Maybe next year.
