They are Land Locked Atlantic Salmon. Period. Sebago Lake in Maine was one of the first lakes to support a naturally reproducing Land Lock Salmon. Or so I been told. Fish from Sebago were stocked in many different lakes. Should find a lot of information on this topic by doing a search on the internet. Glen

Yankee troller is dead on. The 47's are overkill for Browns. Way to much line capacity you don't need. The 27's are fine Brown trout reels. I run Diawa Sealine SG27's and had a few of the Accudepth plus 27's for spares. Now with the 3 rod rule, I have been running the Accudepths last season and they do the job but I prefer the Sealines. A friend of mine rigged up a couple Ugly Stick light action down rigger rods with Shimano Tekota 500 LC's late last season. What a sweet combination that is. Wish I had the cash to justify the upgrade. I'd do it in a second. Good luck. Glen

In June of 2011 the Senate voted overwhelmingly to end the billions of dollars of ethanol subsidies that was set to end at the end of the year. The Obama administration vowed not to end it. They are giving an already incredibly lucrative industry, 45 cents of our tax dollars per gallon. Guess what...They didn't end. If you are concerned with the direction the country is headed you only have one tool to stop it and thats your vote. If you don't vote this coming November then don't ****. Good fishing. Glen

Okuma classic pro MH for rods with 30 lb test Ande for attractors and flies. Shimano Tolaras for rods with 30 lb test necked down to a 20 lb flourocarbon leader for spoons and plugs. Shimano Tekota 600LC's for reels on all. This is for Salmon. 8' 3" light action Shakespear ugly stick downrigger rods teamed up with Diawa Sealine 27's with 8 lb test for Browns. All the above gear has served me well. No complaints. Glen

Otter boats or boards?
spoonfed-1 replied to fishless's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Hey pretty good memory there Ice. Turns out I used a little bit of Gorilla glue where the small piece broke off and good as new. Still going strong in 6 and 7 footers pulling 500 and 600 feet of copper. Glen -

How early to venture out for browns?

You are correct in your concerns. Particularly the fuel consumption and especially about keeping the hours off a big dollar main motor. I would go with a larger main motor like a 200 hp and a kicker. Good luck. I wouldn't mind having to make that decision. Glen

Swivels and spoons!
spoonfed-1 replied to alex1young's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Definatley use a snap swivel with a spoon. Otherwise your line will twist up like crazy. Tie the snap swivel to the end of your line and connect the spoon to the snap swivel. I don't use a leader unless I am running heavy line. Then I will attach the leader to the main line using a small barrel swivel and tie the snap swivel to the end of the leader. -
If the cost is the same or close, and the quality is the same, I would go for a dark, non reflective cable. Certainly can't hurt. I never saw that color option when I went to buy replacement cable and I don't want to run braid. Glen

Now that the three rod per angler law has been in effect for the better part of last season, what is everybody's opinion? Lets hear it positive or negative. Personally I like it. I usually only have 2 people on the boat, sometimes three and very rarely four, and only get up to the lake on the weekends. With only two or three on board, running the extra rods was definitely a benefit. It allowed me to nail down a good productive spread much quicker which in turn increased our catch numbers. When the fish were few and far between and spread out, again the extra rods increased our catch rate. When we were on fish most of the time I didn't run the extra rods or at least not all of them but when the fishing was tough the extra rods were always in the water and they most definitely helped. All in all I give the law a two thumbs up. What do you think? Good fishing Glen

2012 Pro-Am Changes? Rumor?
spoonfed-1 replied to SCREAMER 1's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
If I remember correctly, the proams used to have a pretty good turn out every year. When these friggin guys started changing rules is when the tournament participation started to dwindle. Seems to me changing rules is what changed the "tournament market place" in the first place. and not for the better. I know I'm just about rule changed out, myself. I agree changes are not always bad. If a situation arises in a tournament you make changes to prevent it from happening again. If it ain't broken DON"T FIX IT, which is whats been going on here the last three years or so. Anyway just my opinion. Good fishing. Glen -
I run bearing buddys on two boat trailers. Never had a problem and I have never removed and repacked the bearings. Like mentioned, DON"T OVERFILL. Once the washer looking thing stops moving out, don't pump anymore grease in Probaly should do an inspection one of these years. Glen

Some thoughts about observing.

You are completely WRONG when it comes to making sure there are no legal fish thrown back that by tournament rules have to be kept. Glen
