  1. Love my Tekato 600LC's. Glen
  2. Congratulations!!! Thats a keeper. Glen
  3. Good luck to you Tom. Kinda makes me happy I'm in the am division and I can just mind my own business and FISH. Sounds like theres a lot more going on than I care to deal with. Glen
  4. Happy B day Rick. Glen
  5. Wow. Does that mean there won't be any teams representing Atomic this year Tom? Glen
  6. Thanks for the kind words Matt. You guys aren't to shabby either. LOL Only reason I got involved in this topic and stated my opinion is because we often forget there are new guys reading this board. I'm sure there are guys that are thinking about fishing their first tournament. I would hate to have even one guy not enter a proam and experience all there is to fishing a quality tournament because a post on a message board says they don't stand a chance because of an open communicatiuon rule. I could see that happening after reading this topic and not knowing any better. I don't like the rule but I'm proof it ain't going to stop you from winning a tournament. Fishing the proams is fishing like I never new existed and if your thinking about or wondering about what it would be like to fish one, jump right in and do it. You won't be sorry. See you out in Niagara Matt. Glen
  7. I don't know guys. Thrillseeker,Cold Steel and Top Gun are consistantly on top of the pro division. Awful lot of checks being cashed between those three teams. Is it because they are the best fisherman on the lake (which boils down to consistantly producing and the ability to overcome adverse conditions) or is it because of open communication? Seems like they were on top BEFORE open communication was allowed. Personally, I believe it's because they are dam good fishermen. I'm a strong advocate of Karma, and those guys that are playing the grey area of the rules won't get it done in the end. Particularly in a two day, four leg event. That being said it's a shame the rule was forced down the throats of the majority of participants and I agree with alot of whats been said. I still think the proams are the best test of a fishermens ability. Much more than a Salmon only, five or six fish, one day event as you need to decide, adapt and box the fish you think will put you on top. You need to put it together for the first day and keep it together for 2 days straight. Not an easy thing to do with the changing lake conditons that often occur. Glen
  8. I also am against open communication as well. However, it is a choice as to whether you communicate or not. For the most part I choose NOT TO during the tournament and if I do it's to my friend on the pro side Brian and Marlene on the Tall Tails boat. AND I can say I have never changed my spread OR location because of on the water communication with Brian and his better half Marlene. Brian and I run VERY different programs that work for each of us and I'm sure not going to experiment on Tourament day. I just fish hard and if I'm in the hole I fish harder. Some days you just don't get um. Sucks but thats fishing I could care less how somebody else is doing when I'm out there. In my division or not. All I'm focused on is getting those fish in the box. Seems to work OK for us. Not good to see you go Matt but you got to do what you got to do. Good luck in the Tournaments you do fish. Remember you have a choice. If you don't want to communicate don't answere the phone..... Or dial it. I definately prefer no communication but far as I'm concerned the proam structure makes for a great Tournament. It's just another obstacle you got to overcome. Glen
  9. I run a Subtroll and it does everything I need it to do. Running it for about 7 years now. Had one bad probe in that time. Owned a Fish Hawk 840 and had to replace the probe and the head unit in about 4 years time. Really hated the day and a half battery life as well. Liked the unit when it worked except for the battery thing. Reason I bought the subtroll was the battery life. Don't have any experience with the new X4 except a couple of looks at the price tag. Pricey, but I've been reading good reports on it but also a couple of problems from a couple different people on this site. Good luck Glen
  10. I'm with longline on this. I'll fish 2 riggers when fishing alone and if I'm marking fish and am not catching what I should be I'll get a different presentation in the water such as wire dipsy or a Thumper rod or copper. Probably 80-90% of the time I can get my riggers going though. Good luck Glen
  11. You got it Cornelis. I'll call you after work today.
  12. Want to learn big lake fishing and get paid to do it? Looking for an observer to join Team Spoonfed for the proams. Pay $100.00 for the weekend. 2 days of prefishing and lodging if needed. Post or pm if interested. Thanks Glen
  13. No wind. Thats the side of his head that faces the truck window.
  14. Richard started talking about taxidermists. I started talking about frying pans. We tossed him back....minus his sides.
  15. Got the Tournament team together on Sat morning and headed out on the lake. Water temps in the Bay were not to great with alot of cold water so we headed out of there. Turned out to be a good decision as as soon as we were reading decent temps we set up and Bang, doubled up. Both rods that went were on Rods side of the boat so he grabbed the first one and Richard took the second. Rodney boated a nice healthy Brown and Richard took a dandy Brown at about 13 lbs, his biggest to date. Next fish was another nice one at about 10. Really good quality fish. Ended the day with a sweet box of 9 and 15 or 16 bites plus a few nice smallmouths Regular Brown stuff was working, sticks on the boards and spoons off the riggers. Heres some pictures of Richards trout. Go fishin. Glen
  16. Earlier in the year, mid march to mid April, a good 1/3 of our fish were marked or had eels attached. Much higher percentage on fish better than 9 lbs. Really a shame. As the month of april came to an end and the fish numbers in the Bay increased the percentage has dropped. Still to dam many though. Glen
  17. I run the Diawa Sealine27. Picked up a couple of Accudepth plus 27's and they work. The Sealines are a much better reel for the extra $30.00. Glen
  18. Big ol Laker. Congrats. Glen
  19. Lure is usually about 40-60 feet behing the board. The board takes your offerings away from the boat, eliminating the need for long leads. Glen
  20. My small inline boards that I run my Trout lures off are fixed. I want to get some enjoyment out of a 5 lb Brown without pulling in a board for the entire battle. Glen
  21. A southeast wind won't be a problem fishing tight to shore out of Oswego. West will. They are usually hitting Browns in the Harbor at this time of year. Should be OK in the Harbor. Glen
  22. Very sorry to hear of your problems Sean. I am with the majority here as far as fighting tooth and nail to get them to uphold their end of the deal. Definately get some legal advice from your friends and make some noise at Yamaha. A lot of noise. Go public using every tool available and let Yamaha know about it. They really don't want bad publicity. The squeaky wheel always gets the grease. Best of luck. Glen
