Didn't want it to appear like nobody wanted to answere your question but I keep both on the boat so wasn't 100% sure what that specific law was. Rather say nothing than put up inaccurate information. Glen

Another additional fee would suck but lets face it everything is going up. An increase to benefit the fishery that we all care about and enjoy is better than most that we are subjected to in todays world. Take taxes for instance. I fish the lake on an average of 60 days a year. At ten bucks that comes out to about 17 cents per trip. I would rather give my money up to maintain and improve the fishery than to the government to support their insane spending or to the oil companys to overfill their pockets with profits. I still would like more information on this increase as I was under the impression the license increase was put through in place of this. Anybody steer me in the right direction to get more information? Tom or Larry? Thanks Glen

Hope your winter is going well Brian. Glen

Larry from what I was told when I purchased my license, the license increase this season, from $40.00 to $70.00 for non resident is supposed to offset this additional fee. Just have to wait and see. Never know when it comes to money. Glen

Thanks again for your time Tom Glen

Has Been. I called you a hypocrite way back here on page 2. Just did it tactfully. This was right after your rant about all the dead fish the three rod rule would cause. Remember that rant? Thats the one were after going on and on about the dead fish I copied and pasted your statement about going 36 for 54 with 3 guys and 4 rods. Just thought I would refresh your memory as it seems to be pretty selective in your old age. Glen

Well there goes about 3 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

Thanks for locating those FACTS for us Longline. I took a look last night and couldn't locate them in the time I had. If these FACTS pointed in the other direction I'm quite sure they would be good enough for those that want to argue them now. Without a doubt that is what I see going on on the lake or to word it more accurately my opinion. I hope we can do something to reverse this trend. Good point Ray. I know I'll be on the phone when Tom posts that list for us. Main reason the State gives a dam about our fishery is because it generates dollars. Take those dollars out of the equation and were would we be? They couldn't support it even if a few in government wanted to. Sad but true. Has Been how can you post your crystal ball comment and then tell others not to tell you what MIGHT happen because it's based on opinion. Kinda hypocritical AGAIN. Really wish I had more time on this one but gotta work. Glen

I would have to disagree with the consistant fishing part. The economy has been in the crapper for what not even 2 years. Everything I've read and seen and heard from a couple Capts I know that have time on the lake indicates the decline in Lake fishing has been going on longer that. I'll do a little digging and see if I can locate some more solid facts on this. Never said 1 more rod will enable people to afford a trip. If you read the post I said if they catch a few fish they are much more likley to return. You miss quote me. For me my most productive spread is 6 rods. Almost never have more than 3 people on the boat. No cheaters. Generally speaking that is. Like everything else you put in the water the cheaters have their days. Don't believe there was anything in the petition about reducing lures or hook points so if it goes through you can still fish the way you want. Very much like you I haven't heard any good reasons NOT to change it. I can't speak for anybody else but I can speak for myself when it comes to the expense I go through to fish this Big Lake and there is no way I would do it to be limited to a 1 rod per like you mentioned on a lake thats close to 200 miles long. A lot of other places to go and catch fish. Not sure the guys that pound out a living out there would be to happy either. Glen

Do some research on this Chowder. Some are designed to keep your head above water should you lose conciousness or hit your head going over and get knocked out or injured and some aren't. All depends on what you are looking for but there are a variety of different applications for each type and I don't remember the specifics off hand. Stearns is a pretty good name with a good reputation. I believe I went to the Stearns websight to read about all that stuff when I bought mine. Glen

LOL Two rods out of that big ole boat you got. I don't know if you'd be able to find um. FISH ON.... Wheres the rod.... You got lots of room for tackle to.

Larry Thats all good info that I was not aware of. Just for my own education could you elaborate a little more on the actual success of that Coho planting in the last 42 years. And if that success was as hoped would you still be against the 3 rod rule? As far as the boats fishing from the first bridge isn't there laws regarding blocking a water way used for navigation already in place? Thanks for your input. Glen

Scott, How did you like the open division other than the websight thing? Have you tried clicking on the photo show on the websight? LOL Didn't do much unless I'm missing something. Glen

Are you saying there are 5360 members against the 3 rod rule? What would your position be? That IS what the topic is about if you care to discuss it. I'm all for it and believe it will do a lot more good than harm to the fishery. The 2 rod rule is now in place and it is a fact the number of people fishing the lake along with the money they bring to the fishery as well as the local econmies are on a decline. Thats doesn't seem to be good at all for the fishery because it is money that maintains the fishery as it is. Somethings got to be done to reverse this trend or the fishery as we know it will eventually be gone. Alot of guys that fish the lake do it to catch fish. If they catch a few fish they are happy and are much more likely to return particularly if they have to travel a distance to do it. A couple of trips with no fish they might not return. Not everybody on the water has the experience and ability to be able to beat up on these fish. There is also an awful lot of water for those fish to be in. Glen

Probably repeated a couple things as there were 2 posts added while I was typing. LOL Very helpful people here. Glen

All good accurate info above. The cushion type throwables are Coastguard exceptable and cover the law if they are not damaged. A ring in a smaller boat takes up space. The law requires these devices are EASILY accessible. Can't be in a storage locker. The inflatable pdfs are a bit pricey but very comfortable. If you go with the automatic inflatable it does require some maintanence as you have to keep the triggering system current, every couple years on mine. But should you go overboard and are unable to pull the cord for any reason they will inflate automatically when you hit the water. This might be a good idea if you fish alone at all. As already stated the flares have an exp. dates on them and MUST be current. Probably the best way to store them is in the original package, unopened. Glen

Chowder, A 1500 is a good chioce for a 2nd pump. I just added a 2nd pump this summer after an incident during the Sodus Proam. Rule makes a good pump and I went with a fully automatic pump. You definatley want to go with a 2nd outlet on the boat. It's not that much work just make sure you install it well above the water line. I can tell you from experience, a bad experience, you don't want to take shortcuts here. Heres the best prices I found on them. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=s ... &x=15&y=21 Glen

Well put Rod. I also started to think about what I could do to try and drum up new sponsors after reading Paul and Rays posts. Unfortunatly I just don't have an once of that salesmen kind of stuff in my entire body. LOL. Can't hurt to try I guess. Glen

So they should be pretty strong fish for their size then. Nice. Keep putting up the pictures if you would. Thanks Glen

Nice fish Stan. I'm jealous as all our ponds are frozen solid now. Thanks for the pictures as looking at fish pictures helps get me through the winter. One question. Are those native rainbows out there or are they stocked fish and if stocked how big are they when they put them in? Thanks Glen

Has Been wrote: Question. What do you do with the fish that are in bad shape once the box is full & you are in C&R mode? Well Has Been there just ain't that many days that I fill my box as I am mostly catch and release and keep a few of the rough ones for people at the campground to grill up. Or I'll keep a few if someone fishing with me or at home wants some meat. So that isn't much of an issue on my boat. In fact other than tournaments and a yearly trip out to the Niagara Bar I honestly don't remember the last time I kept a limit of Salmon. I think they taste kinda like swamp but many people that I know love them. Perhaps you should not worry about me and take a look at Has Been. Here is a statement made by you on a post from not so long ago regarding the 3 rod rule. Has Been wrote: When I did have it I ran 4 rods most of the time somtimes 6 on 4 riggers or board s or dipsys or whatever. My best day out with 3 of us was 54 fish on with 36 landed, with 2 kings apro 20, 4 rods. What did YOU do with those fish Has Been? Never mind answereing as I'm not that interested in hot air. Glen

Sure Walleyemagic. Don't take it personal. Just had alot of people disagree with that one idea. Everyones opinion counts. Glen
