  1. Most idiotic (and totally false) statement I've read on here in a long time. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. I believe the "Alaskan strain" of kings run in the summer. A summer run of kings in Lake Ontario would be a disaster and could never happen. When they selected stocking prospects the original biologists were careful to choose a "fall running" strain. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. Depends on the size of the paddle but I'm intrigued. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. 36"?? That's interesting. I've run flies that short but never meat but, if it works for you ........COOL. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. This year the fishing died around June 15th. 😩 At least for some of the whiners. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. Also DONT FORGET the One Man Fish Bowl to be held Tuesday. We will fish from 630-1130 and the entry is only $50. Hopefully the lower entry fee will encourage a few more of you to try this Oak Orchard Tradition. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  8. It's a light east wind and there is a ton of warm water. Don't look for it to flip but perhaps some cold water to move in. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. Fish the fish not the temp. If you see them 150 down you can catch them there. Keep in mind you might not have to go that deep to catch them. Kings will travel tremendous distances for the right bait at the right speed. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. Who made the rule you can't go below 100'? Fish where the fish are! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. I've been doing some research and it seems that brown trout will indeed crossbreed with anything that swims. Check this out---coming to the SR this October! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. Very interesting that they can crossbreed. However, it is still highly doubtful that a brown and an Atlantic could crossbreed in a Lake O trib given the spawning characteristics of each species and the rivers/streams in which to do it. Europe maybe but not NY. I've seen the pic of the fish and, as Rod said above, there is NOTHING "brown" about it. My guess is that a young DEC intern read the article about cross breeding in Europe and decided on her own that the fish was a hybrid. Without extensive genetic testing that conclusion is simply wrong. Just my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. What he said! I would hope the DEC wouldn't make such a ridiculous claim. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. We had a VERY good day today out of the Oak on kings and steelhead. *hint* What's a laker? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  16. Devils nose is approx 11 miles from Oak Orchard. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. Most of my solo fishing experience comes from fishing the Oak Orchard One Man Fish Bowl. I can tell you divers are tough to land fish on solo but it can be done. But given a choice I will take three riggers all run clean. Clip your net bag and pay attention to the weather. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. Don't rule out Stingray or larger sized spoons in glow and green and, of course, wonder bread. Our largest lakers have come on spoons this year and at "salmon speed". Btw there are good numbers of kings and steelhead showing up with this westerly blow. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  19. In the words of the "church lady"----- Well now......... Isn't THAT special? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. I prefer the 8' Talora in med/light when fishing spoons and the medium heavy for paddles. There isn't a better rod and the 8' makes it easy to control a fish at the back of the boat. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. Wire and copper are two different deployment devices. Wire is used in conjunction with dipsys and copper is used by itself. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. The drag of the 350 feet of mono will completely negate the 3 oz weight. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. In all honesty, call Bay Rat and talk to Kurt or Damien. They will give you the rundown on the hot walleye colors. For Browns in Lake Ontario you can find all the popular BT colors in Bay Rat right on the website. PM me if you have trouble. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. And I still remember and appreciate that info you gave me in Sodus Brian. One of the best copper tips I ever got! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
