Finding a new wife! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

If you're consistently tangling a chute copper with your divers its poor driving. If your boat is going straight while the copper is being deployed it should never see your divers. However, put some S turns in there and the copper will find a diver occasionally. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Fish release much easier in cold water. In summer not so much. Lead cores and coppers are designed to kill fish not be sporting--that was my point. People fishing on my boat do not "fight" any plastic devices--they are taught how to properly reel the board to the boat. Like you said--to each his own. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Not for nothing but if you're only interested in "sport" or "the fight" coppers and lead cores shouldn't even be on your boat! There is nothing sporting or enjoyable about either! And you're not releasing fish with them either. They are fish killing devices so don't kid yourself and say you're "in it for the sport"! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I would rather deal with a 28# king on a long copper off a TX44 than a 20# King off a big board. The attached inline will wear a big fish down quicker than anything. If he happens to sink the board simply free spoil your reel until it pops back up and then reel in your wore out fish. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Inline boards and coppers and cores go hand in hand. There is a learning curve to be had in playing a fish with them but, in my opinion, there isn't a better way to run multiple coppers or cores. You won't see ANY charter captains in Michigan running big boards--they ALL run inlines. Hookups are better and, once you get the hang of fighting fish on them, the landing ratio is FAR Better. People can eat anything that doesn't kill them. I personally have tried sheepshead and, although bony, was not only edible but actually quite good. I've never had pickerel but a musky taken in early May was excellent. People can eat anything---they eat catfish for gods sake! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

copper and planer boards

Both work great and each have their own merits. That said, I do have to give major props to the new trebles being sold by torpedo. Amazingly durable and frighteningly sharp!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

The entire region seems to be experiencing what you are. I'm hunting two states and 4 counties and have seen limited success. In 8 days of hunting I've only heard 4 shots and 1 of those was mine. There is definitely a shortage of gobbling birds. Everyone has their own opinion but I think two hard LONG winters in a row have taken their toll. At least you didn't complain about the DEC stocked coyotes and fishers killing all the turkeys---I've heard that a lot in the past three weeks. Smh. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

In-line boards for Lead Core?
Paul Czarnecki replied to Fishbowl836's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Leadcores will work just fine with the church walleye boards. TX44's are the big ones and not needed for core. Trust me, if you're salmon fishing on Lake Ontario you DO NOT need a flag to tell when you have a bite! 😀 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -
If your inline were to catch a wave while trolling into them and dive or a big king buries your board simply free spool it while keeping light tension on it with your thumb. When the board pops up simply flatten your rod parallel to the water, or lower, and reel. No pumping! When a board does submerge the LAST thing you do is try to pull on it! Lol....I've been known to catch a few walleyes myself. I live in Erie and ran charters on Erie for 15 years before moving my business to Lake O. Stop by the boat and we will chat! I forgot to mention the ONE quirk we all have at the Oak---the information is FREE but information you can actually USE will cost you a beer. 😛 Blue Light is preferred. The greatest thing about the Oak is the free sharing of information. We have NO secrets. We have the best fishing on the lake for the largest part of the year and we know it. 😛 At that time of year start in 50fow and troll northwest or northeast until you find a picture or hit some fish. Stop by Lake Breeze Marina when you get in. If I'm on the boat feel free to ask me anything---same goes for most of us there. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Terminal Tackle for Wire Dipsy Setups
Paul Czarnecki replied to jigstick's topic in Tackle and Techniques
If your wire broke "because of a knot" you tied it wrong. Crimps are FAR more likely to break than a properly tied/executed overhand loop knot. In 25 years of running wire dipseys using overhand loop knots I have never had a knot break. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -
Occasionally a plug will not "seal" Properly and may take on water. However, I have not seen it hamper the action or fish catching ability of the plug. Bay Rat very much wants to hear of problems with the baits. Getting feedback and hearing of problems is the only way to improve. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

big boards and traffic
Paul Czarnecki replied to hawkeye625's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Lmao and then try to crowd YOU into the ledge just because they have boards out. Side cutters are now a permanent fixture in the back of my boat! Watch for floating boards! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

Would like to pick your brains

Here's the answer I just gave another gentleman with the same problem. Instead of burning fuel trying to blunder into a fish by accident you should simply take a charter to see how it's done. Several of us on here offer on the water seminars that would be invaluable to you and shorten your learning curve immensely. You could spend the next ten years on here and on your own trying to catch a fish or, for around $650, you could see how it's done directly from a pro and start catching fish today. We are having one of the best springs in years---there is no better time to learn than right now. PM me and I'll tell you about the seminar package I offer and what you need to do. (My gift bags are usually pretty good too 😃) *shameless plug* Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -
