  1. Vince is 100% right! Finally the Lake Ontario ProAm Series is being run like a business. And anyone in business will tell you that the first impression is the ONLY impression. The Committee is putting the final touches on a Marketing Program for the Lake Ontario ProAm Series. The NEW web site is nearly ready to be launched and I'm sure everyone will be extremely impressed with the new look and direction this Series has adopted. Trust me...it'll be worth the wait~
  2. Now that's FUNNY right there! I owe you one Felluca! And you're 100% right. With my 10M I never have to worry about going so fast that I flip over---and I can do that in ANY water! See ya soon!
  3. STUPID SHOULD HURT! That boat was WAY overpowered and, like Vince said, they were just trying to get some dramatic high speed footage. The first indication something was wrong with the setup should have been the boat "chine walking" with a 6 inch chop. He had only the prop in the water and no weight in the bow. When he crossed the other boat's wake at such a shallow angle and at that speed the boat was bound to flip. Good thing he was wearing his lifejacket. Too bad there was too much power on the boat with too little brain behind the wheel.
  4. Pete carries a full compliment of "orange backed" Super Slims (only available from him) as well as "exclusive" patterns like the Green goby and Yellow goby.
  5. X 2 with what Capt. Vince said. The Super Slims ARE steelhead spoons. Capt. Pete--aka Vision Quest---aka Dream Steelie---aka Great Lakes Tackle Shop has ALL the DW steelhead spoons you could ever want. He is also the exclusive distributor for several HOT DW blades. You won't find them anywhere but on his site. Click on his ad to the left on the main page.
  6. I would like to see those binders in person Rod. As you will see, I have a "Fly Nightmare" on my boat---also a Spin Doctor Nightmare, a Spoon Nightmare, etc, etc. It looks like a great idea that I would love to implement. Can you send me a better pic of exactly what you're doing?
  7. Gary, just make sure if you name a fly after me, or because of me, or in making fun of me, that I at least get one to use myself. I would hate to have everyone around me catching fish on my namesake fly and not have one myself.
  8. OH NO.......you just jinxed yourself Rich. I can hear you whining about it now....."I ran that stuff all last year and never had a problem. I just broke off two 20# Ridgebacks in 10 minutes!"
  9. That can't be a Big Weenie fly Rod. There is no reference to anything sexual, obscene or anything referring to "bodily functions".. You better change the name to something like "Vegetarian Vampire Whore" or something more graphic that the censors won't let me type.... Seriously though.....it looks good. See ya soon, Paul PS...that offer is still open for you for the St. Catherines KOTL next month.
  10. I still don't see anything wrong with it Rich. Seriously, if Brian wants everyone to know what most of you probably do anyway he can come here and tell you. I know his little tip helped my copper success imensely. Judging from the posts on here about the success of copper the past few years I'd say most of you already have Brian's "tip" and are using it well.
  11. When I ran heavier, stiffer diver rods I ran snubbers---and they helped. Now I run Eagle Claw "French Fry" rods which are very soft and forgiving and don't need them. In fact, a snubber with a soft diver rod is more of a detriment than a help. More important than a snubber with ANY diver setup is a good reel with a smooth drag. A competent angler on the other end of it helps a lot too.
  12. I have 4 Fish 307 downrigger rods for sale. These are 9' medium and medium heavy action rods with great backbone and perfect action. 3 of them were used for one season only and 1 has never been used. I used them for 10 color cores but they are great for downriggers or planer boards as well. In fact, I'm still keeping 4 of them for board rods. They sell new for $105 but I will sell these for $40 each. Give me a call at 716-390-0085. Paul
  13. Starting fluid? When you put it up for the winter did you treat your fuel system with Sea Foam or Stabil?
  14. Its March Rich....what did you expect? Good thing he didn't ask about kings or browns. Or the best fly to use to catch them.
  15. Check out Great Lakes Tackle Shop. Its owned/run by Capt. Pete Alex (Vision Quest) and he's a sponsor of this site. His ad is to the left <---- I know for a fact he has a TON of GAMMA Coplymer and Fluorocarbon.
  16. LOLOL.......I do owe you a big thank you for the tip on the copper leaders Brian. That tip alone made all the difference in the world and has now made copper one of my top producers. I owe you one..... . But seriously......SCOTTYS??????
  17. Brian's right---the fishing is WAY better on the east end. Don't come west.
  18. Fish the western end of the lake and you'll have all the lakers you want in April and May and all the kings and steelhead you could ever want from May through September.
  19. Been using it for four years now. Great, tough finish and really not that tough to do. It certainly beat waxing.
  20. Its not during the week---its the day after Labor Day. That's a "Recovery holiday". Besides Rick, its big enough now that if you win it you would make more money than if you had worked. I think even third place last year was around $200.
  21. You need all that in May on the Bar Rick??? You gotta go one on one. That's TWO rods! One boat---one captain---two rods! First one to three fish over 25 inches wins! Just like the Oak's One Man fish Bowl.
  22. The 10 inchers were very consistent producers last year out of Oak Orchard. They were good on the center rigger (deep) and the divers. Green, white and green on white worked the best for us.
  23. When did it become "dinner" Bob. I distinctly recall saying, in front of two other witesses, that the loser would pay the winner's dock fee for the year! Put your money where your mouth is Bob. Bring it on!
