  1. They are taking kings and lakers at the Oak.
  2. The area around the Red Can has someCrazy currents for sure. A northeast wind pushing into the river current can make it seem even worse. That's why most of us run down speed units like Fish Hawk or Sub Troll.
  3. You couldn't possibly eat enough fish in a lifetime to have ill effects. The health benefits FAR outweigh the "hazards" created by tests in California. Lol
  4. Dalhousie is where it all starts. Anywhere from Jordan harbor to the canal is prime king water for this time of year. Good luck and post results!
  5. Your diver presentation will be much more effective if the rod is held Parallel to the water or even slightly lower.
  6. Why don't you just call Bay Rat and order some?? Those that have them won't be giving them up any time soon. I can guarantee that.
  7. We aren't set up for PayPal. Cash or check to Bob Songin is the only way we can do it right now.
  8. The answer depends on what port you'll be fishing out of. Each port seems to have a "local flavor" of spoons and flashers that consistently produce well. And rarely are they the same for all ports.
  9. Micron CSC or CSX is the best, longest lasting bottom paint I've ever used. Far superior to VC 17 or any of the other bottom paints.
  10. 4 Cs doesn't exist anymore. It is all Lake Breeze Marina now.
  11. Posts like this and it's not even April. It's gonna be a good year!
  12. I've seen really greasy and oily baits cleaned in the dishwasher. If your wife allows it of course. [emoji16]
  13. I remember doing that in early May one year. Shoveled the deck so the charter could get on. Went out and limited early. 1991 I think.
  14. Tomorrow!! Temps in the 30's. One inch of rain turning to snow. And 30-40 mph winds. PERFECT!
  15. You won't be far from hatteras and you should see it anyway. Rom Whitaker runs the Release 1 out of hatteras harbor marina. Great guy! Tell him I sent you.
  16. One in Pa last week too.
  17. Blood Run makes good fluoro. Use 50# for all my fly leaders. For spoons I'm very partial to Gamma Edge--expensive but I've never had it fail and I've personally seen it pull off some Amazing feats that no other line could have done.
  18. I may have a set that I could sell you.
  19. One of the most memorable from last year.
  20. A 1# weight on wire will have no prob hitting bottom at lake trout speed.
  21. Put whatever you want on it but it won't be a "thumper rod". It'll just be a wire rod with a 1 pound weight on it.
  22. A true "thumper rod" is a 1# ball trailing a dodger and squid or fly. The "thumping" comes from the action of the dodger and is used to judge speed. At least it was back before we had all the electronic crap we have now.
  23. It's been a long time since I've caught one. We used to catch them all the time in Erie in the 80's and I know they are still ocassionally caught there as well as Lake O. I'm sticking with my "guess" Of Pink salmon.
  24. When fishing water less than 15' deep spoons are run off riggers 2-6' down and 60' back. Short shallow Bay Rat sticks are generally run 75-100' back on inlines or big boards. Run that way you'll be fine into about 8' of water. Less than that and you'll need to shorten your set backs.
