  1. AWESOME FISH! They must have done some aerials for ya. I miss fishing for those landlocks sometimes. great job!
  2. ME TOO BOB. tHATS WHAT CAUGHT MY EYE!
  3. Welcome to the site. You will love it here
  4. My scotties have tip booms and I have never heard of anyone breaking a belt on them. I did have to replace the motors on my old big jons however. You cant set your beer down on a big jon at the dock either like I can on my Scotties!
  5. Welcome to the site buddy! I cant wait to spend the summer days in search of some monster salmon with you and your brother. The red dock will be entertained once again by you and your brother. We still need to GET Frank this year.
  6. trolling 82, save yourself the money and time and just go Depth raider. I know people who were die hard Subtroll fans and they went to a Depth Raider eventually too. Sub trolls are supposed to be a great unit, I just dont care for the analog needle myself. Good luck in your decision. I know when I got my down speed unit my catch rate went WAY up.
  7. Love my depth raider. I know the old Hawks used to eat a battery a day. I use one a season. Coated cable gets beat up a bit but it is easily cut back or replaced.
  8. Definetly BOB! Same exact method as yours.
  9. I have had good luck in March around Lodi. North and south of the launch 20 feet and less. Small jigs tipped with fatheads works well for me. Keep moving till you find the big perch. You can really slay them if you find them. KEEP MOVING around till you find them. Lower your anchor very quietly too. I hope march is warm enough weather because I will be there to try for them too. Depending on the wind, the launch at Saverne is a good option too. I bet the North end launch is locked up but maybe not. Good luck.
  10. I cant wait to work on it with you and get it cleaned up and fixed up. We will have to post some pictures as we go. It will take a few sodas!
  11. Awesome birds. Never had the chance at Eiders or Oldsquaw. great hunt.
  12. Like I stated, just my opinion, shoot whatever you like. My poor form sure has put a bunch of deer on the ground.
  13. Lake Ontario, St. Lawrence River and the finger lakes offer some awesome diver hunting.
  14. Awesome. Good job getting marlene a boar. That a girl! Did you get a chance to eat any yet? Supposed to be real good. I have had russian boar and it was incredi\ble.
  15. I shoot an older Mathews ultra max and personally think the Mathews are over rated and expensive. There are a lot of excellent bows out there. I am in great need to upgrade myself but I doubt it will be a Mathews. The only other Mathews I shot was a ridgeback a few years ago. I thought it was torquey and I wasnt impressed for the coin. just my opinion
  16. I have yet to loose a deer due to a mechanical head. I have taken plenty of deer also. I think some are better than others of course. As far as not being able to tune your bow to use fixed heads, not everyone has the time required to fine tune fixed heads. I dont think you could ever get a fixed head to fly exactly as good as a mechanical anyway. To each there own and use what you like and what you are confident with. I think traditional archers are crazy using stone flint tips but I appreciate that they can and do take game with them.
  17. My boat is insured by Progressive. Around $400 for the year. I would have to look at the breakdown on coverages as I cant remember exactly what it entails. I do know I thought it was sufficient coverage for me
  18. I think liquid tape would wind up being bunched up in the eye of the reel. I could never find shrink tubing small enough to work well. I love the paint marker tip. thanks Bill.
  19. That is a shame. We love that show. I hope he was on his boat when he died. RIP PHIL HARRIS
  20. Next time you are at Wrights, Red dock # 19 for a cold beer lakebound. Or any dock on the red dock for that matter.
  21. Lakebound, I bet I could tell you EXACTLY who that captain out of OSWEGO is. Dont worry MOST everyone feels the same way as you do towards him if it is the same Charter Capt. Ignore him. Maybe you did just catch a decent guy on a bad day which is understandable. All the other Captains I have met have been great guys and very personable and helpful. The Captain I am thinking about (and wont mention names) is consistently rude, irrogant, not friendly and stinks like DIESEL FUMES!
  22. Huge advantage. I like to have the FF set at dual screen. One screen for each transducer. See the balls and the proximity to the fish. Raise or lower to put your presentations right in their face.
  23. MUSKY WROTE: All beer drinking on the red dock must cease immediately according to a directive by the present administration. No fun is allowed, taxes will be levied, & a penalty will be imposed by Sheriff Frank (Home Office). A 221 Islander will be slipped in the area to see that everything is copacetic. Please take all your beer (and Scotch) to him for proper disposal. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. LMAO! Bob, we corrupted Frank last year. No booze on the red dock. Then I am outta there.Wait till you see what I have in store for "Frank the sheriff"
  24. Oswego! Got to love the fact that you can find fish in very close proximity to the harbor all year. Monster browns, steelhead, walleye and salmon are plentiful without having to run way out to get to deep water. I like the fact that the coasties are right there if you need them too. Wrights Landing has the fish cleaning station and geat facilities. Park and town walking distance for kids on blow off days. Great food and drink in Oswego too. Cold beer on the Red Dock is a nice plus also.
