  1. Fishkiller , I didn't wear seat belts either till I paid a $50 fine, so instead of paying fines I bought more fishing tackle. I wear mine because I want to.
  2. I was fishing IBay yesterday And saw a sweet thing paddling her yack around the bay in a tank top and no vest. . There were maybe 10 boats around the channel markers and I still didn't see any vests, (I don't think you have to have them on when your anchored). And I saw a rental boat with to young men in it and no vests on. I did see a older gentlemen with a inflatable vest under his coat .I was sorry to here about the gentlemen who lost his life when there boat tipped over on Sodus bay. No vests on. Maybe they should put up signs at the launches about the vest law To inform the uninformed. I'm done.
  3. I spent all last week hunting the hills over Seneca Lake, first setup camp and then for my honey hole to to put up my stand, I couldn't believe it, someone had a stand in the tree I've been using for quite a few years,so much for that watch. The wind sucked all week hunting from a ground blind.By Wednesday I was still looking , heavy leave cover on the ground, hard to find runs not seeing scrapes. Started a little still hunting and spotted a deer moving up the ridge ahead of me, not much of a look and it was gone, I moved to the ridge looking for a run and the light came on,use the grunt tube stupid. OK I did a doe bleat and the next thing I hear is a buck grunting back at me and in he came straight at me to about20-25yds and looked me in the eye and he was big with a pot belly, might have been a 8pt. the kill zone was wide open but I couldn't move, he finely moved about 20yds,I drew back but no shot and he walked off,so much for him.I moved down the ridge about a .25 mile found a good run and set up a ground blind and went back to camp for lunch. Back to the blind by 3:00 and waited, nothing happened so I pulled out the call and gave it a toot, about ten minutes I called again, about ten more minutes and here comes a big buck down the hill at me,nice hight rack maybe 18-20 inch spread, 8or 10 pt. Had a hole about ten inches between to trees at about 25yds. I killed the tree . I changed the call to a grunt and tryed to bring him back, about 15min, a doe came in and I missed, arrow didn't get through the brush,Oh well I went back the next afternoon same thing ,started calling about 5:00 nice buck comes down the hill, got about 40yds out and the wind shifted and he was gone. Moved the blind back up the ridge the next day got in it about 3pm started calling about 5pm, had a doe pass about 40yds above me no shot, About 10min. later I spotted a deer about 50yds, the wind did me again. That was it for me.I didn't see any chasing and only 1or2 scraps, no over head limb, is that a buck scrap? I never saw a small deer all week. The weather sure was good for deer hunting.
  4. Hey Ray,is there going to be snow at the blue berry patch tomorrow, we'll be pulling the trailer up there in the afternoon for the week. If your driving by stop in and have lunch.
  5. Skipper, I've got Barn's Expander MZ .400"195gr MZ FB sabots, and PowerBelt Platinum areotips 223gr. My son shot the power belts but couldn't get a good group with 150grs of powder.I don't think it needs 150gr. of powder. I shot powerbelts out of my TC Renagade, they shoot good out to 100yds with 100grs. of tripple 7 and 230gr, PB. No scope on the 50cal. I miss a lot without a scope.
  6. Thanks Ray,I've been using a inch long firecracker slide down the barrel, fuse through the nipple hole and a 3\4oz split shot.I drove over to the local park to sight in, taped the target to the side of the truck and backed off 150yds and didn't even hit the truck, maybe I'm shooting hight, thanks again for the help. .
  7. OK guys, my son just put a 45cal CVA Kodak inline with a 3to7 scope in my hands. Does one of you shoot a 45cal and can recommend a good load for out to 150yds. I don't like sabitts, I can't get a second round down the barrel with out driving the rod into a tree to seat the round. A wounded deer won't wait for you to clean the barrel.
  8. drrambo, seams like we did loan our booster battery to a fellow percher not to long ago and I did mention the LOU board. So welcome aboard and glade we could help. See ya on the pond. Mike.

Well my partner and I hit I Bay this morning about 7:30 am, it was a little windy but not bad so we set up at the channel markers and started pulling in nice perch up to 12". they seemed to be in a small area in around 8or9 fow, we didn't set the world on fire but we kept around 30to40 between us, I didn't count them. All the boats that launched after us went to the south end, I don't know how they made out down there. Our bite turned off about 11:00, we quit about 12:30.Maybe someone will report on the south end. Well its back to deer hunting for me. Seaya. .
  11. Wow, a bluebird day and ducks besides. Good shoot. .
  12. It works on Canandaigua.
  13. Nice deer and good job tracking.
  14. Was he he using 2or4" veins. Thats a winner either way. Can you get some pictures.
  15. Hey skipper, you hit it with your truck.
  16. Nice, looks like a winner but I don't get the channel .
  17. I use a 97winchester pump 12ga. 30" full choke with 2 3\4" 4s or 5s. A little camo tape and its good to go. the Old man gave it to me when I was 13, and I killed a pile of ducks and rabbits and pheasants and a few turkeys. Its got a tight pattern.I didn't want to shoot steel through it so it sat a while before I started to hunt turkey.
  18. Thats to big for me. I'm going for a nice doe thats fit to eat.

Got out about about 7:30 AM and it didn't take long for my hands to get cold, Its going to be tuff icefishing this year. We started at the bouys and didn't do anything, moved down the bay and picked up a few,25-30fow, very slow so we moved south, marked what looked like they might be perch on the bottom and set the anchor. Had a slow pick of perch, some nice ones, mostly small, keep about 30. Best for us was in 24-35fow. It will get better soon.we quit at noon. Bet the lot well be crowded this weekend.
