  1. Thanks for that info, Jolly, when they dumped the bows there wasn't a bird or a fishermen around, I'm thinking they may have gotten a good start. .
  2. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:WhiteWhale ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water:7;30-12;30 Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction:east Waves: 1-2ft. Surface Temp: 47+ Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Total Boated:2 Species Breakdown:Brown -steelhead. Hot Lure: R-R Trolling Speed: 2.0 2.8SOG Down Speed: Boat Depth: 10-35ft. Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Ran out to about 20fow and set up and headed east past the first point, moved into 12fow and hit a brown worked east a while longer, the water was getting very clear and losing color, we moved out to about 30fow and headed west and the out side line fired and we got a small steelhead, put him back to grow. There wasn't much going on so we call it a day. It was funny the wind on the lake was coming from the east and the wind at the dock was coming from the west, wonder where it ended up?? Nice morning fishing.
  3. Ya can't beat that way to go.
  4. No, it was nice when we started out but it got a little snotty. That's no bass boat it only got a 50hp kicker on it. It handles the 3-5fters nicely but it sure is a wet boat. Thanks for your concern . Mike. .
  5. Woody, I didn't see much of a screen other than the ball, not even bait. I should have gone east, don't know if the fishing would have been better but I would have been a better drier ride back to the dock. Ray,I need more time to convince Moma how nice it would be without me for a couple days, just can't drop it on her and go. Thanks for the invite. Good luck.
  6. Looks like you guys had a hell of a time. Nice job.
  7. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Whitewhale ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):5/10 Time on Water:7am-11:30 Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction:N/E Waves: 0 to 4ft. Surface Temp: 52deg. Location:Ibay to west of power plant LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: none Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: 1.8-3.0 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 10ft-50ft. Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== We set up outside of Ibay, stix and spoons on the boards, spoons off the rigger. Trolled out to about 50fow to get out of the mud, headed west outside the mud line to the Genny into twenty fow past the power plant, pulled the three color core in and moved into 10fow and started east. the wind was kicking up some 3-4 footers so I cleared the lines and headed back to Ibay. Did I mention 16ft. boat, it was a long and very wet ride back to the dock. I'm thinking I hit a 5fter now and then but the boat handled it just fine. Ya we had our vest on. Maybe try again in the morning.
  8. I used strips of perch with flies last season and took kings.

  12. Ya Ray let us know how you and Johnson make out. Sorry Luke510, got you and Ray mixed up.How did you and Johnson get along, did he do as well as you hoped. Hey Greg, glad you and John read this post.
  13. Well I'll bet its crowded on the canal at Silven beach.
  14. Good point tighten up that release, hope my fishing buds are reading this post, we lost 6or8 last week. There in training but there fast learners.
  15. GOOD JOB.
  16. Rick, I'm assuming you losing most of the fish off the boards, Its hard to get a good hook set long lining off the boards with the line stretch if there not hitting hard, you have to get the slack out of the line as fast as you can or they will throw the hooks, and like Ray said sharpen the hooks. I also think braid with no stretch is better off the boards. When I run spoons I offset the hook points on treble or single point hooks. Just take pliers and twist the point to one side so the point doesn't line up with the shank and then sharpen the point. Don't over do it. I'm not one fore setting the hook but I think its important to get the slack out as fast as you can no matter what line your running and sharpen those hooks. Hey don't forget to sharpen the hooks.
  17. I think the increase in steelhead pop. is due to the net pen stocking, the cormerants and gulls arn't eating up half the stocking before they have a chance to spread out and survive. I think the bows the DEC dumped in the river were big enough to make it.
  18. I took a ride to Ibay this morning to see what the lake looked like. Talked to a pier fishermen, he had a 5-6lb brown and had a big one break him off, not to bad. Walked back to the parking and saw the DEC truck back up to the east side bridge abutment and unload a bunch of rainbows, looked to be about 8-10 " long. don't think the gulls will bother them, they never even showed up.
