The north wind brings in warm water, the south wind blows the warm water out and the cold water comes in under it. -

Everything the others said is good advise but you still need some kind of speed control, RPMs won't do it for you. You should be able to find a good used GPS cheep. Maybe you could barrow a hand held from a friend and see how that works. If you do try not to drop it over board. .When you get your speed right you should do better catching. Good luck, hope this helps. 711skwertz had a pair of manual cannons and if he still has them you might be able to work something out. Send him a PM.

The crestliners had some problems with the hull cracking. .

Excavr,First of all your doing well for a beginner, you only fished 2.5 hrs and you cough a fish that's grate. You have to be patient because there's days when the best of fishermen get skunked. If you aren't willing to put in the time then save your money.I think 2/3s of us on this board had to learn the hard way, no board to go to for help. Go out there and enjoy the day and if you catch fish that's a bonus.

Have a great day Ray.

Jimski2, the mooneye population controls the perch and walleye population, they spawn after the P/W and feed on there eggs. The Mooneyes and smelt are making a comeback and the perch fishing seams to be dropping off the last two years,at least the big ones are getting harder to get. I don't think there's a lack of perch fishermen. How about dropping the 50 limit? The trouble with the bass pop.is most likely the gobie's and the C/R fishing during the spawn period.I'm sure they have trouble finding a place to spawn (zebra mussels )and when they do there pulled off there nests and the gobies and others fish eat there eggs. The DEC. has charts showing as the mooneye pop. goes up or down the perch and walleye pop. goes the other way. I don't think this is a surprise to you but I had to say It. .

Hey Frisco, nice work yesterday, you guys did a hell of a job. Hope you didn't make Eskimo Joe reel in the weed beds to. Andy, sorry I missed you at the weigh in,I don't think I recognized you in summer mode. Mike.
-
Frisco,my slidediver setup with 40ft.of 40lb test doesn't get curly because the wire is wound onto the spool so I added 15-20ft of mono to wire, on my dipsy rod. No more curly wire. Use a snapswivel welded ring and elongate it to go through guides and tie mono and wire to ring. Try it and see how it works.

Indian, how far behind the flasher are you running the spoons and sticks? Are you using chrome flashers? Thanks. -
If a 50lber is weighed in please check it for the 10# herbie I lost last year.

I think if a fish that big,47+lbs came into the hatchery there would be pictures on the front page and the BBC news at 6:00 world wide.
-
Has anyone tried running inline boards and wire diver setups together? does it work?
-
Hey Big Dave,Your right about the 5 year old, that could do it but I think not. Back in the seventies or eighties the boy's at the Salmon River hatchery treated a batch of salmon eggs so they would not spawn till maybe 5-6 years old to try and get a 50lber. No luck. I think they need to go into salt water to get that size. I say enjoy the 30lbers and a 40+ will be a bonus .Tight line and keep on dreaming.
