  2. I'd like to here from the sportsmen in the southern tier. How are the wind farms on the hills of the southern tier affecting the area? Are those areas closed to hunting or hiking, are all the cables under ground or laying around? Are they a benefit to the area? Lets here from you guys.
  3. It looks like there won't be any big changes till 2011 so they have time to reright the game book. there maybe some small changes for 2010.
  4. Chowder, your right about the late ML season,it start primitive, patch and ball, then the DEC opened it up to anything goes as long as it was a single shot and was muzzle loading. Most shooters borrowed a bp gun, never shot it and went hunting. One hunter I knew shot at a deer and missed reloaded-missed loaded three times. The gun never fired the first time, and had three loads in it.He was just popping the cap. I started with a T/C Renagade 50cal with double set triggers. It shot a good group.First time out(15-18yrs ago) my son pushed a nice six pt.to me,I broke his back and had to reload to finish the job. After loading and setting the back trigger I was bringing the gun down on the deer and touched the front trigger (hair trigger) by mistake and shot into the air .Next shot did it .
  5. I'm shooting the 85gr.thunder Head on a 400gr.Beman ICS Out of a Mathews MQ1 at about 54lbs, and it will pass through the heart lung area all day long. My shooting skills are excellent, been at it for over 60yrs. Most of my shots are under 20yds and I'm very happy with that little head on that setup.
  6. Very well put Chowder. Everything you said is right on.
  7. akitaone, you have a PM.
  8. I like the 270 I think it would go through the trees better for deer and still reach out and touch the yotes. A 223 might be cheaper to shot for the dogs.
  9. Try this shop.DaMar Gunsmiths---1-315-834-9156.---Dave or Dennis Klotz. Weedsport NY. Tell him Mike said to call,He gives my friend special att.

  12. If they were born here they speak Spanish, maybe English.
  13. Nice buck, I'm sure he cought up with some of the does.In about three years you could have half a dozen more just like him.
  14. shot guns would be a lot cheeper then arrows. I don't know what the body armor would cost.
  15. Longline, that would be a riot. I've seem videos of archers shooting them out of the air from there boats .
  16. I'll bet they fight better Than lakers. They should be cheeper to fish for than salmon.Time to learn there feeding habits.
  17. That's a big hunk of woods over there in Cato MR. Kingslamon.
  18. Ray. I think your over doing the acorn cover sent you've been using, the squirrels love it.
  19. Guy's in the 70ties I lived in Oswego county, had some deer hunting in my back yard. I also had Coydog's in the backyard. when I bowhunted I carried a 22 simiauto hand gun. Those's dogs weren't afraid of you and would attack. A freind came across a pack of them deer hunting and was attacked by a St.Bernard.That was the last thing he did. Slugs are hard on dogs. Oh Ya I know I wasn't legal . Better safe than sorry. . Hey good shooting Chowder.
  20. Kingslamon22, you have a PM.
  21. Stan, underware date way back, before your time Bob, remember the movie One1,000000 BC? The cave girls started waring a thong so the cave boys couldn't sneak up behind them when they were picking cave mushrooms.
  22. Maybe you could find an old pice of carpet and pore a little E10 on it and than through some of those beads on it and see what happens.Maybe someone spilled a can of coke on it. I put a after market 18gal. plastic tank with a vented cap in my boat about 10yrs. ago and so far so good. Oh, yes I'm hoping your wrong. Last spring I drained the tank because the motor was running poorly, maybe water or a build up of oil in the tank. Soooo I dumped about 4gal. of gas into the truck that ran fine before that and it was all down hill from there. After changing the plugs and 4or5 cans of injector cleaner it runs fine again,so does my OB. Hope your truck did better. Oh, no water in the gas.
  23. I bought a new one in the early 50ties for about eighty nine bucks. I bought a sixteen in the middle to late sixties, the numbers start at 67------. It's a great slug gun.
  24. Chowder I think you hit the nail on the head, many times I have had doe bring bucks to me and stop and watch the show. They came down time tested runs and doesn't prove much. On an other hunt, same stand the wind started switching around,I like to use a little coon urine as cover sent when that happens but I was out. I did have a bottle of apple cider in the back pack so I let some run down the side of the tree. Shortly here comes a nice doe and two kids about 20yds out and stop, she checks the air, walks up to the tree and sniffs it and looks up at me. she didn't spook and run she just walked off with the kids.Maybe 5min.later here they come on the run right under my stand and up the hill. I looked to see what spooked her and here comes a dandy 8pt. He came to about 30yds, no shoot. She know I was there and I thank she had a plan. Or it sure looked like it. What do you think, are we reading to much into this?
