  1. Welfare, a little advice, if you happen to go out alone don't try to set up going into the wind . How big is your boat, I've got a 16ft lund and I have to use the bow mount electric to keep the boat strait when setting up. You have to keep your eyes on the depth finder all the time so you don't hang a weight on the bottom. The first time I tried to set up I wound the two rigger cables and lines up, what a mess. I was so mad I through ever thing in the bottom of the boat and went home. At that time there was no one to tell you anything, it was the first year salmon run. Read all past post you can and you will be catching salmon with the best of us. Good luck. Mike.
  2. You'll get over it Nitro. I'll be down on Seneca hunting turkey in the morning maybe fishing in the after noon. Be down there for a week. Sure nice they open the Pike and Turkey season the same day, it spreads us out a little. You guys on Oneida be careful, don't bump into each other. What ever you do be safe and have a good time. I know, turkey opens Friday. .
  3. You went back to basics good work.
  4. You did a wonderful job musky but I would have used milk cans for line winders on that fence post.
  5. Well guy's I made it out of Severne this morning. got there about 7:30am at least 10 boats ahead of me, most in front of the motel. There was a ton of perch but they wouldn't bite. We fished to the second point north and back to the second point south of launch. Not a bite. About 4:30 we got 4 quick fish and that was it for the day. Well there was no skunk on the boat, but it was close. Hey it was a beautiful day and we were on the water, what more could you want? Mike.
  6. Zebedee, I just got the weather report for Rochester for tomorrow , there calling for 10 to 18 out of the north. That maybe a little rough for my 16 Lund. I'm going to see if I can get a Finger Lakes report. Anyone know if Roy's sells bait? Thanks. When I do get out there will be a report.
  7. Thanks guys, think I'll give it a shot tomorrow AM. May the fish be with you. Mike.
  8. Thanks Mike.
  9. I'm wondering if one of you Finger lakers could point me to a launch on the west side where I might pick up a few perch. Just need to know where to put the boat in and I'll take it from there. West side is closest but I could do the east side also. thank in advance. Mike.
  10. Put the ice gear away and hooked the boat to the truck and headed for I Bay. Had a nice south breeze, not cold but it was cool. The Bay was pretty muddy and there was still ice north of the bridge. We marked a ton of fish but bites few and far between. Moved around quite a bit no luck. talked to other boats and they weren't doing much either. I think the fish we were marking may have been shade or big white perch. I'm not sure why but I haven't ever been able to catch perch on the LO bays when there is still some ice on them. Soon as the ice is gone they start biting,Anyone notice this or is it just me? Anyway the boat ran just fine, now I'm going to try Seneca for some big perch.

    IBay 3-11

Checked the bay out this morning, the north end ice is gone to the southern channel markers. there's ice to the bridge. Looks like the end is wide open. There's a dandy mud line on the lake, its about a mile off shore. I'd say it starts west of the Genny river. Go get them guys and watch out for the crap out there.

Fished I Bay today,it started slow but picked in about an hour, tipdowns were hot but they weren't taking the bait very well but we ended up with about 60 keepers. It was a nice day to sit in the shanty with the heater on. To much excitement there for me, think I'll go to Sodus in the morning.

    Sodus Bay.

Well we fished the bay again today. Hiked out of three mile to 35fow. I had 13 big ones by 1;00PM, thats not very good in my book. Quit about 3:00. Three of us 23 keepers. They , the big one's wanted big buckeye's and we ran out early, couldn't even put out tip ups . The ice was good the weather wasn't bad, had a good day.

    Sodus Bay.

scurry, I don't think you have to put your eide away yet if you stay away from the docks and the outside bay, thats north off the point and Newark island. Do whats comfortable for you. I'm going out of third creek in the AM. we'll be hoofing it .

Got on the bay about 7:00 am at three mile, went out to 36fow, kept about 20 good ones.Slow picken, most came on big buckeyes on tipdowns. we got some slobs. Warning Two four wheelers went through between Eagle and Newark island.
  20. Hey Gambler, looks like you'll be all by yourself. Good luck.
  21. Your lucky Landshark, I did that and droped a full box of crankbaits off on Henrietta Town Line Rd. and all I got back was a crushed box of crushed lures. Glad you got yours back.
  22. Hey Ray, you cleaning those beer barrels out of the dog house. .....Mike.
  23. I haven't been out in week and half but I ran into same thing at Sodus. I started out with green, a few bites all dinks.I switched to rainbow trout pattern cast masters and the bites started. We didn't set the world on firer but we kept about 24 9 to 12"ers. About 30 fow. I'd say any lure in that pattern. Oh minnows big one's, dinks love spikes. I fished the bottom but some time the big one's will be up high. Hope this helps. Good luck. Mike.
