I don't have riggers, just run dipsies so I don't need down speed but I like to know where the temp. is. I use a old MacJac hand held temp.gage, good to 100fow. The FF is good for depth but didn't count on it to catch fish.They can be there and and not show on the FF.I play it by ear,if the reels are screeming I've got it right. Got back into it last year and hooked up 4-5 times most trips. Not bed just having to baits out.

One ramp was open tuesday but if you get out on the lake and a west south west wind breaks the ice loose you won't get back in the bay. The ramp on the Jenny is open and one boat was out.

Chaos,I was thinking five gills at 2 points each + 4 is 14 points. Not enought to win so no one will be mad at me but still look good. I could be back at the dock by 8:00 while the rest of you battle it out. I don't think we need any rules other than those of the DEC. Oh,start and finish time. Lets go by the honor sys.

Your right Stinger lets keep this simple. Can I run 5 tipdowns off the boards and two jiging rods? I thank the DEC will be waiting for use at the dock. Are we just fishing fore trout or is it wide open???

I never trolled the finger lakes,I did try jigging 3-4 times and got lakers every time. I find jigging more relaxing. I can troll if I have to. It won't be long now,it all most warmed up on the ice this afternoon.

I'd like to give it a try.Do I have to troll Or can I try jigging? The boat is a 16ft. Lund.I don't have a radio on board. BBQ sounds good, I'll bring some road kill. Mike.

Hi,I'm Mike and I'm a fish-a haulic. Do rehab. on I Bay during the week. Started fishing the Big O back in the 60's. Had hand cranks on the boat before most fishermen know what they were. Wish there was a how to site to go to back then. Had a bait and tackle shop in the 70's That took up to much of my fishing time. Got a charter Licence in 85. Chartered out of Sodus Bay, Oak Park Marina, 28ft. Baha sport fisher the White whale. Got out when fishing went bad in the 90's. Retired half-fast machinest,line setup man,babysitter at Carrier Corp. after 41years. Got the 16'Lund upto the Oak last year, two wire dipses and a little info. from LOU and At The Oak, I had a ball. Forgot what it was like to fish kings from a 16ft. boat.The newbies got it made,halfhour on the computer and you can catch salmon.

Has anyone been to the bay lately, is the lake road to the parking lot at the channel open? How much snow is on the ice? I hate to drive 50 miles and not be able to get to the ice. Thanks for a come back.

Those are two fine bucks Danjr. I had a good season, took one with the bow, two with shotgun and two with blackpowder. Won't tell you how many I missed, need a scope on the smokepole. Saw 23 bucks, took a nice eight point. Did my best to cut down the road kill. Hope the fishing season goes that well.

Was out on Sodus this morning.East side of Eagle Iland, found thin ice betweenConlleys and south end of iland maybe 2"s of ice, not good. The ice is good behind Leroy Iland. The bay is frozen over but I don't think it will make much uce with all the snow. Port Bay is the same.The ice is soft at the south end boat launch and not much of it. Sorry about that. South end of HoneOye Lake has a good 4"s of ice And there getting some fish. Good luck.

Try marinading your filet in salad dressing and cooking it on the grill, or cutting it into 1"cubes,shake them in Itilian bread crumbs and deep fry them. If you like a heaver coating dip them in an egg batter before you bread them.
