Shade, It is the experience of the tournament, I agree completely with Tom. One of my fondest memories of fishing the pro ams is after we won the Niagara Pro and having Vince walk up to me while I was still on stage and shaking my hand to congratulate us and saying to me "I thought you guys were just brown trout dunkers from the east end." That meant more to me than the money by far! In fact I couldn't even begin to tell you how much we won that day. I do remember that moment like it was yesterday though. It was earning the respect of your fellow competitors that will stay with you. Pete

Thanks Kevin for putting together an awesome event! Finally an event that will test your angling skills and not your "texting" prowess. I began fishing these types of tournaments over 15 years ago because I wanted to see how my fishing skills matched up against the likes of "Thrillseeker" and "Hot Line" I was reading about in the old Great Lakes Fisherman magazine. The early no comm. days of the pro am's gave me an opportunity to fish against the very best captains on a even playing field. Once these events became open comm I felt I had no way of truely knowing who I was fishing against. These guys are tough enough to compete agianst alone and even tougher when you give them a unlimited source of information from a network of other fisherman. The pro am shifted away from testing my skills as an angler to rewarding my skills as a "network builder". Looking foward to once again fishing against the very best the lake has to offer on a even playing field! Let the game begin!!!

You don't have to wonder anymore Rick! My team and I are very excited to get back in the game. This event will no doubt be the biggest and most prestigious tournament on the lake! Looking forward to fishing against you and the very best teams on the lake. The new up and coming teams as well as the established ones will make this event very special. The team that wins this one will have something to be very proud of.

Oswego Report
Primetime Pete posted a topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Brown trout fishing remains strong with some very good catches coming in. Fishing east from port from 4 mile point to the nuke plant has been the most consistant in 15 to 50 ft of water depending on the winds. Good news is quite a few big browns are being caught. We are regularly getting browns in the double digit weights class. The average weights of the two year olds are up as well. Fishing with Michigan Stingers in natural patterns off lead core lines, slide divers and riggers has been the set up. Lead cores in 2 to 7 colors have been the top producers. Remember to keep your leads off your lead lines about 25 -30 ft for the best results. Lite bite slide divers and riggers have been hot as well from time to time. Some truely big browns are out there as well we have seen fish up to 15lbs 12oz so far! 15lb 6oz BT!! 15lb 12oz TOAD!! Special thanks to all the guys from blue and red dock at Wrights Landing that helped me in getting the new windsheild on the boat! It was great to have such a great crew! I couldn't have done it without you guys! Thanks again! -

Primetime Pete replied to A-TOM-MIK's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Tom, Please put Prime Time Fishing Team down for no communication! This is the main reason we stopped fishing these events. Get it done and we'll be back in the tournament. Thanks Pete -

Fishing remained very good for kings and steelhead off Oswego from 120 to 250ft over the holiday weekend. Kings like this one that was 23lbs. 7oz were taken on spoons and prochips with attomik fly's. Hot spoons were Mi Stinger NBK and mongoose, NK Die hard, and the George Bush spoon. Pro chips in green/glow with attomik green crinkle #23 fly and white chip/attomik hammer fly. Riggers down 70 to 115ft and dipseys out 250 to 300 on #2 along with 300 to 500 ft coppers made up our spread. My stepson Kevin also took a very nice walleye just over 12lbs in the harbor saturday afternoon while jigging for red eyes. Way to go Kevin!

Well after fishing browns during the early days of the LOC and catching loads of smaller browns 2-6 lbs. I decided if we wanted to put a fish on the board we would need to fish kings so thats what we did. On thursday we landed 6 kings from 16 lbs-18lb 8oz also a nice brown, laker, and a couple of steelies. Lost a few as well finished the day 10 for 14. Things were looking good. Friday brought the same weather and the kings were snapping. We managed to land 14 fish, 11 kings, an atlantic and a laker and a steelie. All before 9am! What a great day on the water. Kings ranged in size from 13lbs to 21lbs 1oz which put us on the LOC board only to be knocked out over the weekend but still great fishing in Oswego for May! Saturday we managed a 3 more kings up to 17lbs and some very nice steelies but it was obvious the kings moved east on us as the pack did more kings east into Mexico bay. Sunday as we all know was a blowoff day. Most of our action was on spoons in the upper 50ft of water. Black green glo maulers were hot as well as Stinger Stingrays in glow alewife. We did take bigger kings on dodgers and flys. Casper and chrome silver prism/aqua blue fly were the best. Riggers set 25 to 50ft down, slide diver on 3 setting out 60 to 100ft and copper 200' sections as well as leadcore 6 to 10 colors all took fish. Can't wait to get back out soon! Capt. Pete

I agree with Tom and the Cold Steel Team open communication blows! It is this rule that kept us from fishing the Niagara tournament. I don't know if we will fish Oswego now that there is open communication there as well. Too bad people just can't play fair. Also if the rules are the same, inside the pier head by 2pm, how is it fair for the boats fishing out of Mexico to get to Oswego weigh in site in time??? With traffic in Oswego it can take quite some time to get to Oswego. Will there be a weigh in site in Mexico?
