hi Pap, small world indeed! I remember several of your posts from last season. we have a cottage on three mile bay and are up there most weekends now through fall. we plan on following the walleye's around for a few more weeks before turning attention to the deep water stuff. Also hope to fill a few buckets with perch this summer. Ill keep you guys posted on anything that seems to work. chris -
Hi Chas, I talked with you last season and im right across the bay on f.r. 26. We did very well with Michigan stingers off the boards trailing 1/2 oz gib weights and 4.5" storm shallow divers trailing half oz split shot. The pike seem to still be too cold for a "good bite" . Ill be back up this weekend and next weekend and would be glad to compare notes on the fish. Chris

Henderson and Sackets

Hi Kevin, We fished black river bay and Chaumont bay last week. Black river bay was very brown colored from run off all the way out past bull rock. Chaumont was much more clear. both bays were just over 50 deg. towards the end of the week. we had beautiful walleyes in both bays however Chaumont was better for us. stingers with 1 oz. gib weights off the boards was our best producer and 4.5" storm shallow divers ("Tenesee shad) behind half ounce split shot also took fish . 1.75 mph did the trick. The lowrance was packed with fish throughout both bays and as usual the suspended fish were takers and mid day bottom huggers were tough. it did seem that the end of the week picture was many fish exiting the bay off point peninsula. I really enjoy your river posts later in the year. Glad to swap info any time . ill be back up this weekend. Chris -

Henderson trench 8/9/13

When in doubt "bump bottom" and rapidly retrieve your downrigger ball at your desired trolling speed so you have an idea how much cable out you need in comparison to depth finder display. Also get out of the pack. We did very well with green variations and a 11 inch flasher just above the rest. There are plenty of fish in the trench but there are also plenty outside that seem less stubborn. Didn't roll a single fish on a spoon! Good luck. Nice ones, i think im right across the bay from you. Im on fire rd. 26 just before the isthmus when heading out to the point. Not much of a bass fisherman but when the lake gets rough we have been fishing the bay. Two weeks ago they were on fire for stick baits with some real brutes mixed in. Nice report. Great to hear area reports. Hopefully the upcoming weekend winds dont kick up so we can chase the kings around. Keep in touch! Chris Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Hi kevin. Very good post. I have a camp in three mile bay and primarily salmon fish but would like to get back into the walleye thing in the cape vincent section of the river. I have fished the canadian side of wolfe island years ago but mostly jigged shoals with crawlers and had great success in spring and fall. If you dont mind i have a few questions. Were do you think your lures are in the water column when trolling? Near bottom? Is your technique mainly morning/ evening? It was always my conception that those fish kind of go tight to bottom mid day and often deep. By no means do i want you to mention any specific spots but if you have any experience around cape vincent area and could suggest a general area to get started i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Ivan, im in the cape Vincent area. From a structure standpoint are they more likely found on deep water humps or shallow flats?

I fished northern Ontario for many seasons trolling and casting bucktails for muskys. Got hooked on salmon and have not done too much musky fishing but having a camp in the st Lawrence river area would like to get back into it. I know that tactics and presentation are probably quite different from what I am used to. I would greatly appreciate any advise to get me started . I understand and would certainly practice release of these fish as I know you musky hunters are strict about. I don't want anyone's secret spot or secret lures however any info would be greatly appreciated thanks chris

Thought i would start this post as many of us begin to get things ready for spring. I plan on doing some shoping for lures so i thought this is the best way to compare notes before buying lures. what are your favorite stick baits, spoons and color patterns for brown trout? thanks for any input you may have. chris
