thanks for all of the congrat's guys. the area of pa that i hunt had many more deer when i grew up. it was comon to sit in a treestand and watch deer in groups of 25-30 at a time. the problem was that during opening day you could often see 100 deer over the course of the day and not see a single buck and often those that were shot were never of this class. our game comission has implemented antler resrictions that have produced these type of bucks and heavy antlerless harvests that in my opinion have helped but have gone too far recently. my area has changed over the years from probably a 20 to 1 doe to buck ratio to much closer to 1 or 2 to one. small groups of hunters are taking it upon themselves within their cabins to expand on the states management and reduce doe harvest somewhat. overall, the rule changes seem good however there are many who have different opinion. you can't please everyone but this hunter for one is happy this year. I have a summer home in the chaumont bay area and i must say the terrain in ny. is perfect for game. you guy's are lucky to have the land that you have to hunt and fish. best of luck to all chris

never say never!! our gun rights are something that we should not asume will be forever. who would think there would be a problem with "in god we trust". you may asume that things like this wont happen in our lifetime, but we will have to fight to protect the right of gun ownership for our children. those who voted for change should remember the saying, " be careful or you may get what you wished for. -
still looking for interested buyer on this?

I have a 1.04 acre parcel of land near chaumont bay that i have used for a campsite close to salmon fishing in the henderson trench and black river. also it is centrally located to fish chaumont bay for walleye and pike or the st lawrence river for a little bit of all types of fishing. i have a new storage building with loft ,100 amp service ,and high capacity well. there are underground utilities to the back of the property with 2 -50 amp hookups and two seperate water connections for two rv's. taxes are verry low. i purchased a camp on three mile bay and no longer need this land . it is a great quiet location in a wonderful shaded setting. the property is level and kep well groomed. asking 27k. you can contact me at

the storm monday am created a unbelevable surge in the bay that rose and fell 5 feet every hour. it washed many boats off there lift's and there are many piled up on the shores. my boat was floating above the dock one minute and sitting on the bottom an hour later. this surged all day monday. If you have a camp in this area you should go and check out your stuff. [/img]

we fished the trench, labor day weekend. 38 boats in line from high rocks to lighthouse. sat am. took one huge female 60 down over 80, white on white. sat pm. 5 footers at the lightthouse. headed for camp early. sun am. beautiful conditions with no fish. ovserved almost no fish being netted all weekend. $200.00 in gas for boat makes one expensive fish. no regrett's will be back next weekend. see you then chris

kerchner replied to MountAiryEd's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
the eye's will be for the most part "out of your range" with your boat rental. try cherry island and sawmill bay for smallmouth and largemouth. also there has been some good perch action off of cherry island. best of luck chris -
great info, thanks. chris

i fished black river bay am. sat. and chaumont pm. sat. with the exact same results. I wonder if the high temps two weeks ago pushed them out of the bays??? keep those chaumont reports up. love to hear them.
