  1. I spoke with Tyler at Sirius Archery yesterday and he encouraged me to strive for 550 grains. I won't have time to switch over this year but that's my plan for next year!!!!
  2. I don't want to re-open the fixed blade vs. mechanical broadhead issue. All i can say is that i have had pass throughs and excellent blood trails with mechanicals AND i have had shots at 15 yds that hit the shoulder blade and i watched the arrow fall out after the deer ran 10 yards. I plan to switch to heavy arrows, fixed blades with High FOC. Have any of you ordered the Ranch Fairy's Arrow/Field Point Test Kit? thank you, andre
  3. WOW! you're making me want to move there! andre
  4. if you don't plan to keep the fish, it looks to me (from various guide websites) that you can fish all year. Am i wrong about that? andre
  5. Hello all, I live in western New York and have to attend a conference this May in Vancouver and there is no way I'm going to travel there and not fish!!!! Whether you fished the Vancouver area "doing it yourself" or hired a guide, if you have any experience fishing that area, I would really appreciate any info or advice. thanks very much, andre

  7. I'd also prefer the anterless to be late rather than pre-season. Not only less spooking of bucks but also gives momma doe more time to impart the knoweldge the fawns need to survive dre
  8. hi all, Can any of you recommend a good mechanic near Hemlock? (For outboard motor repairs). Hank is as good as they get and I used to drive 100 minutes each way for him to work on my motors, but I really need someone closer to me. thank you! andre

  14. Hi Les, thanks for the walmart link. Unfortunately, it's too long for NY regs. I can't seem to find one 25' long or less. best, dre
  15. Model # is TW 9000
  16. Excellent condition. Barely used. With owner's manual. $300. I live in Canadice, NY. It is very heavy so it will need to be picked up.
  17. I'm also having trouble finding a place to buy a gill net (not a cast net) that meets NY DEC regs (max. 25', max 200 square feet, max 1" mesh). Do any of you know where such a net can be purchased? thanks, dre
  18. Hi all, i have been out several nights with lights and have attracted 100s if not 1000s of alewives to about 4 feet beneath the surface. I have been unable to get them with a dipnet. Then i tried Sabiki rigs and caught only 6 in 2 hours. What is the most effective way to get a good haul of alewives (again, i am able to draw them to my boat with lights, i just don't know how to get them IN my boat). I wish i could use a throw net (those were so effective when i lived in Texas). I am surprised to see that gill nets are allowed for alewives. I have never used a gill net. I presume they have weights on the bottom and i could just let it down, attached to my boat? I appreciate any input on how to catch alewives. thanks! dre from the DEC fishing regs: GEAR FOR TAKING BAITFISH In addition, alewives are the only fsh that may be taken as follows: Gill nets: maximum length 25 feet, maximum area 200 square feet, maximum size 1" bar Anytime Canadice, Canandaigua, Cayuga, Hemlock, Keuka, Owasco, Otisco, and Seneca lakes.
  19. I fish Hemlock almost exclusively. Any help will be much appreciated andre

  22. Hi all, I know some of the trout regs changed in NYS but my quick read is that they haven't changed for the fingerlakes - am I correct about that? thanks, andre
  23. I don't need docks to launch, but I'm guessing it's still frozen over. Does anyone know for sure? thanks, andre
