  1. Hi all, I began bowhunting about 10 years ago and practiced with field points and hunted with grim reapers. I killed and retrieved about 15 deer with grim reapers but I also had several hit the shoulder bone and not penetrate. So 2 years ago I decided to switch to Muzzys. I would be completely dialed in with my field points but with the Muzzys i couldn't make a "kill shot" on my targets. People on this forum said i needed my bow tuned. So i took it to Traditions and he said he tuned it perfectly. I couldn't hunt last year due to a back injury and surgery. This year, after lots of research, i decided to switch to Stinger (single piece of metal, 2 cutting edges). I am again dialed in with field points but when i shoot the Stingers, not nearly as accurate. Is it important that the Stingers be completely vertical? because mine are not (due to the inserts, when they are tight they are at some different angle). Can anyone give me advice on this? thanks, andre

  5. i often catch one or two eyes on Conesus trolling shallow at night. I have trolled many times during the day and never caught an eye. i often see nice marks near the bottom in 25-40fow. I think they might be eyes. I have jigged many bass and lake trout, so i want to give jigging for eyes a try. My understanding is that eye jigging is more subtle than lake trout jigging. What lures do you recommend for jigging? soft plastics? spoons? Any info will be greatly appreciated! thanks, andre
  6. HI all, i know this is the lake ontario forum but i am hoping to fish lake erie next week for the first time ever. My brother and his son will be visiting from Texas and neither have ever caught an eye. I have not been doing well on Conesus so far, so i want to make the trip to Erie. On conesus, i often catch eyes trolling lures like Bomber Long A's in 6-12 fow at night. I have tried trolling Conesus during the day deeper, but have not caught any eyes. Will similar tactics work on Erie = deeper in the daytime and shallower during the night? i don't want to drive too far, so are Buffalo and Niagara the two options for ports? thanks very much, andre
  7. ii saw them on the Rapala site but couldn't find where i could buy them
  8. I will definitely be buying the TD13s when they are available! on a different note: Justin, my experience is that walleye bite best when the water is 52-53 degrees. I have caught them in 50 but rarely in temps less than 50. I checked the temp at conesus yesterday and it was only 47 (at the state launch). I'm just trying to decide if it's worth it for me to head out (the late night fishing messes up my sleep). I LOVE nightfishing for eyes, but not if it's very unlikely they'll be biting. Thanks for your advice! andre
  9. I love seeing them spawn. Are they there in any numbers yet? (or have they already peaked and are heading back to the lake?) thanks, dre

  12. I may very well be wrong, but I thought most of the mercury (such as what is high in the Adirondacks) was from industry to the west of us. If that’s the case why would a Owasco be the only fingerlake to have mercury issues? Is there some type of plant just west of Owasco That would be affecting it? 13. My buddy and I fished out of Woodville Sunday for eight hours. We ran six lines the whole time and did everything I could think of… From Riggers to planer boards to Dipsy divers with flashers. We started out shallow, then we went deep. we went halfway down the lake. we worked both sides. We ran every color and every size of sticks and spoons and we never got a hit the entire day!. We marked a few scattered fish Throughout the column but could not find any concentrations. And we never saw any bait at all!. I was flabbergasted. I’m interested in your reactions and comments, thanks, Andre Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  19. Hi all, i am just beginning to jig for panfish. I don't like to go out of my way to bait stores, so i just want to stick with artificial lures. I have caught a few on buckshot rattle spoons, but i'm curious what your favorite jigging lures are. also, do you find it helpful to tip the jig with something with scent? if so, is there some kind of gulp-like soft plastic you use? thanks! andre
