  1. Hi all, i need more of the type of crimp you see in the attached photo. Does anyone know where i can get them? (preferably by order; i'd rather not drive far for them). Or, does anyone have a few extra they would sell and ship to me? thanks, andre

  3. you might want to check out the attached article; those may be tumors. According to the article, tumors of the lateral line/lateral line syndrome were common (21% of mature and 8% of immature lake trout) in 4 fingerlakes (owasco, seneca, canandaigua, cayuga) between 1985-1994. dre cancer in fingerlakes trout.pdf

  11. Hi all, My buddy and i made our first trip of the year sunday. Due to the cold weather and it being our first time out this year, we didn't get lines out til 9a (which allowed a few other boats to have broken the ice for us - literally). Surface temps never exceeded 34.5 (we didn't go too far N. of the salt plant) and the bite was slow. Boxed a 21" laker at 12:30 and landed a few undersize LLs (one was down 240"). Boxed an 18" laker at 5:30 and my buddy suggested calling it a day. i had pulled in all but my downrigger rod and had just said "5 more minutes" when this 9# brown hit my cheater (ball was down about 160, so about 80' down). A great way to end my first trip of the year! dre
  12. Nautitroller said that surface temps out of Watkins were 33.7-34.2. I see that Fri night will be in the teens, then a high on Sat of only around 25, then low teens Sat night. Do you think Watkins may ice over by Sun am? thanks for your input, dre

  15. Hi all, this pic just came up on my screen saver and it doesn't look like the other King pics i have (compare it to the second photo). It doesn't really look like a landlocked to me, but it also looks different than a lot of the kings i've caught. thanks for your input, dre
  16. HI all, I hope to get on the water sunday for the first time this year. Jason recommends Severne over Watkins at the moment. I have never fished out of Severne. Is anyone willing to give me any Severne info that may increase of my odds of eating fish sunday night? Anything info - like N or South of the launch, E or West side, and depths would be MUCH APPRECIATED!!!! best wishes to all, dre

  22. speaking of soft plastics and other weird things in lake trouts' stomachs, my buddy and i fished canadaigua out of woodville about 2 weeks ago. Marked ZERO bait and only a few fish, but managed to boat 4 lakers. This salamander and large front body of a soft plastic were in a 6 lb laker's stomach. Caught the fish down 180 - are those salamanders that deep? Can anyone tell me anything more about the salamader? dre
