  1. Rob You should do it yourself all you need is fillet knife, saw and cheap meat grinder. If you have a garage to hang it for skinning or a tree in the yard you are all set. Just lay down some plastic in the garage and have at it. I do about 10 deer a year in my garage and make a bout 200lbs of burger and 300lbs sausage after the season is over as well. If you need help getting started pm me and I will give you a call. You can save allot of money. Gene
  2. Yankee Thanks for the input I am putting the boat away this weekend but I will talk with you more about it this spring. I plan to do a May trip and I will need some input for the spring conditions. I did mark alot of fish of woodlawn beach (senecs shoals area) But the water had alot of sediment in it so the clearity was very low. I dont know if the conditions where the problem or not? Gene
  3. I have not used this guy but I have been told buy people that live in the clayton area that this guy is the man you want to go with. http://www.1000islandsfishing.com/01PGGeneral.htm
  4. Well we went to lake erie and launched at the buffalo harbour with high hopes of some great smallie fishing. We had crabs, minnows, gulb bait and assorment of tube baits. We tired drop shot rigs and some other styles as well but had very little luck we only landed 1 smallie about 14". We fished near the round house, seneca shoals and out by the red can north of seneca shoals. We also tried fishing along the inner and outer break walls hell we even tried trolling stickbaits. We did mark a lot of fish in the seneca shoals area but we could not get them to hit anything. It was a pretty nice day on the water but I will admit I had hoped for a better outing for the last trip of the season. I guess it is time to start shooting some deer and making some sausage. Thank you to everyone on this site you all have helped me in one way or another all year long. I hope I was a little help to the few posts I responded to as well. Good Luck Tight Lines Gene

  9. Thanks for the input guys I will give my friend a call and see if he will have space in his barn. Thanks Gene
  10. Does shrink wrapping your boat really hold up to the winter's around WNY or is it that much better to just put the boat inside. I have a place to put my boat inside but it is 45 miles away and it is hard to get it out before may 1st and I was hopeing for some early brown trout action next spring. I have 5 acres to store my boat outside and thought when I was ready to fish I could just cut the wrap off and go. One more question I have a 18' boat with an outboard on it what do you think would be a good price for shrink wrapping if I was going to have it done. Thanks Gene
  11. Hi Guys I was thinking of heading up to lake erie out of the buffalo harbour for small mouth the weekend of oct 4th does anybody know if the the smallie fishing will still be good enough or should I just put the boat away now. I figured I would head to seneca shoals and drift crawfish and rubber goby's drop shot style in 15 to 30' of water, does that sound right or is there a better way to do it this late in the year. Thanks Gene
  12. I got a 81% I have never taken a boaters course but I would love for the whole family to take one together. What age does a child have to be to take a coast gaurd course??
  13. mower I have a 1802 18' trophy it is a 2004 with a 115hp 4 stroke merc outboard and so far I love this boat. A friend of mine has a 21' in a 2006 and he likes it alot as well. If it was made in 2002 or later it should be a very good boat for the money! Can you get better I am sure you can but for the money they are a nice boat. Good luck with what ever decision you make.
  14. I have been running familar bite which is a whole brined alewive , it has worked great behind a 11" flasher 50-60" leader off a down rigger @ 1.8 to 2.2 mph @ the ball. Search for familar bite on this site and you will get all the info you need.

  20. Duane Thanks for the support! I caught my first 25lb plus salmon (out in the lake) and a few in the 18 to 22 range as well this weekend. I also caught a coho that weighed over 15 that was a surprise I didnt think they got that big!! You never know if i keep dragging that meat behind those flashers something cool could happen. My Dad caught his first good sized king on sunday man he could note wipe that grin off his face the rest of the day.
  21. On my boat not that I have had to worry about it yet!!! We would split it evenly among the people on board and if it is more than $100 a piece the boat gets a share as well for upgrades or tackle. Man I hope I have to sit down and figure out who gets what from a nice check!! But in all honesty if I could just see my boat name on the board for a day that would be great and make all this worth wild.
  22. Gambler It sounds like a great set for a hunting camp, young folks just starting or a fishing cottage to bad we replaced our set at home and moved the old stuff down to camp. I might know a few people who could use it so I will ask around.
  23. What windburn is saying is the fish weights, dates and times reference the spring derby not the Fall.
  24. Read my clayton reports the pike should still be there and those trolling techniques work great for late spring, summer and early fall.
  25. Nice pics! Good luck seeing that big one on the ground!!
