Guys - I would like to run coppers off the small boat without being down the shoot or having to deploy big boards ( not a fan of inlines!!) . Has anyone been running their coppers off outriggers and if so what are the pitfalls?? Thx

Bill Fished 12 - 25 ft - had to stay close to shore early or you were totally on intruments to know where you were - it was really something - we did wander out into 100+ crossing the bay from myers to portland pt and did hook up on some fish while out there We hit the real muddy stuff about half way between foot of estys and south end and turned back north at that point - with the wind yesterday it may have pushed it a bit more south

Fished Cayuga yesterday with a buddy of mine to get a shakedown in on his boat. First let me start by saying I am not sure if I have ever seen the fog any thicker on Cayuga than yesterday - the first 30 mins was just plain spooky We fished Myers to southend and back on the east shore going 9/13 with a mix of nice fish including Browns, LL, Lakers and a decent pike. Ran a mix of flat lines with Sticks and DRs with spoons - all baits took fish including F9 Hot Olive Rapala, #6 Flat Rap in a Shiner/shad pattern, A mid diver Thunderstick in fire tiger, Orange & White AC Shiner - all run on flat lines. Also #2 EvilEye in a ring arouind the rosey pattern took several nice fish 4 down 40 back off a rigger and a #31 Aplena in CHart/Orange took several LLs 8 down 40 back off the other rigger Best concentration of fish seemed to be Portland to Salmon Creek - although we did take a double on the south troll just as we started by the cottages at the foot of Estys ( one fish was the pike) All in all a decent day

I have always run Cannons ( 30ish yrs?) and they have never failed me. My newest set is a pair of the their first generation High Speeds and I dont care much for them compared to my older Mag10s - Switches suck and they start and stop too suddenly. I cant speak for the newer model that came out last year but have heard good things about them. I regularly fished with a buddy that had BigJons and they were decent riggers but I would not take them over the cannons - just seemed lighter weight compared to the Cannons. Last year I fished a boat with Scottys and I was very impressed - based on my experiences they would rate above the BJs and depending on how good the newest cannons are may even be the top of the list

Uglystik BWD1131 - I like the 7' lite action - easy to handle in the boat - great fun no matter what size the fish (and they will put a whuppin on a king too)

Not sure if this is in the right place but... I am interested in trying my hand at catching some catfish - my understanding is that they can be taken in the Mays Point area and was hoping that someone could give me some starting points for trying to get them. Also any other ideas of good places to try - I am located in Rochester Thanks Ted

Rez I routinely fish off of Sandy Creek in my 16' Lund during July and Aug. As long as you watch the forecast you will be fine and generally I find I can fish more days that I cant. Your Alumacraft should be fine Good Luck

the ledges on Cayuga can eat a lot of tackle Although we used to have one of those speed devices that just used the boat speed to swing a weight hanging over the side that we used way back when flatlining in the south end The electronics dont help as much when you are pulling copper on a vic rig

I am looking at trying to rig a boat that we can use for hunting ducks ( primarily divers) but also use down on the finger lakes . I would also like to be able to use it as a winter fishing boat for Cayuga so was considering something in the 16ft range, aluminum, tiller steer. I am hoping some folks on here might be willing to share some ideas about the viability of this approach and also how it could best be rigged up Thanks in advance for the help Ted

I am looking for some suggestions/recommendations for a shorter copper rod that I can run in my smaller boat - something 71/2' to 8 ' What are folks running out there?? Thanks

Looking for some help with my new HDS 7. Last trip out I opted to clear the 'tracks' off my GPS display . Not sure what I did but now I am not marking any new tracks. I then played with it for several hours but cant seem to get it to start marking tracks again. I am a staunch lowrance person, have run them for 30+ years without a single failure and I am also a 35 year IT professional . I am happy with how this unit works but I have to say that the new HDS units have the most illogical, overbearing menus I have ever seen WIth that rant expressed Im hoping that some here knows a trick that I have not been able to sort out thru the menus and the manual? Thanks

I have an outboard and a kicker and am running a 3 rigger set up with the center rigger being a 5' boom cannon running out over the main outboard and 2 4' bomm cannons being run out the sides off the corners. I have had no issues with this set up and actually like the way it openned up the back of the boat compared to a 4 rigger set - I have a swivel and retroease on the center rigger and swing it 45 degrees away from the kicker side to set it . I have always netted fish off a corner so icould let the other side of the boat stay set up and this rigger has not been an issue when doing that. The only benefit I have is that when I am trolling I dont really have to worry about the center rigger and the spinning prop
