  3. Lol.... Yea, I can't justify 35-40k on a Duckwater after putting two new Motors in tbe MissD last winter... Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Yup...40hp not going to do it... At the time of the year I intend to use it, a reliable "Get off the water now!" Motor is a priority... Rest doesn't have to look pretty. Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  6. Hey Guys... I've been on the seach for an aluminum center console... Starcraft or similar rig... Prefer a 21-22 but would entertain an 18. Must have a reliable outboard as I will be using it in December, January and possibly on the Atlantic... If anyone comes across a rig like that, please PM me... Much appreciated... 8. I agree with Gambler on a lot of things.... Including the pen rearing projects being very important for the fishery... The emphasis is on survivability instead of imprinting... Even when the stocking numbers were high ( not this joke we are contending with in recent years)... The returns were drastically lower after the closing of Caledonia... Even as good as the fishing was the past three summers, the return was low... So as far as imprinting, I don't buy into it. I do buy into the increased survivability factor... At least at the Genny I do.. The stained water hides our little buddies from the aerial assault that other ports contend with. No doubt that Caledonia coming back on line would increase returns... And like Rick said, a different hatchery not hooked into the S.R. could probably benefit the West end also... It's getting old going to these meetings and getting the "Talk to the hand" with any ideas we come up with... Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Absolutely! The DEC has openly admitted that the main objective of pen rearing projects are to increase survival rates rather than imprinting.... 2-1 survival to be exact. So there is no secret that since salmon raising at the Caledonia Hatchery has ceased, the fall runs in central and western tribs have drastically diminished. There really is only one cause... Now I'm a big proponent of the pen rearing programs. I just adjust my trips to focus on July and August for offshore Pelagics.. You can't count on Sept Stagers for potential targets. Yes, I have a big enough boat to go offshore to fish 2yr olds and Steelhead. The unfair thing is the small boats who rely on the fall stagers... Sucks for sure... As far as talking the talk and walking the walk.... Vince Definetly walks the walk... Like Vince and many posters on this thread, I've fished the Lake for over 40 years... No fancy diploma or a laundry list of white coats in my work history... Just hundreds of fish autopsies a season... I'd say that hours on the water and practical hands on experience would mean more than simply regurgitating data from articles and sitting behind a computer screen... 99% of us that Fish the Lake and the tributaries want better king fishing... The difference is in opinions of how do we get there... Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I'll be waiting.... Always wanted to do a YF trip... Good luck! Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  15. That day we encountered some real funky currents.... Normally I like 2.3-2.5 for BTs... Couldn't go slower than 3.2 going into em... Even with a bag out. Tossed out optimizers and they chewed em up. I would have never believed it. Optimizers can be trolled up as fast as 3.7.... Mags even faster.... I don't really see a need to troll that fast, but in rough conditions, or freaky currents they work awesome. Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  19. Well.... Here it is again.... New venue, some new teams... Some old competitors. The field is 44 boats. Great job guys and gals. We are extremely pleased with the turnout considering the high water screwing up the docking/ launches. So in a couple hours we will blast off for the 3rd Annual MCOC... Be Safe...Use common sense... And have a great tournament. **** Give yourselves plenty of time to be in line NO LATER than 3pm ***** Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. The weigh in will be on the River side of the Port of Rochester.... Contestants coming from vehicles park near Bill Gray's and walk coolers along the river to the weigh in... If coming by boat ( easiest) pull up on the wall and pull off your coolers.... Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Larry.... Just for clarification...you can leave from any port, but you must end your day at Ibay,Roch, or Braddocks? Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Ok.... Here are the cliff notes for the tourney... Saturday... 200 to get in... Cannot leave mouth of Genny or Ibay till 0500, Braddocks- CANNOT LEAVE THE BAY before 0500... Must be in line NO LATER Than 1500 ( 3pm) 5 fish ...only one can be a lake trout... Only 5 fish allowed in your cooler In the event of Tstorms rolling in through the day...use your common sense... At this point your and your crew's safety is ON YOU! Friday- 100 to get in.. Can leave any port... 1 King,1 Brown,1 steelhead, 1 Laker, 1king Weigh in.... Must be in line NO LATER than 3pm. Saturday AM...everyone monitor 72 for departure. Allow me to say this... The tourney is not designed to be a big prestigious event... It's a nice low key tourney. The goal is to bring some joy to some sick kid's lives... What can be better? Fishing, Laughs, raising money for a great charity ( a charity that fields a team for the event!!!) According to Channel 13'S Glenn Johnson... The weather looks really good. Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Depends..... In the summer, point your rig North..... Find more stable water.... Once an East wind comes, the lake will probably flip... Offshore, the temps tend to stay consistant Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. After careful consideration, the tournament comittee has authorized participants to leave from Braddocks bay.. this is only because the Genesee River public launch is closed. People wishing to leave from Braddocks will not be able to leave the bay before 0500 on Saturday... We have recruited individuals to police this rule and will report anyone leaving early... Participants should monitor channel 72 the morning of the event for departure announcement... Due to set speed limits, participants leaving Irondequoit Bay and the Genesse River may stage outside their ports until 0500.... Reminder weigh in time is 3pm..1500 hrs. Give yourselves time for traffic or the Oroarke bridge if you decide to travel to the port of Rochester Marina weigh in.... Matt Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Well Dusty.... I'll be looking forward to seeing you run the tournament next year... Cheers! Sent from my VS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
