  1. Yes ... Started SE.... Then cranked around out of the SW... Normally not a big deal ... But wind that strong does funny things to maneuverabilty. My boat sits a little higher out of the water, so the wind grabbed it a few times .. I would have tucked in super tight, but the shoreline was chocolate milk from the Genny and I bay getting flushed with the monsoon we have been getting...
  2. Absolutely.... 12 ft+ I use the the #1 chinooks ..... I still might set the sinker rig if I have enough peoples. Sinker rig is a flat line with a rubber core football shaped sinker flat lined out .. My normal set is 6 board lines, two divers, two sinker sets, and two riggers ...I just pull the divers and riggers out when in less than 10 ft.
  3. I use the square motorcycle wheel weights... Adhesive on one side .. also to a brass sleeve for the line to slide through. Releases smoke down my tow line .. I've never had them get blown back... Except for today. Lol......
  4. Left the dock and thought " this forecast is BS. The lake is mint. Great water color, not terrible waves." Full send! Well mother nature decided she was the boss and only allowed us to fish for a short time. The waves never were super big, it was the wind gust that killed us. I use weights on my Amish clipper releases and they were still getting blown up the planer board line. Called the day early and tucked away the MissD for tomorrow's bigger blow. We did manage a bit of action though. Report below.
  5. Nope... No other idiots out in that mess... Just this idiot. ( Me)... Lmfao
  6. Very good bite today despite the gloomy windy weather.... All spoons for us today.
  7. I'm not sure..... I think weekends , but Randy would know more .. shoot him a call or text ..
  8. Wow....... How cool is that!!!!!? Congrats on the fantastic fish. I'd be researching a top notch fish taxidermist for a replica.
  9. If anyone is interested in helping out feeding the 138k king salmon in pens, please contact Captain Randy Claus at (585) 739-0569. He is the coordinator of the feeding schedule. There are specific times each day that the fish need to be fed. The pens are located in the north docks of Shumway Marina ..
  10. Wow! Busy day is an understatement...

  12. Earliest I've ever been in.... I thought about going in last week. Glad I didn't... Hate shoveling snow out of the boat... Good luck this season!
  13. Not a bad shakedown. Browns... Check out the YouTube link for the report on what took fish today.
  14. Genesee River Pen rearing project update: Volunteers will be gathering Friday April 5th to get the pens in order and in the water...if you would like to help, the pens will be at the usual location at Shumway Marina at the far docks.. we will be meeting that day at roughly 3pm. There will be 138k young Chinook Salmon delivered to these pens on April 9.... Any additional information will be updated....
  15. Pending......
  16. These are the newer models ( Blue) . They have Torpedo wire on them for running divers... I've only used these reels a few times and I've decided to go the Diawa route. Disclaimer .. the clicker went on one of these reels after using it half a season. I sent both the reels in, with a batch of older reels to get repaired. Brian at Rochester Reel Repair squared both reels away and they are in perfect working condition... The price is firm $400.00 for both. Buyer pays shipping.... Can be picked up in Rochester...
  17. Bill .... Having those Fisher around is not necessarily a good thing... Especially for Turkey population. Those buggers eat a lot of young turkeys. I hunt in PA. The property owner said the Fisher population increased one year . Same year he saw zero turkeys ( normally saw large flocks). I agree they are cool animals, just killing machines....
  18. Here comes a confession..... I went on a bird watching forum on Facebook... Used my name, but I would watch the reports of the birdwatchers about all the sea ducks they would see miles offshore with their spotting scopes.... Once the species that I wanted to hunt started showing up in their surveys, I'd head out offshore, drift a line of Scoter blocks and have a great day ... The people finally figured out what was happening and they stopped posting waterfowl sightings... Was it illegal? ... Nope... Not at all..... Was I a d!Ck for using their information? Maybe.... But sometimes it pays off to be resourceful. Now these guys using the Internet to poach... That's no bueno... And that fine they got is laughable...
  19. Could have entered the Kentucky Derby with that sucker .. nice job Bill
  20. Thanks for the info
  21. For a dozen block set ups.... I'd set six on one end of the boat and six on the other .. pocket in middle could work .. I anchor my decoys with window weights... Couple of big ones on one end if it's rolly.. I also use a couple car rotors on one end if I run my supermag battleship decoys.. as far as anchoring the boat,. Depends how big the boat is... I used a Danforth anchor used on a 30 ft boat .. ..
