I delivered some last years roasts to a guy starting a new venison processing business In Albion. Deer Done Right is the name of the business. Doug seems like a great guy. He let me try a piece of summer sausage he makes...It was delicious. he does slim sticks, Sausage (breakfast, summer and Italian), Hot dogs, Hamburger mixes and other things I can't remember. There is a Facebook page. He does not Butcher deer there, he just processes meat into whatever you want. I ordered 25 lbs of cheddar hot dogs and some sticks... I will advise once I have the finished product....

Wishinfishin.... Get after em. I'd be willing to bet that the some bluebills and Bufflehead will be around. For me, shooting popcorn ducks is a warm up for the single digit degree days of the western late season. Teal, woodies, and Mallards taste really good...but there's something about watching a giant flock of Cans dump into your spread.... The search for a new 4legged hunting partner has started.... English Choc Male.... I have some feelers out....possibly this Spring. Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Today was bittersweet .... My buddy, his father and I went out and got a really nice mixed bag including Greenwings, wigeon, mallards, a couple Bull Pintails and a sky carp. Great friends to share a blind with. The bitter part was every time a bird hit the water, I looked to my left waiting for the splash from my Parker boy diving in for the retrieve... Some of you might remember, I lost my boy 7 months ago. Great day , 3 man limit, great company, but a really long lonely ride home.... This is the last duck season I will be without a four legged partner.... Shoot em in the face boys... And duck hunting is nothing without a dog in the blind! A few years back I traveled to St. Paul Alaska on a waterfowl hunt. pre planning was in full effect and I had a local gunsmith go through my 870supermag to make sure she was tip top. When I got to the Island , Ive never seen such crappy weather. On top of the cold wind and snow, I had to contend with salt water smashing us in the face. Two other guys had some real expensive guns ...Super black eagles. After day 1 I field stripped the 870, ran it under a hot shower, dried it out and cleaned it. I did this every day and the gun never failed. Those SBE's froze up everyday.... 1,500 dollar single shots (when they actually shot). This past late season was pretty brutal. My buddy had a Nova and it froze up wicked. The other guys in the blind all had 870s and they worked fine... This is not a bash on eye-talian guns. they are fine weapons. If your just hunting the early season, or is semi mild weather I think those kind of guns would be Ok. For me, duck season doesn't start till the Divers arrive in Late November. I like the 870 for the simplicity of stripping and cleaning it. The gun goes bang every time I squeeze the trigger and If a duck is within 40 yards, more times than not its a dead one.... Good luck man....

I've had thousands of rounds through my 870 supermag.... I've hunted some of the most extreme conditions ( -20.... Winds blowing 50 with 10ft seas breaking in my face) and I've never had my supermag fail. If I ever went back to an auto, I have a Beretta extrema.... Awesome gun... Shoots sweet. I'm partial to the 870 because it makes me slow down my shots and I feel I'm a better wingshot because of it. The A-5 is a great looking gun. I always liked the old humpbacks. Good luck with your decision and good luck with your season. Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app

John... When we released the steelhead I think we only had a couple dead ones.... Pretty good survival rate.... The real issue is the cormorant predation. Nothing I'd like better than if the DEC opened up a season on those suckers.... I'd spend a Lot of money on steel shot! Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app

More anti-charter boat rhetoric....Seems to be a common theme with this guy's posts.... The DEC is always right and the charter boats at the root of all evil to the lake.... The same charter guys who are instrumental in setting up the pen rearing programs (which benefits everyone). The same Charter guys who help the DEC with studies by saving fish heads. Yup....The Charter guys are the bad guys........ LMAO!
