  1. Scotty.....lol..... Funny stuff Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. You guys get too technical.... Just put the balls where you mark fish and let em work. Kings will hit out of temp all the time if that's where the bait was... Fish the marks.... Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. 70 ft... It was pretty late when I got on em. I'm a spoon guy, so I have a lot of confidence with spoons once the bite slows down. When they are on the chew, it's tough to beat paddle and flies/meat Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. If the captain busts his butt, you absolutely should tip him. Its a service .... Similar to a server in a restaurant.... Despite what people think, Charter Captains don't make a lot of money. Between fuel, insurance, gear replacement, paying a mate, and all the other expenses of boat maintenance..... The old saying is totally true. B.O.A.T - break out another thousand. Have a great time on your trip. Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Are you kidding??? You guys smoked em. Talk soon man.Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Your not kidding Kevin.... Guys in the ports get spoiled at the gas pumps. I won't complain too much because the quality and Consistant fishing we have out of the Rochester basin is worth the extra run time. Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. We fished Friday out of our home port as part of an 8 boat party/ mini corporate outing. Had a good Idea where some decent fishing was from the results of the trip. Saturday AM, we met at the boat and weighed the options of going the 14 miles to the Flemish Cap, or run 16 miles to our home port honey hole. 2 miles wasn't a deal breaker, so back to Rochester we went. Set up deeper water and put out a spin Doctor At-Tom-Mik fly pattern. The first two hours was a complete Sh!% show. We landed 12 big buckeyes, 4 kings, and lost two screamers (one still has a spinny /fly hanging out of his jaw). Two of our Kings were Majors, but two were the mid teens. At the end of the day we upgraded our 4 Kings to all in the 20 lb class. Interesting thing about the day was after all the boat traffic inside, the Kings quickly became negative. Diving out of the rigs on the screen. We grabbed some of our go to spoons and ran them with longer leads off the riggers. FingerLakes tackle company Frogs and AK47 took quite a few shots. Ive always had trouble with mid day negative kings, but with longer leads , I think that made the difference. We ended up 5th.... I want to thank Scott Bengsch (Silver Fox), Rob Westcott ( Legacy) and Brian Gambell(Escape) for all the hard work they put into this tournament. I would like to also congratulate Capt. Jerry Fellucca (Runnin Rebel) and teamates for the great box they brought in to the weigh in. Anybody looking to dip thier toe into the tournament trail, this is the even to get in. It wont break your bank, there are alot of good people who fish it. Im absolutley NOT a tournament fisherman (I dont consider the LOC as a tournament), but it will be tough for me to not fish this event every year... Tight lines boys!
  8. Thank you Rob, Scott, and Brian. Great tournament as always. Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Ive had some incredible chews in west winds and a 2-3 ft chop. East winds suck. They tend to move the cold water around (usually into shore) and really screw up any kind of themocline that's set up. West winds tend to push the colder water deeper. After an East Blow, I usually head for offshore where the more stable water is. Curents and Temperature movements are a big part of choosing where to start.

  13. Exactly what I do.... Its nice bacuase you cut down on the "pig tail" effect, and I use 50# mono so when the fleas show up, I dont get them balled up right by the diver.....
  14. WOW...... Brings me back..... The up and comers now are totally spoiled with forums like this. Back in the day, getting info out of guys was like pulling teeth out of a lion. The learning curves are definely shortened these days. Years ago, before dipseys, copper, leadcores... Down riggers reigned supreme. Now with the cleaner water, difference in forage and invasive species, the tactics of old tend not to work like they used to.... Not to mention the Salmon being raised at the Caledonia Hatchery.... The fish were monsters and numerous....
  15. DandyGlows, Michigan squids with license plates, north port mailers, tiger plugs..... And the list goes on.... Anyone have the fish hawk hand held wheel with cable and a temp probe you rubberbanded to a herbie weight? Lol Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. 50 lb leader is not necessary.... Especially for spoons.... 30lb for flasher flies....20 or even 17 for spoons.... I definitely would use flourocarbon. .... And no need for snubbers. Check your leaders for nicks, and keep your drags loose. Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  18. Been fishing the Lake since the first ESLO derby.... Of all the years, I remember the late 90s .... Needed a 40lb king to make the ESLO fall leaderboard... Crazy years Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. FF.... Flasher & Fly Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. If you made a lot of turns, that would indicate how fast the fish want it.... I try to pay attention to that kinda stuff. Of course there are those days when there is no rhyme or reason why fish chew. Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. The most important part of the fish hawk is the speed.... Matching the right speed with the right lure is most important. Lures like evil eyes or suttons do well at slower speeds. Heavier spoons like NKs work better at faster speeds.... The fish hawk is The most esential piece of equipment on my boat Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Wilson, Olcott, and Oak Orchard are considered west end ports. Central Basin ports are Sandy Creek, Rochester, Irondequoit Bay, and Sodus Bay. You wont be disappointed. Lake Ontario is home of the giants. Sent from my VS980 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
