  2. They will absolutely come into Goose decoys. Find a field with Geese in it....set your goose decoys out in front of you at 11:00 and 2:00....open pocket at 12:00....right next to you put out a mojo mallard....Ducks are suckers for Mojo's in fields. Here's the kicker....when honkers are coming shut off the mojo...honkers do not like them....good luck. Sent from my VS920 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Bill.....I'm using it for whitetails and bears right now.... Sent from my VS920 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Sighted in the .308 today...Remington and Black Hills really flew like crap, but the Federal 168 grn hollow points were unreal. That savage is amazing. Big thanks goes out to everyone who pmed me or replied to this post..... First shot was slightly high and barely right. 2nd shot was thru the first hole( buddy watched hits thru the spot scope). 3rd shot was in the Bull. I will take that group all day long.... 5. The pattern that stood out from the rest for me this year was the Alewife pattern from FLT. I caught Kings, Steelhead, and Brownies on it. Bob painted up a Slasher that looks just like the spoon and it was smokin on staging kings with a glow or Mt. Dew Bait head. The die hard spoons were excellent as well. SSW had its days , but the consistent producers were the Alewife and Die hards.
  6. Condolances from the Port Of Rochester. To hear a young man passing at an early age is a tough thing. I'm glad to hear that he was a steward for the enviornment, the outdoors sports, as well as the NYstate Fishery. To say a picture is worth a thousand words is an understatement. A person can tell from the pics that you provided that anyone who had met your son is a better person after.
  7. Happen to have some Core-lokts......have to give em a try. Thanks for all the Information. Sounds like I need to set aside a few days for Bench work.
  8. As a rule you can hunt from all shores as long as your in a boat. There is a technicality saying the you are able to hunt below the high water mark. If your feet are in the water, you should be OK. I used hunt some of the fingerlakes. Iv had some run ins with homeowners telling me I can't park my boat (which I was sitting in ) in front of their cottage. They called the Police, but nothing was done because I wasn't on dry land, that they own. Not so much into hunting in front of cottages or other peoples property now, Too many people Blaring their Radios, Banging pots and pans, and even some Ahole who hit golf balls at our boat. If your hunting in NYS then you should be OK, just a little sketchy......Good luck man.
  9. Champ....Thanks for the PM....returned....
  10. Thanks guys.....whole different ball game than cracking them with a 12 gauge slug. Sent from my VS920 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. I just purchased a Savage .308 and I'm in the process of getting it sighted in. I understand the whole different rounds have different accuracy. My question is what type of round allows for maximum expansion? I'm leaning towards the Federal Match Gold Medal boat-tail Hollow point in 168 grains. Thanks for any information......Matt
  12. Excellent advice from Capt. Paul. I probably go through at least a case of ammo every season. Ive shot just about every brand of ammo on the market (including the Hypersonic rounds you speak of). They really recoil like a mule, bu they patterend like garbage. The best patterning rounds out of my 870 were the Kent 3 1/2 #3 steel ...Improved... For popcorn ducks I usually just stick with 3" . When diver hunting I might change the choke to Mod, but the patterning seems to hold real nice. My person opinion is save your money, find a good steel load that works and shoot birds that are closer. I shoot 3 1/2 in mags rounds quite a bit in January, but I still matain the self dicipline to keep my shots 30 yards and closer for quick kills.
  13. Long Tail is the new politically correct name for an Oldsquaw.....Sea duck . M8Ball is correct, the Bills and red Heads are pretty good. Cans are the best of all divers....I may do a few offshore hunts this year for sea ducks.... They are really fun to hunt, but unless you make em into sausage, they are pretty inedible. Good luck with the Divers....
  14. Eye Spy.....I hope your not a deer hunter. I was a die hard deer hunter..then a buddy of mine took me on a Bufflehead shoot and the rest is history. I barely get out bow hunting now. I spend way more money than I should on decoys, dogs, boats, and steel shot. The last few years Ive done some unbelieveable hunts across the United States. It is a total sickness. I puposley shoot the first two deer I see opening day of gun season, just so I can fill the freezer and get back to duck hunting. Good luck with the rest of your season and shoot em in the lips!
  15. Nice Buck Mark.....There are some decent ones running that area. Congrats man.

  22. OH NO!!!!!!! Chad, you have created a monster!!!! Congrats on the Essox Maximus
  23. Lightfields? I use them and they are devestating......
  24. Best thing Ive ever done was upgrading to the Big Jon Electrics. No problems with them what so ever.
  25. Thats exactly correct......Get on youtube...there is some awesome underwater footage of Kings chasing baits. They appear, swipe at a bait up to a half dozen times before they hook up or loose interest. We just went with the Furuno 587 and Ive seen more streakers ( with this unit) than ever. Kinda gets you frustrated seeing fish swim up to your rigs and not chew. Thats why its called fishing...With all this improved technology, the bottom line is you can't make the fish chew....Tight lines
