  5. Earlier this spring I posted about my dealings with p-line. I had numerous break offs in 2 trips....p-line is really really bad fluoro. For many years I used 30# ande and 14 lb seaguar. I can't really recall having any break offs. Like an idiot I tried the P-line and paid the price. Now I'm back to seaguar and I won't change again. Good luck and tight lines.... 6. I'm with steel fire on the big game.....30# is plenty....when running flasher flies or spin docs, no need for a leader....15lb flouro leaders spliced in for my spoons.....Braid is terrible with the fleas....
  7. try experimenting with lead lengths from the ball....speed is a definite factor. Longer the leads, slower the bait runs. Also the type of spoon makes a difference. A spoon like an Nk or a DW will run great at higher speeds....Stingers , suttons, or lighter spoons can have great action at slower speeds. Much like fly fishing, I try to match the hatch....in the spring the bait (gobies, alewife..ect) tends to be a little smaller so I run relative size spoons. In the summer and fall the bait tends to be bigger.....so out come the magnums. This is just what works for me. I'm sure there are lots of guys with different theories and techniques. Take as much advice as you can and develop a program that works for you....tight lines
  8. Kevin....Bob is in the process of a new and improved site....from what I seeing on facebook, he is just about done with it, and it will be online any day now.

  11. The fishing out of Rochester is about as consistent as it gets. Ran offshore until we found some cold water. The magic number was 46 degrees today. With the cold water came a super thick fog bank. Our program consisted of spoons with yellow dive bombs off the boards, high Chinook divers, and riggers from 23 to 31 ft with cheaters on them. Boated 12 steelhead and 10 Lakers by 10:00 ( One skipper King). Stand out lures today were frog colored glow cups, green and white DWSS, Finger Lakes Tackle SSW and modified NBK. Notice anything about the lures? Green Green Green. I had all kinds of red out, but they never took a shot. Funny because Reds and Pinks are usually a given for big ole Buckeyes.....On our way out there was a ton of suspended bait in 80 ft....Good luck and tight lines!

  13. Double uni for me......30 # Ande or Big Game ( in prime flea season). If I run a spoon off of it, then I run a generous 12-15 ft of #15 lb Seguar fluorocarbon.... Ive never had any issues with the knots get hung up or catching fish for that matter.... I went to that Dan Keating seminar....I asked him about his #12 rigs and what he did when the fleas were bad....His answer " I just go offshore further where the fleas aren't bad." Really Dan? I told him that in prime flea season, #12 would look like a dock line if he tried running that stuff..... He did have good info on rigging though. Lake Michigan and Lake Ontario Salmon fishing has a lot in common....While they are similar, people need to remember that they are very different....
  14. Nope.....Ive never had the arm fray the mono.....Ive been using them for probably 10 years....The mono set ups really shine in the early spring and in the fall combat trolling.....FYI I take the lite bite arms off as well.......Run just the slide diver and have not had any issues.....
  15. I don't run the spring or the tube that they include....mine slides down 20 # nicely...I commonly run them back 85 ft from the diver.
  16. Empty......I just got one of those too.....Those flys are going to be yelling " Don't taze me bro"....LOL
  17. Great story and Outstanding Brown.......
  18. Last year I went out at 2am and fished till 8 am.....trolled in tight for browns....cool thing was I put chem lights on my boards and I also had them on my releases....eerie watching them in the dark....overall nothing special happened....took a few browns and when the sun started peeking up, we went out deeper and took a king.... I've had much better luck right at dawn and dusk.....give it a try, its an experience for sure. Sent from my VS920 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  22. Greeted by some thunder and lightning while motoring out of the river. Made the left turn down Charlotte Pier in search of some BT's off the beach....It was like a scene from "American Loggers" out there....Parts of trees, firewood, and all kinds of junk floating and some very thick Fog!...Trolled through the mne field to Russell with just a few bites. Picked up and Ran to Braddocks and fished from the Bay to just east of the lighthouse....Vacant screen in 20-40 ft. Came back in to 10-13 feet and picked browns the rest of the day....Best spoons were all DW SS 's....Gobie, alewife patterns off the riggers, Smithwicks and Bay rats off the Boards. The water color was alot better west, but the fish were not there ( or were not chewing). Good luck to everyone this Holiday weekend........
