  1. Well......Ive been fishing 30 Lb for years and this is the first time Ive ever seen the fleas stick to it. 30 Big game to be specific. When I checked the lures yesterday there was about 3 inches on fleas on the line....a wad of em on the swivel, and even fleas stick to the lure and hooks. I chopped off my leaders and ran straight 30 but it didn't matter.
  2. Pete.....i had em on my spoons and hooks today....horrible........the worst ive seen since they have been in the lake
  3. I was out there today as well......WTH with the fleas? Worst ive seen ever! The inside bite was much better.....23north to the 26.5 was a ghost town. If you guys go out anytime soon, i would suggest checking your lines every 10 minutes.....the fleas were sticking to the hooks.....makes for a long day with this heat....tight lines....Capt.Matt
  4. Cool video man.......Good to see you guys out there....
  5. I put larger custom rudders on my 313 ....what a difference...... At the time I did upgrade to Hydraulic steering from teleflex. The rudders that were on the boat were tiny.....
  6. Invader.....
  7. Absolutely agree with On the lam Pete........15 or 20 lb for spoons....straight 30 for paddles and flies
  8. Yup.....That was mine.....Picking up on Friday
  9. Sweet.......That mount looks awesome in person. I stopped in to Gregg's to see my King Eider Mount and low and behold, that monster chicken was right above it. What a tank......Lots of good memories to go with that one brother.
  10. Two ways......google search albright knots......lots of videos showing how. Easy to do.....or you can use spro heavy duty inline swivels to connect the backing and leader to the copper.....i use a haywire twist with the copper to the swivel.......
  11. I agree....Captain Mick is the Man! I keep my rig right by his. Yankee was exactly right....Steel, Lakers and an occasional King in the upper part of the water column......I haven't been out in a few days, but I wouldn't sweat it ..... Have a great time and tell Capt. Mick I said Hello.......Matt
  12. Hmmmmm.........Still contemplating......I would hate to crack my props getting in and out of the channel. Hopefully the level stays up.
  13. It's unlikely it's a transducer problem; transducers tend to either work all the time, or they don't work at any time. Cut and pasted from your quote .........LMFAO.........
  14. The fishing off Rochester continues to live up to its reputation....Solid...... Yesterday we had a group that included some up an coming Lake Ontario trollers. These young men caught on very quickly, asked a lot of questions (which I was happy to answer) and really showed some enthusiasm. Its really nice to see kids get excited about our sport.... Well we ran out in search of a temperature break and ran into a nice scum line with a 4 degree break on the surface. Threw out the basic Steel head stuff ( red spoons on high riggers,Red spoons on weighted planer board rods) and some flasher fly king stuff which never took a hit. First fish of the day was a mid-upper teens king. The spring shark gave the young man an epic battle. Like a pro, he brought the fish in for the ice chest nap. As the day went on, they landed several big Lakers, and a few steelhead. It was pretty cool catching those pig Lakers so close to the surface. Most of the fish were released, however the ones who were gill hooked were kept. We ended the day something like 12 for 16. Not bad for a half day. I love the diversity that the waters off Rochester and Monroe county holds....Tight lines.....
  15. August 1979 out of Manistee Michigan.....using a 00 silver prism license plate and a squid.....Fun week with lost of fish....hands down the roughest storm Ive ever been caught out in. Numerous boats didn't make it back to shore and were washed up on the beach. Amazing sight to see Hawaii 5-o waves going over the piers........
  16. I guess I'm silly then......In my mind, spending the 3-4 hundred bucks on a survey is worth it. Especially if the boat ends up having transom or stringer issues.......Most decent surveys will uncover moisture problems, hull blisters, and some mechanical issues...... Depending on the boat, a stringer job or transom job could cost you more than the boat is worth.....the survey cost is nothing compared to the problems you could have........
  17. Survey Survey Survey......the money you spend on one can save you thousands in the end.....
  18. The fishing out of Rochester remains to be solid. We ventured out and found a decent king bite. Ran a surface program, some divers, and riggers. The divers and riggers took most of the hits. B Fuller Cyclops was the man. I did end up running a short copper and took our last king on an NK 28 green and silver.....Love the fact that the Kings are around ....Good luck and tight lines....
  19. Browns have been chewing the smolt size Bob Barker, Hot potato, and Wicked Tuna UV. He has a bunch of goby colored spoons ( FL Goby, Heganator ect...). They are newer and I still need to put them through the paces. Last season my go to-s for kings were the Green King of Sting and the Orange one.....Mags.... Now there is a thing about color of the cups....On sunny days, the kings were chewing the Green cup KOS. On overcast they were chewing silver cups. Albino Frog mag was good All this being said, Bob really came up with some excellent patterns..cyclops, Super Skank, .... The best thing about his spoons is they are durable as hell. Ive used other brands that catch fish without a doubt....but the paint chips off after a few hits. I would rather have to replace spoons because a big King cracked it off not because of a poor paint job.....Good luck and keep those hooks sharp.
  20. Finally got out on the big lake after a long winter. The weather last week was extremely brutal. Lots of rain, Big waves, and high winds. The Genny was flowing as swift as Ive ever seen and monster logs were flowing everywhere. The construction job in the middle of the river was fun to drive by as well. We ran from the Genny, and got away from the chocolate milk water. Found some decent color and dropped the rigs....First hit was on the slide diver pulling a Finger Lakes Tackle Bob Barker. Absolute crushing hit which resulted in a nice teens King. Now that's a start. We proceeded to work the inside waters . Picked up several browns and lakers. Grabbed another nice King off a top line (green Glow Thunderstick) ....bright colored sticks were good ( Smithwicks, Bombers, and Thundersticks). FLT spoons off the Slide divers were very good. I tried running shallow riggers, but they never took a hit. The weather was about as brutal as I've ever fished in.....Extreme high wind gusts and waves stacked up on each other... Despite the weather, we had a great first day to the 2013 season. Rochester , "the sleeper port" , never ceases to amaze me.Tight lines guys......
  21. Sorry for your loss man.......Good duck hunting partners are hard to find. Im lucky in repects to that. There is somthing to be said about sharing a sunrise on a marsh, or even a blistering cold january morning with Divers locked up in your blocks. Only a select few can relate......Condolances to you and the Clodbridge family....
