  1. Stop already its not like there were 15 or 20 dead fish hanging from the hooks. Sometimes you just have to keep a couple for the smoker or because they were bleeding to badly to survive. Where do you get the posters? I keep my share but practice CPR about 80% of the time.
  2. Where is wrinkle city? I'm hoping that the salmon are working their way east so we can have some fun besides browns. Hoping your going to say its across from Oswego NY.
  3. Leave the rules the way they are for this year. Seems there has been an increase in teams so maybe these changes were needed. I will be fishing the Oswego one and possibly the Sodus. Getting time from work is tough for me and my team not to mention gas prices. I wouldn't mind seeing the limit increased to 9, open communication as I like to talk to folks while out there. That way your wife can say hi when you by us, and I can yell at the non tourney fisherman that just cut my dipsey off. You still need observers but with the new 2 man 6 rod rule that should leave room for the observer on the smaller boats. Janz Team "More On"
  4. From the Niagara Bar area and will weigh 31 lbs and look like a lake trout.
  5. Or was it Brennens? Tough getting old but as long as I don't forget to bring the boat.
  6. Rich we will be out there also for the derby Sat to Sat. Hopefully staying in Youngstown again and probably see you for dinner at the Irish Pub (Kelly's I think) Team "More On"
  7. Abes of Maine probably has the best price on them http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=gmspc330
  8. You can get them going both ways just have to fine tune your troll. But one way is always better than the other.
  9. Love my Garmin street pilot C330. Programmed it so it talks to me in a female British accent. Last time going across the border the guards got a big laugh out of it. Comes already loaded with all of N. America. Fairly easy to use, around $300.
  10. I would be interested in the same. Thanks
  11. If you registered online the web site had not been updated at that time because of the added 3rd derby and along with it the fee increase. When I noticed that I just called and registered over the phone and got my card 2 weeks later. So if you did it online then I would call.
  12. Spoonfed will probably answer this question as he is on the committee for the tourney. He is making a list of the rules but they are very simple from what he has told me and I don't want to tell you something I may have misunderstood so I'll let him post the rules and fees. I'll email him and let him know your looking for the info.
  13. I had some trouble with my 104 LCX and the fish hawk. I sent the fish hawk back and they changed the frequency on which the transducer communicated with the unit and all the problems ended. I do have the transducers on opposite sides of the outdrive and both units wired directly to the battery. Although if I understand your description of the problem you say it only happens when the big motor is running but the problem clears up when only the small motor is running? If thats the case then resistor spark plugs and distributor wires may be needed to solve your problem. I would also check all motor to boat (if aluminum) ground wires along with grounds to outdrives along with your sacrificial anodes, this will really help with the boats negative ion output also. I know its a lot of work and time but it will be worth it to find the problem and you just might have your best year ever catching fish.
  14. I use the 13 lb pancakes on the outside riggers, you need to put a slit bend in the fin so it acts like a rudder and takes them away from the boat, the only time I had a tangle with them is when my buddy put them on in reverse. Down the middle I run the sharks.
  15. How come there is not an over 50 setups on the poll question??? Closing in quick on 100
  16. USAF 99th bomb wing "Death from above" 71 to 74
  17. 53 here and 54 coming up fast. Guess we are the majority on the board. JAN
  18. Is this what you need for that new boat??? JAN
  19. Yuck, the only thing worse than a brown is a steelhead. Smoke up the kings (no coho) with the right brine and wood chips and add a little maple syrup as they are half way done and you won't want to eat anything else.
  20. I always payed for the gas and tackle and stuff and let others fight the fish. I even pay for the food and drink. We split even with the boat getting a share after taxes if applicable. Now I was actually able to land a cash fish as it was 12 noon and everyone was snoozing and the rod went off with no one around, OK auto pilot and went back and grabbed the rod and landed a steelhead worth $550. so everyone plus the boat got a share and we all had a great time and remain good friends. Been doing it this way for 10 yrs. Don't forget if you can't show me a legit derby ticket you don't get on the boat during the derbies. "More On"
  21. I had tried that (spool adjustment) but will try it again, its the only thing that keeps me from buying 4 more of these.
  22. Thanks, that makes more sense and I can say I'm all for it. Although I will more than likely have a 3 person team as it makes boat handling and netting much easier.
  23. Does anyone have trouble with them slowly feeding out line while in the downrigger rod holder, especially with dodger and flies. Mine keep creeping out and drives me nuts hearing the clicker as I'm trolling. If I tighten the drag or spool adjustment when a big fish runs a lot of line I get close to breaking 30 lb ande or ripping the hooks out of the fish. I would get a couple more but this has me concerned and I bought 2 at a time at different times and they all still do it. The old Diawa 47LC's dont do it. I'm not crazy about the rubber band trick neither, for $150. + they shouldn't be doing that. Ya Glen I know you'll buy em off me, LOL.
  24. Having fished 1 or more pro ams (AM entry) each year for a few years now I don't see any problem with the open com rule. What I do have a problem with is (and I can't beleive anyone else hasen't brought it up yet), you can fish 2 people on the am side and are allowed 6 rods if the observer on your boat has a valid license????? HUH, so If my team consists of only 2 and I send a paid observer (with a license) to another team of 2 they may use 6 rods in the water. Now they send me an observer that does not have a license and that will limit me to only 4 lines/rods in the water. Now that seems to be pretty crazy or did I missread that new rule. As for open com its pretty exciting and humorous to listen to some of the communications, after all they don't have to be telling the truth. I don't think most teams will leave their area or change what they are using in that area as most have prefished and sorta figured it out. Each area fishes differently most of the time. Let them talk as they do it anyway before or after fishing time, like having your buddy who is not entered in the proam find fish the night before and call your cell and tell you they're in that spot last night and here's what they were hitting. I think it sort of evens up the advantage or makes no difference. Hopefully this year I will be able to get more time off from work (yes thats what pays the bills for me to live and support my boat and tackle) and fish more than the Oswego proam like I did last year. Just having your net flying is like having a huge flag saying "we got em over here" be prepared to be pushed out of your area you had to yourself. So what's the difference using a radio or cell phone.
