So after recording nearly every fish I caught last year (all five of them), I found out if I set the hook my drop ratio on riggers went up dramatically. Now I just reel down and try hard not to give a little tug...
This year's ProAm was a much needed step in the right direction. With a bit more time for advertisement to make people aware of it next year, I think we'll see it get back to the major event it used to be!
Rod, are we able to invest some of the prize money into a weather machine for next year?
Nick
We still have three spots left for next Saturday! Let your friends know and let's see if we can get the roster filled! There are going to be some spectacular door prizes for each team that enters!!!

Lucas,
Yeah the BFF supports the Sodus Bay Salmon Slam the following day. Half the money goes to the winner, while the other half will go to support the tournament for wounded and disabled Veterans and servicemen.

Crum, you guys are diehards! I can't even imagine being out there in an 18fter!!!
Great job today, you'll have to let me know what you did to turn them on... We found some big fish and threw every lure we had at them but couldn't get a single one to bite... I'm pretty sure if any tried we gave them whiplash as our lures were probably zippin down there!!!
I apologize to everyone... I messed with voodoo I didn't understand and I must have turned Saturday's 3-5s into 6-8s and todays 2-4s into 6-10s!
The curse is strong in this port! Anyone want in on some "I survived the Sodus ProAm" tshirts? I'm thinking of putting 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 all crossed out below it with a picture of the boat from "The Perfect Storm" driving up that monster wave.
Congrats to anyone who braved the weather and lived to tell about it! The coastguard said they had 12 calls Saturday one of which had the C130 out searching as most of us saw. Today I heard at least two boats report mayday... it was NASTY out there.
Look forward to doing it again next year, but I'm taking Stoutner's boat!
Nick
This year we will be doing first and second largest salmon, largest steelhead and largest brown.
We then give raffle tickets based on each team's largest fish weight and raffle off other prizes. So even if you don't catch a fish, you have a chance at a prize.
Plus there will be the usual goodie bags
The curse is upon us, strong storms have knocked out the power and the ac, it is hotter than a mofo... brace yourself, the proam curse is upon us!!!
Good luck tomorrow everyone, be safe and tight lines to all!!!
Nick
There's a big difference between having fun, being comfortable, and sinking.
Less than 2-3 is fun, less than 4 is comfortable. We've been out in 8-10s and havent sunk, but it was not fun.
Just remember I'm hopping on your boat if it's too rough!
Ive been chanting all day... got it down to 3-5... Now I need to find a goat and a alter and see if I can get this baby down to <1ft!!
