  1. Spring time can mean only one thing... our trip to Wilson,NY to kickoff the 2013 salmon season! We look forward to this trip every year, not just for the fishing, but for everything the Niagara region has to offer. We drove from our home in Douglassville, PA to my parent's home in Poughkeepsie,NY to pick up RUFF RIDER tonight. Tomorrow morning we continue our trek on to Wilson,NY. It's going to be a long drive, but it's always worth it! We'll be staying at the Wilson Boatyard Marina, be sure to say hi if you're there as well! We hope to have live reports going each day as well as share some of our non fishing activities. If anyone has recommendations for their favorite rainy day / blow off day activities in NY or Canada, let us know! Tonight we sleep, tomorrow we drive, Saturday we fish! Nick
  2. I'll be up Friday for a week! Sent from my DROIDX using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Hmm that will help for Sodus vacations for sure!
  4. Does anyone know where I could get some dry ice in the Wilson,NY area? Nick
  5. Sorry guys I'd love to help, but I'll be pretty tied up prepping the Salmon Slam tournament on Aug 3rd. If things don't get worked out we can still fit a few more boats in our tourney, but it may not scratch that competitive itch many of you have...
  6. well that's not good to hear, we head there next week, hopefully it picks up by then! Nick
  7. Definite yuck, but good to hear your business is going strong! Feel free to hop on our boat on rainy days
  8. Persevere and it will pay off, life has a tendency to even out the bad with good if you push through!
  9. Another one for Theresa. Had herring chunks out all morning without a touch, all bloodworms.
  10. Sometimes you just need to suck it up and admit your wife is a better fisherwoman than you! At least I can say I tought her everything she knows!
  11. Sk8 I've done that from shore and it works. Jigging in general I dont find relaxing though... nothing more relaxing than drifting with bait out and your bail open, just waiting for it to start screaming! I'd love to try drifting bait for kings this year!
  12. All good points spike! We might try trolling for a bit if it's not too crowded tomorrow.
  13. Fishing died when the outgoing tide started ripping, going to give it a few more minutes, then head in... Hopefully tomorrow will bring that 30lber!
  14. Trench, yeah we like that flat just north of the bridge at high tide too. Only problem on outgoing tide is you either need to anchor or constantly move back up river to avoid hitting the bridge.
  15. Bloodworms down 15-20ft over 35fow seems to be working well. Nightcrawlers will work if the river isn't too muddy. Lots more schoolies, but Theresa finally hit a nicer one!
  16. Moved into 35fow and fish have been steady, no size though... Probably had 9 bites in the last 30mins, now we just need some cows!
  17. Looks like we'll get another beautiful weekend on the mighty hudson river! Going to start a bit deeper today in 40+fow. Slack tide right now (high). Good luck to those fishing Lady O this weekend! Nick
  18. ryonybony welcome to Sodus! Won't be long now until the kings start screaming! Nick
  19. Yes a lot of people troll using giant rapalas, fake eels, and even some spoons. Ive tried it, there's a lot of junk in the river thoufh and I found myself constantly needing to clear weeds, sticks, garbage, bodies, etc... Also, you need to keep a sharp eye on depth as the river is very shallow in areas. For me, I find drifting a nice change...
