  1. A bigger one, 15ft over 35fow... Theresa made me throw him back, there goes dinner...
  2. Dead bite so far, none of the 50+ boats around us seem to have hooked up either.
  3. Not positive as we don't use them, but along the lines of no herring caught from creeks or transported. The bait shop had zero frozen or fresh.
  4. Drifting... anchoring is good way to get run over in Newburgh as most people drift and don't pay much attention!
  5. Always be on the lookout for barges, sometimes they just come by to say hi...
  6. If you've never fished the hudson during the annual striper run, you should give it a try! The fish finder can be downright cruel though as hundreds of not hungry fish pass under the boat... but when they turn on... oh baby! Best weeks are normally the last two in May, so you still have time to plan a trip!
  7. Goodbye winter! First trip of the year, Hudson River striped bass. Launched out of Newburgh NY, boat started right up and seems to be running well. Blood worms were hard to find, limit of a dozen per person at Vinnys. The new herring laws are putting a squeeze on the other baits. Nick
  8. Oh man that's not good to hear... I'm just hoping I'll have enough water under my boat at the dock this year Nick
  9. Excellent Mike! This year is already shaping up to be better than last year! Ray great to hear you'll be joining us again this year!
  10. I could take 2 in the Sodus Point or Wilson area (I'll be in wilson May 17-25). Nick
  11. The insurance works great, ever since I got it I've never broken down haha. Pretty sure the sheriff has better things to do than tow people in, but big props to them if they tow people in in their free time. I know I broke down on the Hudson the first time I took my brand new boat out and neither the coast guard or the sheriff would tow me the 500yrds to the launch (luckily the DEC did). For me, the small cost is worth it in the trailer insurance alone (which is only like $20 if you have the towing insurance). Nick
  12. Hey Wayne! I hope you found a nice big green dolphin sticker for that new boat! Thanks for joining us again this year! Nick
  13. Hey Joe! Yeah let me know what Hide-A-Way wants to do this year and we can plan the rest of the barbecue accordingly. I think shirts again this year would be great! If there's anyone with more artistic ability than me (which shouldn't be hard!) let me know if there's a different/better design. Nick
  14. Excellent Mike, sent you an email about the weigh in board and donation form you asked for.
  15. Sounds good Jim, I'll give you a shout once we're back in Sodus in June. Nick
  16. Sounds good Jim! I'll give you a ring when we're back in sodus in June. Nick
  17. Current registrants: With the start of the 2013 fishing season, I want to kick off the 2013 Sodus Bay Healing Waters Salmon Slam planning! Last year's innaugural event was a huge success and I hope this year will be even better. For those who weren't involved last year or are not familiar with the event, this tournament is utilized as a way to help wounded and disabled veterans and active duty military tby bringing them out on the water and sharing our passion for fishing with them. Here is a quick video from the event last year: The event is coordinated with Project Healing Waters which is a non-profit organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and veterans through fishing education and outings. The tournament rules will be the same as last year, except ties will be drawn from a hat. (Yes we actually had a tie last year). I'll post them shortly. There is no fee to enter the tournament other than bringing one or more of our veterans/servicemen out on your team. There will be three divisions, salmon, steelhead, and brown trout. The single largest veteran/serviceman caught fish wins each divsion and there will be separate prizes for veterans and captains. The tournament is held out of Arneys Marina in Sodus Point, NY. You do not need to be docked there, but you will need to pick up your veterans/servicemen there. If you'd like to dock there for the day/weekend call in advance, as slips run out quickly! There will be a free barbecue after the tournament as well! I'd like to start with opening up registration to 20 boats and may extend it to 30 boats if there is as much interest as there was last year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email, IM, or phone. Those looking to donate items for the event or volunteer your time to make this event more amazing that last year, please contact me! Nick
  18. For everyone that was involved in this event last year and for those that are curious about it, I'll be starting a new thread for this year's 2nd Annual Sodus Bay Healing Waters Salmon Slam. I've posted a quick video of the event on youtube: Nick Ok someone help me out here, how do I embed the youtube video in this new LOU site format?
