  1. Do you still have the barrel? If so, don't open it... if you already did... you may be infected... (sorry no clue what it is, but I'd contact the coast guard, may be part of their drills they do)
  2. No, but I think I left Ray's dog somewhere while putting it in... have you seen him anywhere? Here's a copy of the reward posters I've been putting up...
  3. I believe Joe's wife will be collecting the money for the shirts at the event... we may even be able to have them at the "check in" table if Joe can get them to me the night before or come a bit early the day of.
  4. Gary at BigWeenie got back to me, it's a Lap Dance XXXtreme glow! Excellent customer service over there!
  5. Anyone out of Sodus today, let me know if that's a whirlpool I'm seeing
  6. Those of us on Ch9 usually do that. We have an ongoing joke of when someone says they hook up on Ch9 to say "How deep, what color, how far back, FOW, what color underwear?" Because pretty much all of that data is expected to also be shared Anyone know where we could get a dunk tank from? Maybe $20 per ball for me, Rod, and Tim and a $100 ball for Ray PS. I already hid a gps tracker on Tim and Rod's boats and will be streaming the info through my phone... (yes I'm joking... or am I? ) Nick
  7. Guys love the constructive criticism! For those of us starting up our own tourneys it gives us ideas of how to better things! A few of my thoughts from the propen: Big things The prizes for each division should be available the day before... I still have no idea if I might have won a new car or a new spoon. Results should be posted by the end of the weekend... If they need help I can show them many easy ways to post results from a smart phone... it literally takes 15 seconds. The old am division and now open division were always treated like a halftime show. It should be given the same amount of detail and attention as the pro division, just with lower payouts. The LCD screen vs tossed together whiteboard was a bit of a slap in the face to open guys. Definitely could have put the open division on the right side of the lcd. Recommendation: love the open format, just call it the amateur division (which it basically is) and keep it to ams only, but keep the rules the same.. 3 big fish and no observer are very important to many of us "intermediate" fishermen. Small things Make all boats enter and leave from the proam port. Simple reason is these tournaments are helped to be put on by many local companies and tourism boards, so why not keep the tourism dollars in those ports? Move the open division weigh in closer to the pros. I sat there for what felt like forever waiting for the pro weigh in. Also have each team pose with their three biggest fish for pictures... Those are my thoughts, keep em comin, there is always room to improve these great tournaments! Nick [ Post made via Android ]
  8. Welcome to the addiction! Were you using mono or wire line on your dipseys? If mono, your first task willPppp be to replace it with 7 strand stainless wire. It will get your lure deeper. In general the bite was slow this past weekend. Also, until you get a probe, try keeping your gps speed around 2.8mph. In general darker lures in low light, bright lures in high light. 9. Dan and Ramona at Clinger's bait and tackle donated a nice prize pack, thanks guys! [ Post made via Android ]
  10. I only wish I could have been there to watch the racoon episode! "Here kitty kitty kitty" comes to mind Great job to you and the kids! They were very respectful to the other fisherman that didn't do so well... they didn't laugh at me even once! (I didn't give them a second chance on Sunday though). The hard part now is going to be the amount of pressure you're going to have on your shoulders for the next event... you know they aren't going to accept anything but first place! Nick
  11. Part of the paperwork I hand out at the Captains meeting will have the channel that people should monitor in case of tournament announcements as well as for people to discuss what they're catching on... it will be Channel 9. I think most of us will be pretty open and honest. Checking my reports from the previous years, the first couple of weeks in August tend to be red hot out of Sodus, so I don't think we're going to have too many problems finding some fish, especially with how great fishing has been this year! I'll be out this weekend "testing" the waters A lot can change in a week though, might be a good excuse to go out for a few hours Friday morning before the event Nick
  12. Hey Rod do you know the name of this fly? Seriously hot the past few weekends! [ Post made via Android ]
  13. Project Healing Waters is still finalizing the list of veterans, but assume 1-2 veterans. There will also be a couple of Project Healing Waters coordinators going out... I'll pop them on whichever boat has an empty slot. Nick
  14. Troy, captains meeting is at 6am at Arneys, vets arrive at 6:30 and get on board with captains, 7am we leave the docks. Since you're not docking at Arneys simply find someplace along the gas dock (bayside or creek side) or an empty slip to tie up to. In the afternoon, probably just drop your veterans off with the cooler, go park your boat and then drive back to arneys. Nick
  15. 1 Small for Theresa, 1 x-large for me, and I want to buy 2 for the vets I'll have aboard... I'm going to guess XL.
  16. Joe you can put me down for 4. Nick
  17. Lots of people have contacted me asking if we need any food or anything... feel free to bring a 12 pack of your favorite soda to dump into the ice, or your favorite bag of chips! Nick [ Post made via Android ]
  18. Carl how deep is the 28N line out there? [ Post made via Android ]
  19. hmmm you sure you don't want to give that seminar at the event? (hint hint) [ Post made via Android ]
  20. If you're in Sodus Arneys has ethanol free gas now. [ Post made via Android ]
  21. Absolutely Ray! Part of the captains meeting will be to promote open communication. We have quite a few boats at Arneys that talk openly on Ch9 and the charters are pretty open on Ch8. Also people shouldnt feel bad if they go out and dont manage to catch a big fish, the biggest part of the "healing" process is getting the vets out on the water making new friends and having fun. We all have bad days of catching, but seldom a bad day of fishing [ Post made via Android ]
  22. I just got off the phone with Project Healing Waters and it sounds like we will meet our goal of nearly 30 veterans.... simply awesome guys! Also, heard of some additional donated prizes that are coming in thanks to Finders Keepers! Lots of thanks to everyone else who is helping out with setting the event up, it's really great to see everyone coming together to give back... I was also hoping to get a count of how many people are trailering their boats and launching at Arneys or the state launch on the day of the event? I think most people called and rented a slip for the night/day, but curious as to how many people are planning to trailer there. If you could either post here or send me a PM/email I'd appreciate it. I'd like to talk to Arneys about where to park your trailer... Nick
  23. Looks like the wind is going to blow hard from the South for a couple of days, then from the west for a couple of days... so much for the lake getting time to settle!
