Time for the Sodus Pro Am, time to buckle up and hang on and catch some fish! With the unfortunate changes to the ProAm we won't be fishing the main category, but I will be fishing the Open on Saturday on my friend Andy's boat. Tonight and tomorrow my coworker and has his three kids will be coming out. They got stuck on I81 on the way up due to an accident that shut it down, but we're still hoping to get out for a couple of hours. The weather looks like it has the potential to be a bit nasty over the next couple of days but we'll see.... Tonight Northeast winds 10 knots. Waves 2 feet or less. Thursday Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Waves 1 to 3 feet building to 2 to 4 feet. Thursday Night Northeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Waves 1 to 3 feet. Friday Northeast winds 10 knots or less. Waves 2 feet or less. Friday Night Northeast winds 10 knots or less. Waves 2 feet or less. Saturday Southeast winds less than 10 knots. Waves 2 feet or less. Sunday Southwest winds 10 to 15 knots. Waves 1 to 3 feet. Lake looks pretty nice tonight on the webcams, these guys have been on boats before, but never anything rougher than 1 footers probably, so hopefully I can get them out tonight and work out the nerves and butterflies! Theresa stayed home this weekend, due to lack of vacation time and the usual curse of the Sodus ProAm ... just about every year it has been extremely rough water (last year was definitely an exception from the norm). See everyone out there, please be safe and stay off my fish I doubt our team will take things very seriously, so I'll probably be posting as usual throughout, but I'll leave that decision to them in case they want to be competetive Nick

Nick, I have a Sub-Troll and I usually run between 2 and 2.5 on it but I always verify by looking at the down rigger wires and the diver rods. I know for sure I troll about 1 mph faster thatn Lake Trout Buffy Ray Looking forward to next weekend. You doing Big Fish Friday also? No probably not, but I'll ask the team and see what they want to do. I'm fishing on someone else's boat, so it's really up to him. Nick

2012 Sodus Bay Healing Waters Salmon Slam - August 4th

According to freedictionary.com the spelling is with an "e" when talking about the lure, and without the "e" when talking about someone who isn't all that smart... so we were all giving you a compliment My parents use a food saver and the fish lasts forever it seems. I use zip loc bags and they tend to get freezer burn after a few months. The board looks great Mike! Nick -
We did a coho this weekend, didnt realize it until after I posted my report for that day and got back to clean it. Haven't seen an atlantic yet though. [ Post made via Android ]

2012 Sodus Bay Healing Waters Salmon Slam - August 4th
TOP SECRET replied to TOP SECRET's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Ok, tournament has been increased to 20 boats! That's it though, entries are done! So welcome aboard Lucky Enuff, Reelintense, Reel Outlaw, Camomanbg, and Tackle Buster! Screwy Louies made a donation to the tournament today, big thanks to them! I believe we've finalized the tournament format ... Largest Salmon - Prizes for Captain and Vet Largest Steelhead - Prizes for Captain and Vet Largest Brown - Prizes for Captain and Vet Largest fish on Salmon Slam spoon - prizes for Captain And something new to try (Sorry Rod borrowed your idea)... Each team will get a number of raffle tickets, the amount of raffle tickets will be based on your largest king; the larger the king, the more tickets you will receive. These tickets will go towards prizes that will be raffled off. That way everyone gets a chance to win some of the secondary prizes, but those who caught the largest fish will have better odds. Any prizes that can't be given out, say if no steelhead are caught, will go into the raffle. The prizes are still TBR as we still have donations rolling in, so stay tuned! Nick -
Yup, that's why we are doing the Open division this year. Between a very large entry fee and not wanting to compete with Pro boats that I know are much better fisherman than me... it was a no go for us. Although, I heard yesterday that if the day is a no-go due to weather, they hold a raffle to see who wins the $? That's CRAZY... just give people their money back, even if reduced due to "administration fees". Nick
