  1. Good job Billy!!! Looks like you managed to find a program that worked! We struggled all weekend, going 3 for 3 most days with only a couple of bigger fish. It was TOUGH out there. Now this east wind is pounding us, we're hoping to get out a few times this week as we're here in Wilson until Saturday. Nick
  2. Is that the one Jamie (Abe's Tackle) puts on? If so it happened last year, but not sure of the date this year. Nick
  3. Rod I can only hope that we are able to catch a few fish bigger than a sunny Shoot, I just hope the new boat runs well! We'll be there late Friday afternoon, so we'll see you then. Nick
  4. Great thanks! I called and left him a message. Nick
  5. Does anyone have Kevin's cell # at the Wilson Marina? I'm trying to call to confirm our stay starting Friday, but no one answers the marina phone and the answering machine is full... Nick
  6. I fished outside white's most of Saturday morning and never saw anyone net a fish! We went all the way up to the poughkeepsie bridge at one point before we had a real good screen. I heard people on the radio saying they caught fish blah blah blah, but they're probably on shore working with a marine radio at their desk just saying that to make us think there are fish in that damn river. Nick
  7. They don't need to understand, they just need to be able to deal with it Nick
  8. striper fishing was tough this year. We were out friday and saturday morning (newburgh) with nothing to show for it. The most frustrating part is your fishfinder shows tons of fish and you see a few splash the surface, but can't get them to bite. The amount of boats and lack of courtesy at the boat ramps was unreal. I'm personally glad it's over and ready for LO. Here's our only fish we caught this year... and by "we" I mean my wife... but since I drove to the spot and put the worm on the hook, I count it as "we" Nick
  9. We're going to need written confirmation that that pretty girl is with you Nick
  10. We finally got the boat fully rigged up and ready for salmon season! And we managed our first fish on it... well the wife did (yeah yeah I know ) Nick
  11. Yikes, did they at least tow you to a repair station?
  12. Just to follow up, I called BoatUS today and they said that if I broke down off Sodus Point, they'd contact a different towing agency if their boats weren't in range and then reimburse up to $2500 per incident. Same went for out at Wilson or on the Hudson (as long as above the tappan zee). I figured for $50 I'd give it a try. I picked up the trailer insurance for an extra $10 also. Heard back today that the upper unit on my outdrive will need to be replaced and is covered under warranty, so hopefully I won't need it, but anyone that knows me know how good my luck is Nick
  13. Well, my "opinion" on the coast guard thing is they should tow you in, but if they hear a distress call leave you where you sit and go help. I should have just told them I was in danger as I was truly having major depression, which is a sickness you know Boat US is out of Rochester which is further than 20 miles, but I wonder if they would still hep, just charge more? Nick
  14. Afer launching the new boat today, having engine problems and being towed in by the DEC (no thanks to the coast guard who came over, laughed at me, and said call sea tow)... I need to know experiences with Sea Tow vs. Boat US. This would be primarily out of Sodus Point. Today I was on the Hudson River, where Sea Tow is located at the area I launch from, but searching their site there is no home base by Sodus. Boat US has a home base in Rochester but I'm not sure I understand how their 25 mile distance thing works... any input would be appreciated. Nick
  15. haha amen to being broke! I've been so busy working on the boat trying to get it ready for launch (tomorrow), I haven't gotten any pictures! Hopefully, I can get some this weekend and with any luck we'll be holding some big hudson river stripers! The fuse block is a good idea. Unfortunately, the new boat has one for the dash area, but it's located under the steps into the cabin and it is a PAIN to run wires to. I was temped to install a new fuse block up under the dash, but just got lazy Nick
  16. Dear Mr. Scotty, I just purcheased two of your electric downriggers for over $800, why couldn't you include the $3 inline fuse for me? Dear Mr. Troll Master, I just purchased your equipment for $300, why couldn't you include the $3 inline fuse for me? Dear Mr. Depth Raider, I just purchased your equipment for $300, THANK YOU for including the $3 inline fuse for me!!!! RANT OVER.
  17. Carl good to see you on the fish!!! Are you going to be out at Wilson at all this year? Nick
  18. The first boat I bought was a 26' Cruisers, "True Grit". I bought it naively beliving the guy that it worked. I didn't change the name. First time out on Lake Ontario we got stranded in 150fow. We then sold it to a couple from Virginia who totaled it on the way home... all within 3 months. I personally would change the name and never look back Nick
  19. May 22nd - 30th for us! I usually go first week of May also, but I want to get the new boat out local first to work out any kinks... Nick
  20. Woody, how did you manage to roll the back window down to say hi? I'm surprised the sherrif let you while he was taking you in?
  21. echo, ok yeah Brandon called this weekend and he's putting in soon also. I won't be up until the end of May, but looks like I'll be docked on the creek by the cleaning station. cb, I can't complain, my wife actually somewhat likes to fish and is paying for half the boat Nick
  22. echoone, The transducer is actually mounted in the hull in the center of the boat, so no worries on which side to mount the kicker. I'll probably mount the kicker on the port side though to offset my weight Nick
  23. We ended up buying two scotties with the 30" booms for the corners. I'm thinking I'll put one of my manual cannons down the middle to run my probe off of. I ended up with Bert's tracks and Berts ratcheting rod holders for the sides. Now I'm trying to figure out how the heck to mount the kicker off the swim platform... remote troll makes a nice outfit for it that comes with a motor on the bracket that lets you use a remote to steer the "bracket"... but it's a bit spendy. http://www.remotetroll.com/products/rt-85.php Nick
  24. Hey guys, thought I'd give you an update that we just got back from Michigan and something new followed us home... We're pretty excited, now hopefully it will catch fish! We found out at our sea trial that it will at least get us across the lake a bit faster... we hit almost 50mph without pushing it too hard... it was actually a bit scary as we were on a very small lake and I'm just not used to going that fast in a boat... could only hit about 25mph on the trophy. The riggers and rod holders should be here next week and then I get to cut and drill into the brand new boat... not sure I'm too excited about that Nick
  25. Rod, What happened with this situation... did you get everything resolved? Nick
