  1. Scott, It did actually work for the first few months. I still have not gotten a chance to call Trevor at FishHawk to send it in for service, not sure where the time goes? In no way am I saying anything bad about the X4. It could even be the replacement probe, as I lost one and had to purchase a new one at woody's. I think it's the ducer myself, I know we tried another head unit and I am pretty certain we tried another probe. Then I just switched over to my back up unit and kinda forgot about it. FishHawk will make it right, and when it's working as it should I would choose it over my sub troll hands down.
  2. That was the easy part of the job...honestly. Pm me with any questions....always happy to help.
  3. Very sorry to hear of your loss Jerry.
  4. Happy birthday old fishin buddy....hope ya had a good one
  5. Happy birthday Pete
  6. I wish Pete ...his FishHawk does work extremely well
  7. I have fished on this Boat lots of times from one end of lake O to the other...even taking it across the lake last season to Whitby Canada. It was flawless every time Super clean and well maintained...just an awesome rig !
  8. I got in touch with FishHawk yesterday and let them know the site was gone. They got it taken care of and are back on line....all is good. Now to get our X 4 to actually work would be nice...I love the FishHawk x 4, don't know why the one on my boat has been problematic?
  9. I just noticed Fishhawk's website is gone. I called but got voice mail so I left a message. Anyone know what's up? I wanted to send my X-4 in for service, as it has never worked correctly. I will let you know if I hear back from them. Thanks!
  10. Thanks guys ! Can't wait to get working on it again and finish it up. Thanks for all the encouragement ...I was a little afraid to cut it off, but now I am so glad I did! It was 40 hours well spent.
  11. Just thought I'd update my progress.... Finally....I scrounged a few days to work on the roof and I got pretty far. Still a few long days of work yet till the top is done ,but at least it looks like a boat again. After lots of thought, I decided it would make the job too difficult to do in any medium except wood and fiberglass. Using aluminum would not have allowd me to raise it enough to make it worthwhile...at least not with my skill level. so in the end, I raised it 6.5" and now I have 6'3" of headspace in the back and 6'5"up by the helm The very top is still unfinished, so that is next, but all in all I like the way it turned out. Hats off to those of you who have fiberglassed and built entire boats.....fiberglass work sure isn't fun, but in the end I know I'll be glad I did it.
  12. Thanks for the birthday wish Hope things are good with you all. I've been hanging in there playing the Mr Mom role while Jen is working in San Francisco the rest of the year You're right Ray...we'll make up for it in 2012 I bet. I will be down in the keys the last week of December and the first week of January. Not sure where we are staying yet, but I will let you know and we'll get together.
  13. Nice story Ray Looking back, I'm glad I didn't throw you overboard several years back when ya got all flustered about my anchor lacking a chain...Ahhh, good times.
  14. Been told it works, and I've had sabiki rigs on the boat the past couple year but have yet to try them. Problem I seem to have is I'm always trolling, and ya pretty much have to stop the boat to drop your sabiki rig when you mark bait. Hopefully I will commit to it next spring and see if the sabiki's do in fact work.
  15. Best of luck selling the rig Bob...life is all about change bud. Stan....that house boat is really cool....I love it!
  16. I'm very sorry to here about your loss Ray.
  17. Yes and no....I haven't thrown out the original gauges yet but it didn't have synchro gauges...sorry.
  18. Great Pics of what musta been an awesome trip
  19. Update...I finally plunged in and removed the top. There's no turning back now, seeing the top is in about 10 pieces Saving the top was not an option, as it was glued down...not to mention it was about 300 plus pounds all intact. Nor did I want to be troubled to find that one person in the country that wants it. The trash man comes on Thursday and I can be done with it I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I am already glad I did it. Here are a few pics of the process. Next....I will be removing all the glass (half way there already) and adding a few inches to the top of the window frame. Lots of fab work to do to the top in the shop before putting it back on sometime next week.
  20. Love the Rays....great rig
  21. All the thanks goes to you BW. You keep upping the bar and help us anglers put more fish in the boat. Thanks for all your hard work !
  22. Ditto to what Rocket said. Also, remember that in the fall your percentage will often times go way down because a chinook's mouth becomes very hard and bony. Setting the hook as you mention is a common practice among some on rigger rods in the fall when the kings are staging...it's done to drive the hook into that hard mouth. On copper and dispey's you would not want to do practice any type of hook set because there is no stretch with wire...just rigger rods, and that is because of the line stretch associated with mono. I have fished with some very seasoned veterans who swear by setting the hook on stagers....so i guess you just need to do what works for you.
  23. Sure Bob...throw gas on the fire till things get good and hot....then lock the thread... I am sure Green crinke would give it a run for it's money, but for the most part I would not argue with that Pete. That color pattern is consistant so it gets run more than any other fly. Big Weenie makes a similar fly called the Blue Weenie and I always have one in the water when I fish the east end. It's definitly one of my favorite flies I totally agree though, there is no reason for segregation. I am friends with both Gary and Tom and both guys have worked very hard to build their business.....same with Siggs, but probably to a lesser degree. Support them all....Compitition is what will keep driving them to put out better product year after year and in the end it's us fishermen that win
  24. How did this turn into a Big Weenie vrs A-Tom-mik competition? See how you are Mark...always starting trouble just kidding bud. I have a few of those Luhr Jenson flies in the boat and while I have never actually put one in the water...I can't see why they wouldn!t catch fish. And from your second report, it sounds as though they do. Hey...all the fly guys make flies that catch fish. It's a personal preference and the smart guys use them all ! I ain't so smart, so I stick with my BW products because Gary is a friend and I think he and Karen are about as good a people as your going to find. Gary ties all the flies himself, and it shows in the quality of every fly you get from BW. Gary doesn't even fish anymore just so he doesn't fall behind on orders. Can you say that about the others? I happen to know for a fact that numerous atomic pro staffers use some BW flies also....and visa versa I am sure....who cares really? I think this whole "click" thing is ridiculous. Shop at alll the manufacturers and let the fish decide As far as the loc, On The Lam, there has been an issue with Dave not allowing "Big Weenie" on the leader board as to not offend the soccer moms. For the most part, nothing, or just "fly" was posted on the board. I do think this has been changed now, but I am not totally sure? Tom has done a great job over the years with his marketing tactics on Lake O, and that is reflected on the loc leader board and the tweets, but that has more to do with "clicks" and marketing than it does with what catches fish
