  1. I totally understand your point of view Jan. It's not that I don't agree with you...I do!! I guess what I was thinking is that for what would probably be a nominal fee permit to run a third rod, you could buy one or two less flasher/fly combos and probably cover the cost of the permit. To be able to run a third rod, It would be worth it to me. To think we will get something for nothing in NY seems a tad far fetched to me...maybe I'm wrong? I'm just trying to be realistic. I'm not a NY resident, but I did own a summer cottage in NY for 8 years so I got a taste of how things are run. BTW Jan...I still have not gotten any pics of that new boat of yours. Email some to Jeff and I....we wanna see it
  2. Nice Jan...you just insulted the vast majority of the entire LOU community.
  3. I said awhile back that the best way to get this to happen is to propose a special paid permit for the use of a third rod. This would generate revenue PLUS give state power over where three rods can be utilized. I know most everyone complains and cringes over more fees, but really......big deal!! Personally, I've spent more money burning gas pulling my boat to the lake only to find I couldn't even fish cause it was to rough, than a seasonal NY fishing license costs me. They can do whatever they want with my money....long as I can go fish
  4. Congrats on another succesful journey around the sun Tom Wishing you many more!
  5. LMAO......I needed a good laugh today Ray. The Christian headphone comment was priceless!! Rollie fished with me in the Oswego Scotty Ray...then again for a couple striper trips. Since he is still planning on fishing with Jeff and I this year, I guess he's OK with the "F" bomb being dropped on occasion. If he's anything like everyone else I know, he doesn't listen to half of whayt I say anyhow... Rollie is a heck of a good guy. I'm privlaged to have both Jeff and him as teammates. It's gonna be a crazy fun year !!!!
  6. You wouldn't want to just call me and ask Rollie..... Hey, don't forget to pencil in the Wilson Scotty too! Give me a shout one of these days! I'll be in the Fl. Keys fishing the next couple of weeks
  7. What do you think....anyone try it out yet? Simple concept and it sounds great....if it doesn't interfere with fighting the fish?? Not having to reel in tripped dipseys sounds to good to be true!! http://www.legendaryproduct.com/wonder-set-2.asp
  8. My question is...has anyone tried this....or know anything about it? My main worry is fleas !! Do they collect on the power pro? Also...what lb cable....250 ?? http://powerpro.com/publish/content/glo ... igger.html I tried a braided cable last year and...OMG !! The fleas were so bad I stripped it after the first hour of use. It was cabelas though. I'd like to go to the PP but I don't want to waste my money. Thanks for any help on the subject
  9. Thanks for the update Brian I hope this happens.....I don't know how I'm gonna find time to work?
  10. Yeah, I hope the committee does more to promote the open division this year. I remember you saying that last year and it was a good point Scott. I made mention to Dave Turner. He said they admit they did not promote the open well and intended on doing a better job in 10. Maybe we should make that a point to remind the committee. We'd all love more cash...eh? Some sponsors want to give merchandice though. More entry fees would be more cash. That's why we need the Pro Am to grow
  11. Well deserved Tom
  12. As far as getting more teams involved, I think we need to start with ourselves. If we could stop bickering about the rule changes some of us would like to see, and replace them with good stories of our past Pro Am expierences and the reasons we are all so passionate about our beloved Pro Am series in the first place, I think we could get some of those people who are on the fence to take the plunge. We may be generating a false image to those fishermen who only have what they see on-line to go by? We regulars know...fish it once and you're hooked. They're awesome, and the passion shown in these threads supports how much we care. So I'll say it again...let's start hearing about the good. I know there are 1000's of good Pro Am stories out there. We need to generate a positive image, and ignore the few who want to keep harping over the same old stuff !!!!
  13. Now is the time to act on the sponsors. Strike while the iron is hot and we should be capitalizing on the national TV show that recently aired. Paul says there are more in the works, and if I recall some (if not all) of the sponsors of that event got mention! All the sponsors should get a credit at the end of a show, that would be a good selling point. Just think, if every team got one good lead to hand to the committee, what a difference that would make!!!! Not that we have to pull in the likes of Ford or Budwieser just yet....how about marinas, tackle shops, stores like Gander or Cabelas, lure companies (anyone call Baitrix, Fish-on, etc. yet?) motels, campgrounds, restaurants, etc, etc....places that benifit from our stay but don't yet contribute!! The big tackle companies and equipment manufacturers are a no brainer....we need more to come aboard! Just my opinion, but I think everyone waits for someone else to do it.
  14. Surgeon loop knot....like Tim said. Can't find one good reason to do it any other way? Loop knots don't cost nothin either
  15. Ditto what Glen said. Two seperate outlets. If you have an emergency and you need to run both, one outlet can only handle one pumps volume. I have three pumps on two outlets (one on each side). Two pumps on a Y connection out one side and a single on the other side. I also ran each off a different battery. One pump should be an auto. Be prepared for the unforeseeable.
  16. I wrote them too....never got a respose back though. This was all before I saw the show that was taped last spring. From what Paul wrote, It sounds like more are in the works, so smile real pretty this year guys.
  17. Howie and I are working on that (the making up part...not the man kissing part) The image of that is kinda freaking me out!! Maybe we'll just settle for a cold one...if that's OK with everyone.....
  18. The passion brought fourth during this and every Pro Am subject is glaringly obvious....is it not? All I have to say at this juncture is this, there have been so many good points here (and I have read every one) I don't even know how I feel anymore
  19. Good suggestions Paul, thanks for your input I wish I knew how to help out more. I certainly would. Hopefully, I was able to get us at least one new sponsor this year, as Big Weenie has told me he'd jump aboard. I passed that over to Dave Turner, so I'm assuming he has taken it from there? I was comfortable speaking with BW, cause he's a great down home kinda guy and easy to talk to so we've developed a good repore. However, for the most part I feel as though I lack information to present to a potential sponsor. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think they want to hear from a participant. Besides....you know how important first impressions are. As participants, I don't know that we're armed with the proper tools and knowledge to pull in big money sponsors. What would your advise be Paul? You gave us a suggestion on what to do....now we need to be tought how to do it. Most teams are going to be a tad bit intimidated calling a potential sponsor. Knowledge is power !! Why don't you guys put together a sponsor committee?? I place my vote for Billy V to head it Ray....I do give you credit buddy. You give the Pro Am props everytime you get the chance We have fished against each other several occasions, enjoying a few beers and good conversation along the way. My teams visit to your teams camp in the 08 Sodus Pro Am will forever be a hilariously memorable moment for me. One which we still laugh about. Your visit to our camp last spring to borrow a towel was our laugh last year (pink towel incident). What's gonna happen this year.....I can't wait to find out Those are the things that don't get talked about enough. How about some good stories of your Pro am expierences? These are the reasons I can't wait for them every year. It's not about the money. It's about the journey....and the thrill of competition. The thrill of victory...the agony of defeat...the coulda...the shoulda.....The pro am series is something we should all expierence. All the friends made along the way is something I really value. Whether you finish in first place, or last place...it doesn't matter. You participated, and therefore you're accepted as part of "the club". We have all bombed at one time or another, that's just fishing. If you love lake Ontario fishing....give one a try and you'll know why many of us become so passionate over it.
  20. I too use the small spro for the copper to pp connection. I tried the albright, but the spro just gives me a higher degree of confidence in my connection. While I don't use heat shrink at that connection, I do use it when splicing two pieces of copper together with a spro and haywire twists.
  21. Hi Paul.....been awhile since I've seen ya. Hope all is good! We have given this thought on our boat and have discussed about going all-coated. I tried the braided cable....big mistake!! It collected more fleas than I ever thought possible. Luckily, I only tried it on one rigger. It didn't last an hour and I stripped it off. My next attempt may be to try 250 lb power pro, once someone can confirm it does not collect fleas like the braided cable does? All things being equal, I think I'd prefer to go with the power pro over coated cable.
  22. LMAO !!!!! Our Bro-mance is on the rocks Paul
  23. Howie....I just don't want to discuss this particular issue with you any further. It's not being constructive and I feel you're miss quoting me. That's all I'm saying. We can kiss and make up in the spring....
  24. Howie, Maybe that is something you would do, but the way I was raised what is said in confidence stays in confidence. That is something a committee member needs to do himself. I'm not affiliated with them and don't have that right. You have a pm from me. Howie...again..."please pay attention". Now, you are starting to push my limits of tolerance here. If you are going to call someone out, get the facts straight. I HAVE REPEATEDLY SAID I AM 100% FOR CLOSED COMUNICATION. What the heck dude.....get off my back! How much clearer can I be ??? So Howie, now we are all cheaters? The current rule is open communication. How is that cheating? That's just a brilliant statement ya made there Howie. How come your Captian calls me during every Pro Am then...huh?? Yes, I speak with other captians because that is the current rule. These are friends of mine (your captian included), and if I don't speak with them when they call, I'm being rude. However....if we are no longer allowed, I would welcome that with open arms. It would relieve some of us from feeling "obligated" by friendship to make a phone call. PLEASE....direct your non-sense towards someone else. This is very non-productive and I'm done with you.
  25. And me Matt, The first would need to be answered by Tom, as I believe he jump started this thread. As for the road block statement I made, I was implying the Am time rule change that was implemented last year is backed by the same individual who is blocking the closed communication rule. I know this because of numerous in depth conversations with him. I want to be careful not to say to much, or sound like I am being overly critical. I know why they don't want to change either rule, I just happen to have a different opinion.....as do most of the teams I have heard from.
