  1. I'd really like to know how critical of a point it is as to who would weigh the fish....seems kinda irrelevant to me, but if it's an unwritten rule I would like to know about it before the fact. Duane, I recall the story your speaking about. I thought the difference was that they entered the fish under the child's name in the youth division. The child needs to land that fish....not the adult. Maybe I'm wrong, but I recall the story as the child was said to have landed the fish, then after questioning the child admitted that dad had helped...thus the dq.
  2. On a different question about the rules, I was curious about a scenario and I find nothing in the rules addressing it. Does one fisherman have to handle the rod with the loc fish on it the entire time, or can it be handed off to another fisherman anytime during the fight? I'm curious only because I will be fishing with a lessor experienced friend or two and I will want to net the fish to minimize troubles at the boat. If I were to be on the rod, could I hand it off to a buddy in order to net the fish? Maybe I should call Dave on this for clarification. I'd hate to find that's not legal after the fact.
  3. Stringers have been looked over by myself and the repair shop and we feel they are in good condition. This whole outdrive story has been a long, troubling and costly expierience. I wish I would have bought 2 new ones from the start. Live and learn. Assuming I'm happy with this one from SEI, I'll be ordering a second one during the off season. Good news is the new drive from SEI arrived this morning
  4. Why not? I'll be up in Mexico from the 28th to the 1st, I'll keep an eye out for you.
  5. Jekyll, I only live 10-15 min. from you in Pleasant Valley (Rt 212). I have spent many a summer day wading the big river down in your neiborhood....mostly on the Jersey side. Just took the boy fishing down there about a week ago.
  6. I'd agree it's not the tournaments. Most of us who fish them would be fishing anyway. Personally, I just work my schedule so that I'm fishing those weekends. In fact, during a Pro Am I can only catch 6 legal fish and I gotta quit fishing. How many might we have caught had we continued to fish ? Many days it would have been twice as many or more. Most of your tournament fishermen are very committed to the well being of this fishery. Our boat caught and released more fish this season than any season I have fished in the past. We will continue to do so, releasing most fish except for those caught on tournament days. Really...I think the fish have migrated over the deep water and some have traveled the north shore and may not show in Sodus or Fairhaven this year in any great numbers.....hope I'm wrong Bill!!!! Just my 2cents.
  7. Hey....thanks for the tip Chinook 35. My repair shop won't fix the drive....they said a bearing went and I'm SOL, so be that as it may, I ordered a new drive from SDE and a coupler. She Should be ready to fish by next weekend
  8. Our plans just changed....had trouble getting slips for our labor day trip, so I got a slip on the little Salmon instead. We are fishing: Point Breeze 20,21, 22 Sodus, 23 (FHC) Mexico/Oswego 28,29,30,31,1 Looks like a ton us lou'ers are fishing the east end. We will be staying at Jellystone and have one of their slips. Hope to see a few of you there!! They might still have one or two left yet for anyone searching for a slip.
  9. When your Sub Troll acts up, take a wet rag and drape it over the spring antenna. I can't explain why it works, but it does.....anyone who has been on my boat will attest to it!
  10. The fleas are bad everywhere. When you talk about Main Duck.....are you talking bout fishing the wall and shipping lane, or south of the Island? From the little I have heard, the shipping lanes have been a bust this year. I'm guessing the bass & eye's fishing is good there though!
  11. Looks like we are going to be fishing 5 or 6 of the ports during the loc So where is the winner coming from and what's the weight gonna be? I'm gonna guess 36.4 to win, though I think a 38lb+ fish will be caught this season.
  12. I hear ya Ray. This may be the first trip for me on lake O I put having fun and relaxing ahead of catching fish. It's just something I want to do. I may have to leave a good pod of fish to make the next port....but who knows what I may run into ?? Mark, I plan on running cut bait on a rod or two the whole trip, just like you suggest. I want to do a lot of experimenting on this trip. Would you happen to have a number for Mayers?
  13. Hey Ray, we will be staying at Captain's Cove on the 20th and 21st before heading to Sodus. Maybe we will see you there
  14. I have an Idea for a loc salmon trip from the 28th of Aug. to the 1st of September that I could really use some help in planning. Myself and a friend or two are planning on starting somewhere mid-lake and staying on my boat and trolling east trough several ports over the course of several days, staying in various ports overnight. If the stars and planets all align correctly for us.....It could be a very relaxing and adventurous trip, interrupted occasionally by a screaming drag This is obviously weather permitting and heavy winds or thunderstorms could keep us stuck in one port for the entire time....who knows? But this is what we are planning and we will hope for good weather. Now for the planning stage.....what do you think a realistic 4 day goal would be? Where to start and where to end? How about something like Braddocks to Oswego? Where would good ports be to overnight...shower....gas up and eat? Loc stations along the way. Any thoughts that I should consider that I may be overlooking? Am I whack for even considering it :? Lucky Enuff handles bumpy water very well and she is equipped for the job, and I think it could be a blast If I plan it well and Mother Nature works with me (and we know she won't). I have 2 good chart plotters with a c-map, so I'll be in good shape that way, but I'm unfamiliar with the water from Point Breeze to Sodus, which makes planning kinda hard. I have a feeling my LOU family can help me out though Any and all thoughts will be appreciated in planning this trip. Hope to talk with some of you guys along the way.
  15. If you're fishing the fall loc, what port are you fishing out of, and how many days do you plan on fishing? I am starting out in Point Breeze on the 20th on Jeff J's boat for a few days, then moving to Sodus for the 23rd on the Fishful Thinking boat. I'll then fish the final long weekend on Lucky Enuff, just not sure what port yet? I'm hoping to get in around 8 days of fishing.
  16. Don't know bout those spoons, flies or flashers, but it sounds like that salesman knows how to catch CBish's. They say a lure doesn't have to catch fish, only fishermen
  17. Bob, unless something changes we will have 7 people aboard (5 adults, 13 & 9 yr old) for the fairhaven challenge. Marcus can sleep all he wants.... I know what yer saying....he was feeling a little pale day two in the Oswego Pro Am with us. What's up with that :? And BTW Melissa and Todd, I spoke with Marcus this morning. What's up....I head back to Pa and you guys stop fishing....wtf? If I lived where you do...I'd be out several times a week!! Now....get out there and get that boat bloody!!!
  18. Steve, what type of cut bait are you using? Is it working well for you?
  19. I checked them out....Wow, good prices and a warrenty! Only 200 bucks more than I paid to have mine redone and I've had nothin but problems. Any other opinions on Stern Drive Engineering Inc? On the surface, it seems stupid to not buy one. I'm done putting $$ in mine, but I'm hoping they fix it so I can keep it as a spare  Thanks for the info.
  20. Hmmm....sounds like it's game on Bob. I'm breaking out our secret weapon for the FHC.....my 9 yr old son Justin will be joining the crew. He's good luck, so we're gonna be a tuff team to beat
  21. Rusty Hook.....My advise for you would be to fish browns early (if that is your intent), then pick up and run deep. Set up in 200 and troll deep (250 to 600) till you either hook up or mark fish. Don't waste good fishing time trolling the 90-200 waters.....been dead for good numbers of kings more time than not this year on the east end. Every day is different, but the deep water has been the place to be....don't be fooled by a lack of marks either.....fish are there but they are in pockets. Good luck!!
  22. Your killing me Ray....LMAO !!!! C'mon...I was trying to be polite Thanks Matt.....I'll get my order in tomorrow!
  23. See Bob...nice guys DO finish last.... Hey, I better stop talking about this, I havn't even asked him yet  I'm thinking we (Marcus and myself) are fishing the Fairhaven Challange together on Fishful Thinking. You and Todd are in for that, right Melissa? Hey Jeff....I'll be amazed if you can pull off all 6 with a (then) 3yr old in the house. That will be impressive!! You'll earn lots of man points for that!!
  24. I'm gonna try Bob.......Your boat is like 10 times nicer, so I'm gonna have to sweetin the deal somehow..... I'm pretty sure Marcus is fishing the 4 Pro am's with us too....he's become a good friend and I enjoy having him around!!! Same goes for Melissa and Todd!
