  1. That's EXACTLY what I had envisioned Sigg. Darn....I wish I had knew that, would have loved to have it earlier this season. I need about 6, any idea where can I get them & do you by chance sell them without the hooks? I like making my own tourney rigs. Thanks Sigg
  2. Oh brother, Captain Oblivious strikes again!!! Me missed the whole "dolphin" part of this post That's the original Fishlander Miami green froggy. Reguardless.....good spoon for me at times. On a slightly different subject, I'd sure like a fly in a similar pattern as the Miami green frog....anyone make one yet? I did really well with a purple mirage this year, but I wish I had a fly with both purple mirage and green crinkle....maybe one in a glow pattern as well.....Anything out there like that?
  3. Here is the spoon I was talking about.....sorry, the whole Miami thing threw me off. The one I did very well on this past spring was a Fishlander Miami Green "Froggy"......DUH!!!!
  4. Yup....I think that's a fishlander spoon and they shut their doors. I have 4 or 5 and they were a smokin deep spoon in the spring for me this season.
  5. You have a keeper there Nick....She's behind you big time and you guys are alot like Jen and I. Good point on the gifts, I'm working on that My wife knew when we went on our honeymoon 17 years ago and I took a fishing pole with me, that she was gonna have to be tolerant of my hobby. One day of our honeymoon I got up early and took off solo for a day trip of fishing....left a note on the table that said "gone fishin"and it's been that way ever since.....true story To do 6+ tourneys, I had to throw her a bone though, so I promised the first couple weeks in Aug 09 we'd do a family trip to Yellowstone National Park. It looks like we should have enough guys to fill the roster for all the events. I'm pretty sure Marcus can do the Spring Scotty, might be to much for Jeff cause he's doing all 4 pro am's.....he hasn't chimed in yet. I'm starting early cause it's gonna take a whole year of planning to pull this off without becoming homeless
  6. Actually, I just spoke with the wife about it at the dinner table tonight. She didn't scream at me or nothin....so I took it that as meaning it's okay If the team is up for it we are gonna kick next year off with the spring Scotty and I'm pretty stoked about that. Should be a lot of fun hanging out & fishing with our friends up north. I'll look forward to seeing you and your crew in the spring Matthew.
  7. I definitly want to plan on fitting in the spring & fall Scotty for next season. Those, coupled along with the 4 Pro Ams should get me in about all the trouble I can handle with the wife. Looks like if she wants a family vacation next summer, she's gonna have to take up fishing Hey Eric....you fish those with Royal Flush? I only ask cause I noticed at the awards ceremony in Sodus that you fished on that team. I know you fished some events out of your boat also. We spoke with you for awhile at your boat in Wilson. Good to see you on LOU!
  8. SF....you can't go wrong with a green crinkle, tg, green hammer( diff than "the" hammer) white halo, crushed ice, etc. None will catch fish all the time, but all will catch fish some of the time. On the wifey thing.....how about selling some stuff on ebay (preferably the wife's stuff) and using that money to buy fishing stuff. Another option is to start buying the wife fishing gear for your anniversery, her birthday & christmas. Oh...she'll be pissed the first time or two. If your really lucky she may even stop talking to ya for a week or two. But she's a smart lady and she'll catch on real fast. When she does, expect jewlery, womens clothing and day spa gift certificates when you open your presents. It's a win/win situation
  9. Anyone here fish the Scotties I just read that next year's series will be 6 events instead of 3. I'm giving some thought to fishing a couple, they sound like loads of fun and the prize money is crazy (25k first place for the upcoming event). Anyone on LOU have any expierences fishing the Scotties they'd care to share? Is it more difficult for us yanks to fish them? Thanks
  10. On the Alignment.....I had both motors aligned this spring. The stringers are good and the motors seem tight. I'm ordering the mercruiser alignment tool anyway to double check things myself before putting it back together. It was the locked up outdrive at 3500 rpm's that caused the coupler to spin.
  11. Just curious....Will this years payout structure be same as last year? They only paid out top 3 last year. Most tourneys pay out at least top 10. I know we finished 7th last year and we were behind 4 teams for the $$ and there were over 50 teams entered if I recall? Heck....I'm happy getting my 50 bucks back... Not to be negative or nothin......It was well run and I had a great time. Just think it would get more teams involved and be more interesting if they spread the money....look at Mikes....over 100 teams entered  Either way.....It's looking like we should be in.
  12. Yes.....I will call you Hank, Thanks! And nope....wasn't Hank or anyone on this board that worked on the boat. And I should add that I have been very pleased with my Mechanics, even though we keep having this troubling issue. They are great guys and I know they are trying. That doesn't mean I'm not frustrated at this continuing problem though. Just not sure where to go from here? Have them repair again.... replace....I just don't know what to do? I just want it right....I can't keep blowing things up while fishing the Pro Am's ....they d'q you now even if your a couple seconds late reguarless of the reason Besides, this crap is seriously eating into my fishing time Rick....The first time there was a little water in the oil....nothin too bad though. Then it was worked on and after a month I checked and it was like strait tap water. I never really understood what was wrong, but they sent some seal out to the machine shop to have it cleaned up and said it should be okay for awhile (didn't charge me anything). Two weeks later....KABOOM!! The fact that I now have to pull the motor cause of this problem to replace the coupler is a real thorn in my side. Guess I just have to wait awhile to see what's wrong with it and go from there.
  13. I am having continious problems with one of my outdrives. As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I had both of them gone over by a reputable repair shop this past spring. I paid $1000 each to have them repaired as needed, resealed, etc. My bill was $3400 total cause I had a few other things done as well. I was told I should be good for awhile but it hasn't worked out that way. The one drive was already back for service once cause I found the lower case to have a lot of water in it after being in the water for a month. Got it back.....used it two long weekends and on the way into the weigh in station day #2 of the Wayne Pro am.....BANG!! Moter reved to 5-6k till I could pull off the throttle  . Under pressure to get in (we were sitting in first place at the time and I didn't want to loose my day 2 box) I pushed the remaining motor full bore and made it in with 5 seconds to spare  . I smelled burning rubber, and after looking it over I determined I spun a coupler. Upon removing the drive a few days later, I found the driveshaft won't really spin. If I force it, it will spin but I hear a grinding noise from within. I call the shop and they said I should probably get a new drive. I sorta agree, but I just put a grand in this one.....why not tell me that sooner ? On top of it all, when it blew, it must have jammed up and spun the coupler also :x Now I gotta pull the motor and fix that too! I don't know that damage didn't occur when they got the seal wrong and I ran it with water in the drive this spring.....or they didn't get something wrong the second time they put it together? Before we started doing all this mechanical work, short of a dead battery she was very dependable. Seems like this year however, we've opened up a can of worms and it's been one thing after another. They agreed to look it over and determine what went wrong, so I dropped it off Friday night. They may fix it again...I don't know? They are good guys, But I'm pretty darn frustrated at this point....what would you do?
  14. Ray.....waz just talking bout this with some captain's in Sodus Yesterday. I....like you, don't have the years of lake time that many have. I'm interested in hearing some opinions on what's up ? Almost everyone I speak with is struggling more days than not to find any numbers of fish, unless they are fishing out of Olcott. We have been fortunate to have had several very good days this season, but when I do I'm always fishing deep (250-600 fow). In general it's just been a really hard summer to find consistant fish. No coho's since May for us either. Are the bulk of the kings still out west? If so, what would the reasoning be? There hasn't been a lack of bait.....marked some of the largest bait pods I've personally ever seen this summer.
  15. Fished the past two weeks out of Oswego & Sodus. Been to busy to get into specifics, but I will give a quick rundown of the two weeks & what worked for us. I was Lucky Enuff to fish with several great fishermen over the past couple weeks. We all have a love and compassion for this great fishery and even when the fishing gets tuff....Imo Lake O still beats just about any other fishery on the east coast! We expierenced many ups and downs as usual over the past couple weeks, but we had some great days and created some memories that will stick with me forever!! In the four events we fished, we were lucky enuff to finish 3rd, 12th, 11th and 2nd with a bonus 3rd in the east challenge cup. It was a solid team effort, with two completly different teams. Fished slightly west out of both ports, but never strayed more than 6-8 miles from either chute. Also...I think we fished deeper waters than many of the teams. I'm only guessing that by how often we were alone. Most of our fish were from 250 to 600 fow. Sometimes we really had to wait them out though. We trusted our lure selections and kept them in the water while we searched. We were rewarded last weekend though with two triples and a double.......and a lot of quiet time in between We had a hard time getting a spoon bite, and the copper just died for me I love the copper, and I just don't know what happened? Maybe 4 fish the whole time (all small ones). Riggers were hot and cold. We took our biggest fish on the rigger 131 down over 250 on a green e-chip and a TG fly. Spoons that took multiple fish were the stinger kevorkian, moonshine glow nbk & the area 51. The dipsey was HOT, and saved our butt on several days!! A green e-chip with a green dreamweaver strong fly was out of control last week in sodus. Different settings worked at different times. Second best dipsey set up was a bloody death spinny and a purple mirage fly. Anywhere from 250 to 325 seemed to work at one time or another. Lots of things took one fish apiece, but those were the studs the past week+ for us. Good luck, tight lines and be safe out there the remainder of the season!!
  16. Nice story and Congrats on the big steel Mark!! I've done that same type of run twice this year and It's pretty nerve wracking...isn't it But like you said....a real rush once you make it !! Great job....It's been a great season for you so far!
  17. I'm leaving the door open for fishing the fall LOC, but I really don't care for the combat fishing myself. We have been blessed and have caught more salmon this past season than the past couple seasons combined, so I promised the family I'd do the "family time" thing with them for the remainder of the summer. They deserve it....I've done 4 week long salmon trips this year without them and I'm suprised my wife is still with me Besides....The Pro Am's are over and we have big plans for Lucky Enuff to get her Tournament ready for next year. Now.....once the kids go back to school, I'll be ready to go again
  18. Hey guys.....I got your plug. You want me to send it to you?
  19. I'm thankful everything worked out Chad.....lord that must have been scary. I have a 5 yr old and a 9 yr old and they are my life. I would have needed counseling myself had I gone through that. All this other non- sense we get worked up about in life is meaningless. For me...spending time with my kids makes all that stuff go away. Hey....too bad we never had a chance to grab that beer. I decided to drink a couple for ya though Maybe next year when I get out to the west end for the month of May?
  20. Sounds good.....I'm putting the salmon boat away for the season to spend more time with the wife and kids as well as upgrading some things for next season. I'll get out on other boats a couple times, but I'd imagine I'll be more than ready by the time the stripers inch in towards the hook. Looking forward to it!!!
  21. Absolutly....A Huge Thank You to everybody behind these events that put forth all the effort to make them happen. I can't begin to imagine how much work and planning it must take. I thanked Dave Chilson and Dave Turner in person at the Wayne Pro Am. I'd like to thank everyone else involved for all your hard work.
  22. Have not seen anything yet either. I'd like to know the final point standings.
