  1. Is the 1K/day tourney included in the "no fishing in canada" rule? Was thinking about getting in to that tourney for the week but plan on fishing in Canada.
  2. Was either the Spring of 1995/96 when there was a late release. Ice was still coming out of the river almost all the way down to Wilson. Fished on the edge of the flow and caught laker after laker, couple steelies. No kings to be found.
  3. Thanks all. So you are mainly fishing near shore with boards for Kings down there? I called the Ontario Natural Resources number from Paul. They gave me a number for the "Simplied Cell Phone Reporting for Private Boaters in Border Waters" and said we need to call that number before entering Canadian waters and report in. Also, need passport/enhanced license as well as outdoor card & conservation license. Didn't make it seem too difficult. Thanks again, DR
  4. Thinking we are going to need one this year to get into any decent king action during the Spring LOC. Just looking for some advice and where/how/when I can get one and the cost? Is there anything I else I need to consider to fish Canadian waters in our own boat? Also, typically how far west would I have to run from the Niagara river to start getting in to some Kings? Thanks in advance, DR
  5. Just an interesting tidbit that I saw on a nature show. Litter size for coyotes is directly dependent on population density. When the population starts to decrease it is corrected by a litter size of 15-20 pups per litter. Overpopulation and they may only have 1 to 3 pups. Reducing coyotes out west has always been a losing proposition because of this. The rebound of these animals from hunting pressure is simply amazing. Off topic, but I thought I’d share.
  6. Thanks. Was looking at a 2005-2007 cuddy. Doesn't appear they make a walk around anymore. Would prefer the extra room in the cockpit/cabin area that a cuddy offers for LO fishing. Also, it appears the freeboard is a liitle deeper in the cuddy compared to the walkaround.
  7. Starting to look around a bit for a A-Lure-A II. The Wellcraft Coastal 252 looks like it would make a mean LO fishing boat with just enough emenities to be family friendly. Anybody have any experience with this boat or know where I may be able to see one in person? http://www.wellcraft.com/index.php/COASTAL/252%20COASTAL Thanks in advance, D
  8. If you want cuda or shark go with the nearshore trip with Dreamcatcher charters.
  9. Wishing you the best possible outcome and good health to you and your family
  10. Reese James. 11/8/13
  11. Duckman. I would say that if that buck is 200 this one is more like 180. They live long here as long as they don't get hit by a car
  12. I have a massive 8 pointer guarding a doe here in my yard in irondequoit. He has been chasing a 4 pointer all day. I have some contractors here putting up a fence that have had to run out of their way for fear of being run over. The big buck is totally crazed thrashing trees all day and charging the smaller buck...and contractors if they are in the way. Pretty cool. Hope they don't get hit by a car. Nearest woods is a half mile away. Contractor said the buck was a 200 class...whatever that means?
  13. We were getting them in the river all the way until we left a 2pm on Sunday with a ton of boat traffic and high sun. Go figure
  14. You can troll the river all the way up to the 104 bridge. We concentrated more towards the lake.
  15. Seemed better in 60 FOW for us or in the river. Didn't see much at the mouth. Came in the river later in the morning and did better than I thought we would. Carbon 14 and Green Glow J-plugs best in the river and FF combos out in 60FOW. Still willing matures around.
  16. Also, "lack of salmon" is relative especially if you were talk to guys who fished the lake during the 90's early 2000's.
  17. Ditto on the wind this year compared to last year. Mature bite was stupid last year down at Niagara...not so much this year. Despite the wind this year our mature summer bite was actually better than last year. Died labor weekend which by then the fishing is normally slower anyway.
  18. Said the same thing last year about the lack of teenagers and all the matures around. Looking back at this season I think we did just as many matures this year as we did last year though.
  19. run the Saltist 30. perfect for wire
  20. Can't always judge the size of the fish based on the fight. Had the same thing happen to me. Not quite as big as yours though. Nice fish!
  21. Matures always seem to move through the 300-500 FOW depths late July - mid August. Towards the end of August they're back <200 FOW. There are always some fish on the inside so it is still worth the trip should winds dictate how far out you can go.
  22. Anybody know where a leaderboard can be viewed for the Orleans Derby?
