I am trying to put together a fishing trip in Ontario Canada, within a 7-10 hr drive from Rochester and need some recommendations on which outfitters to possibly book with. If anyone has a suggestion on which to choose from please let me know. I would prefer only recommendations from a place that you have personally gone too and experienced the fishing and services. We went bass fishing in Lake Erie a couple weekends ago and a friend ended up catching an 18lb catfish in 20ft of water jiging a worm. It put up one heck of a fight on 6lb ultralite rod. We had to go after the fish with the trolling motor because it was taking so much line. We only caught one trophy bass @ 4lbs. It was kind of a slow day but we still had a great time with the mystery fish till it came to the boat.

The best part was watching a first timer on the big lake reel in the fish, The gentlemen kept saying "wow" as the fish was boated. You could tell it was a lifetime memory for him and he was very excited to take the fish home and show his family. The other fish were in the 18lb class.

I would love to post more often and will try to stop buy on this great platform but with a new job that keeps me 6 days a week and this little guy in training I have lost a good chunk of free time for now. You keep up the great reports as I look forward to everyone's posts. Thanks

Went out of Sandy creek with Mr. Breeze this weekend and had some great action with the big guys. We started out in the 140 fow and trolled west past the nose then turned around to head back east. We hooked up with a nice 20lber first thing in the morning on the west troll then after we spun around and just passed the nose on an easterly troll we ended up with a double. The 28lber hit our rigger 95ft down over 140 and took so much line we had to chase him down. The 26lber hit the dipsy as I started to clear the rods for the other king. With the two big guys on at once it was one hectic adrenaline rush till both were in. We did put the 26 pounder back in the pond for another day, however the big guy all spent after a 45 plus minute fight. We ended up going 10 for 10 for the day with all other fish released except for the one. Capt Eli,

Shakedown runs can be the most enjoyable rides of the year. Great to see everything was working and you were able to put fish in the boat. Now with the boat in the water comes the hard part of the season, do you go to work or play for the day? Capt. Eli,

We did not get a chance to go out this weekend as we completed a water trail on a friend’s new boat, which happens to be a 26 Thompson fishermen. The boat seems to be very well laid out for fishing and now we have to add the accessories. I would like to add, that the boys at Happy Days boating run a top-notch service and were friendly to deal with. Capt. Eli

Steve, Sorry, the planer mast was not homemade. It may look it but I had to weld a support on due to pulling triple ski boards at one time. I was also running allot of hardware like jet divers and weights for the walleye which put a good deal of strain on the mast. I do use the inline boards and have had great success with them. I would consider that as an option as well if you need a quick fix. But if you have your heart set on a planner mast I am sure you can come up with a version that will work for your boat. Turp, Mike was on my boat an 18 starcraft which is my all season boat. The boat has been a great vessel and usally sees the water about 10 months out of the year between ice out and the lower river. We are going this weekend to run a water trial on his new boat a 26 Thompson on the Ohio river. Thanks Capt. Eli

Mother nature gave us a break this am and we caught a nice day on the lake. Launched at 0700 and fished till 1:30. 8-14fow, 2.0-2.2 mph. Found a few pockets of 42 degree water and used spoons and stickbaits (no special colors) as the browns were taking everything. The total for the day was an awesome 28 for 33 browns. We kept one fish for my little 6 week old boy. I can't wait till he is big enough to reel them all in. We also did our good deed for the day and towed in one boat due to engine failure. I felt sorry for the guy as eveytime he passed us he was hooked up with a fish as well. The highlights for the day were a quad hook up at one time and one fish with an 8 inch gobie in his mouth.
