A Funny Thing Happened on My Way Out Yesterday
larry replied to sszoldra's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Good rodeo cowboy, the wild, wild northeast is a little different but you're still entitled to a cold one at the saloon for your efforts. Hope the fishing improves as well as your eye-sight was the deer flying when you first saw it or had it already landed? Were you fishing or pushing the lake? Sorry for the dumb comments, couldn't help it. -
Anybody see's a BlueEye around today wish him a Happy 30!!

Happy Birthday Chad, fishing on your birthday may become the tradition, good weekend of gators and everything else. -
Painting over a silver plate is a tricky business since silver oxidizes very quickly. Blanks are usually brass which polishes up very nicely but is soft and porous and retains oils, cleaning at this step is critical to remove these contaminants that will bleed through later and cause adhesion problems. Next a barrier layer of Nickel should be used to prevent the brass from migrating through the silver. The silver layer is usually pretty thin because of its' cost but it is the best metal choice to reflect any available light, it doesn't have to be shiny to reflect light but it attracts the buyer (not the fish) so that's why it's shiny. Finished silver plated spoons need to be packed with a desiccant to minimize moisture and oxidation during processing and shipping. To get the paint to stick to the shiny oxidized silver plate this surface needs to be modified with a quality primer or bead blast to increase the surface area for the paint to stick to. When painting one side of freshly plated spoon it is sometimes assumed that the surface is paint ready, it's not. Worked in Kodak's finishing depts for years, field tested for NK and RR and they both had this problem a long time ago but not anymore. Hope they figure it out soon while they still have customers.

Rochester, N.Y. - The Coast Guard will conduct a full scale homeland security drill along Lake Ontario’s shoreline Thursday. The Department of Homeland Security and FEMA will work with water and aircraft. The drill starts at 10:30 a.m. Careful if you're out there fishing today without your green card, they will be serious so let them do their jobs and protect our way of life.

http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/sc ... supermoon/ This will affect tides, possibly fishing if cloudless, otherwise it's just as big a moon as you can see from earth. Kind of nice to know it's not a new term for Ray's buffy mode of fishing.

larry replied to BlueEye's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Good Luck son, I know you two will take this to whole new level, I hope the PMTT is ready for you. Drive safe, keep the hooks sharp and since your in Kentucky... watch yourself around those mason jars, extremely flammable.... -

Thanks for all the well wishes guys, a nice lobster would have been a treat but I guess I'll have to wait till the Niagara Pro-Am, not quite ready to hang up the poles yet, can still hear some, and see pretty good, hips seem ok I'll try another year and see how it pans out. Chad, thanks for nice snap shots of the old days when Uncle Jerry was 1/2 the man he is now. -
Happy Birthday Scott, and merry christmas and happy new year. Another year another gray hair, enjoy your day.

Congratulations on the first grandson, your up to 6 rods already...keep them coming and you'll need a bigger boat. -
Very good report and excellent catch. Glad to see Joe's new ride worked well as a suitable replacement musky machine or pickerel picker, may it give you many years of enjoyment. Remember if you get hungry, there's still a few salmon left in the lake O that could fill the void.
-
Happy Birthday Jerry, don't worry Musky I'm not as good as I once was but Jerry's as good once as he ever was, just not as fast and with a little rest in between and some Geritol, rogaine and viagra he'll be young for a long, long time.

Congrats Tom, you engineered a campaign like no other I ever seen and for a cause that will be appreciated by the entire fishing community for years to come. Thanks for all the effort that you put into this. Do you think we can get the plugs out of our shotguns for duck season?

You might want to have some revenge and get an electric fly swatter from Harbor Freight on sale for $3, but you kill one and 100 show up for the funeral. I had one charter offer me 50 bucks for it, they are fun. http://www.harborfreight.com/lawn-garde ... 40122.html
