I have mag10 STX cannons they handle 16 lb troutman weights without a problem. I’ve been fishing Lake O since the late 70’s. My experience with weights: stay away from pancake weights , in a current they take on a life of their own and wander causing MAJOR tangles. I have 10 and 12 pound finned balls. Hardly ever use them. Keep one on board as a spare ( hope I never need it lol) 10 lb would be ok down to about 50 ft. After that the blowback becomes problematic 12 is minimum 16 is better , especially if you are sending a probe down Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Entering Canadian water
chinook35 replied to Lilogundog's topic in St. Lawrence River Fishing Reports - 1000 Islands Fishing
Canadian laws are strict. Porta potties are illegal and as previously mentioned flare pistols are considered weapons and are illegal. Check with customs about what to do entering Canadian waters. You can get an ontario license on Hill island , just over the bridge from Wellesley Island. I used to get my Can license every year , I fished Charity shoal and it’s very easy to stray into Can ada A violation will probably mean you will be towed to Kingston and pay a hefty fine. You may even lose your boat and equipment Be cautious Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

Innocent until proven guilty. That’s the way it works. But if the allegations prove true and he is guilty. A slap on the wrist is unacceptable. These are felonies. He needs to lose all rights to gun ownership. Forfeiture of his guide and hunting license. He should lose his fishing charter business in the mix. That probably won’t happen He would just put the business in his wife / girlfriend name and business as usual. Any body who uses his services , if he is found guilty , has no right to call themselves sportspeople Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Floating docks would be nice. The problem is , you need a boat to get to them. Parking lots are under a foot ( or more ) of water Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Exactly why I am glad to see more and more input by officials , Elected and appointed , like the recent forum in Watertown. The more pressure put on the IJC to re-evaluate and change p-2014 , the better They can’t go on ignoring the fact that the plan is NOT working. Or at least the way the majority of the public wants. It may benefit someone. But definitely not the majority Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I’m a little concerned about the lack of size consistency in the strips. I feel a 7 “ strip will be a terrible fit for Rhys Davis meat heads. The original RD strips ( boy , do I miss those days ) were all the same length and cut and never needed to be trimmed to fit I would very much like to see pics of finished product ( out of package ) before committing to a purchase. Thank You , Mark -

Thrust and speed must be increased down bound to maintain steerageway or tugs must assist steering. So it probably costs more in fuel downbound The IJC commissioner just attended a public forum in Watertown She told the panel to expect more flooding for LO Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

As previously stated. All I have is my extensive experiences on LO and particularly the Sandy Pond area. We knew that p2014 was going to be trouble. And we were right. Before this conspiracy was adopted , we knew that by the end of Aug or early Sept. it was time to pull the boats , as the slips were getting too shallow. Boat launches needs all of the ramp to launch. Our camp on S Sandy , where normally it was waist deep , was dry. It was the norm and planned for every year. Till now. This is year after year for 50 plus years. You can say all you want , the high water is not due to IJC , St Lawrence seaway authority and p2014. The evidence says differently Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
