  1. Drain plugs on the 3.0 are on the port side . One in the side of the engine block , one on the bottom of the manifold .Use a stiff piece of wire to probe both drain holes . Sand and scale can clog the openings . You will think all the water has drained ,when there is still some trapped . For the record , I don't use RV or any other anti freeze . Just drain it and leave it .
  2. I have always launched at French Creek Marina. He charges $5.00 be aware that the bridge is low don't know the actual clearance. But t tops are out the public launch in Clayton is free. There is no parking. You have to find a place to park on a side street and walk back to the dock. Sometimes several blocks Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. Salmon River Hatchery Made the yearly pilgrimage to the hatchery in Altmar .The fish ladders are loaded with fish . There seem to be more , and bigger ,fish in evidence this year than in the past 3 or 4 .The creek above the barrier is full of fish , so some are making it further up the creek. Natural production ? The biologist I talked to said that they will stop stripping eggs and milt this week . They have enough .054.MOV
  4. Got my lifetime license. Nice laminated permanent card. No hassles Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. I have always wondered what , if any , the cold fronts affect is on salmon fishing. Fishing has Been great earlier this week. Now we have this really cold weather and accompanying low pressure. I'll be watching the reports more information for the book Always learning Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  8. Would be a long run lol The "trench " is a canyon between Stoney Island and Stoney Point out of Henderson Harbor on the east shore .
  9. Trench 8/30 Fished the Trench from 6;30 to12;00 noon . Screen was loaded with marks all day . Managed 4 kings and 2 coho . No majors , kings ran 12 to 16 lbs. Lots of boats but everyone was courteous and gave plenty of room .
  10. X2. I had to replace my cable this past spring. Same symptom hard steering. Not a bad job. Running it to the stern was the worst part take your old cable out before you order the new cable. The length is clearly marked on the cable Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. As you stated. Avoiding a collision is paramount there is really no right of way on the water. There are stand on and give way vessels but the rules of the road stipulate that the rules go out the window to avoid a collision Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Think you may have been too shallow. That storm blew a lot of warm water into the bay. A good way to tell if you have DF transducer is to check the mounting bracket on the stern. A DF is a bigger ducer and has a two piece plastic mount. The 200 kHz skimmer trans has a one piece metal bracket Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Do you have a dual frequency transducer ? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. Pancakes =tangles. Especially in cross currents. Get some 12 lb ( or heavier ) torpedo weights. And keep in mind with this much blowback , you may need 150 ft or more downrigger cable out to reach 100 ft Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Long boat ride out of A -bay for salmon Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. The CV series not the CN's. I have 7 CV30d's. And love them Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I took the 13 week course with my son when he was 10 so that he could operate the boat I gained a wealth of knowledge from that course regarding the rules of the road on the water. You can't operate a motor vehicle without classes ,training and testing Why should ANYBODY be allowed to operate a boat without like training. I have been an advocate of mandatory training and have contacted legislators Re: this matter. I know. You will say training won't stop idiots. But at least they will have a clue about how to operate a boat. Which many out there don't Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  19. Big Weenie stopped making the stuff years ago. Must be a reason. Some things catch more fishermen than fish. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Pic of the lake from beach at Sandy pond inlet. Waterspouts anyone. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. I have Been fishing meat for a lot of years. Rhys Davis was THE best cut bait ever. He got out of the US market when VHS raised its ugly head. He would not change his prep methods I have tried every imitation cut bait product. I have a ton of Big Weenie stuff. Think I may have taken one king on it. Probably on a day they would hit a tin can I can say that NOTHING outfishes the real thing. Some brands are better than others. Don't cheap out. Buy the best Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Waterspouts anyone ?? Nice salmon chop NOT. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Fat Nancy's has cut bait. I believe All Seasons has it also. Not sure about Woody's. But you could give them a call Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. I believe that cold fronts have negative effect on the bite . A cold front means low pressure and that effects the water column ,no matter how deep. The rough water doesn't help either LOL
