  1. You need a shop manual !! I believe this motor has optical ignition system and is diagnosed with a laptop and a special program . You might want to check your shift interrupter switch , that will kill one bank of cylinders . Also ,did your engine get hot ? It has a sensor that limits rpm if engine gets too hot . Rev limiter may be bad etc. etc . Technology is great when it works .firgot to add you check timing advance with an automotive timing light while engine is running. Check manual for timing marks and specifications
  2. Check your timing advance. Sound a lot like an ignition spark advance issue. Probably built into the ignition module
  3. What has this to do with Lake Ontario fishing ?
  4. Slow (but beautiful) day for us . Got to launch at 5:30 AM ,only one boat in parking lot . Ran out to 150fow and set up cut bait and spoon program . Screen empty for the most part . A few hooks deep (LT ? ) .Temp down 120 -130 feet . had one knock off , bait chewed up pretty good ,but no one home . Decided Kings were still west ( should have known that before we left the launch ) . Moved in to 100 fow 60 degree down 80-90 ft . Put down all spoons and finally hooked a 5 lb brown . Then a nice steelie . pulled lines at noon and headed in . Spent a good deal of time trying to get a handle on Lowrance Hook 7X ,not a user friendly unit , but that's probably me . Great to be out there . Guess you never get over the fishing fever .
  5. I stated on a previous post ,that due to the poor fishing the last couple of years, that I was going to adopt a wait and see attitude . BUT , I am having withdrawl symptoms . Heading out of Mexico this morning . Hope to post my success {I hope) later .
  6. look it up it's in the CG rules of the road
  7. Negative Recreational fishing is not considered "fishing" as in commercial fishing . Recreational fishermen are just that . And follow all the rules of any recreational boater . You must give way to a sailing vessel under sail . If they are under power ,they must follow the same rules as any power boat . The question that was put here was a sailboat overtaking a power boat . The rules state the sailboat is the give way boat and the fishing boat is the stand on vessel . The power (fishing ) vessel must maintain it's heading (course) so that the sailing vessel can pass to port or starboard .
  8. and that is exactly what you should do as the stand on vessel maintain your course
  9. The "rules of the road " state : If a sailboat is overtaking a recreational power boat , the power boat is the stand on vessel and the sailboat is the give way boat . You were in the right to maintain your course , but the rules also state that all actions must be taken to avoid a collision . As stated , some people on the water have NO clue .
  10. Is it possible someoine replaced that hub at one time ? If you look at bearing buddy website ,you will find that there are different diameters for different brands of hubs . They list 1.781 " , 1.810 " and 1.980 " . You may need the 1.810 instead of the 1.781' . That's not a big difference in size ,but could account for your lost caps . If you have an inside micrometer you could measure the hub .
  11. The sprays for horses are NOT for use on humans and are NOT for use around water. Read the label. Extremely toxic to all fish and water creatures and toxic to humans
  12. Been at war with these little b#$%^@'s for a long time . My fishing buddy killed 250 in one afternoon with a fly swatter . The ONLY repellent that I have found that works ( at least any that works AND is safe for humans ) is Buggspray . The biting fly formula . I did a little research and found that they are stable flies . How they get 15 miles off shore is another question . www.buggspray.com
  13. County-Committee-Says-No-To-Wind-Farm-Tax-Breaks-384824771.html Jefferson County is on board . Hope the towns and villages follow suit .
  14. Had to replace my Alpha 1 gen II 4 years ago due to a rock and fog . Bought SEI and was never sorry .
  15. You will see this on Lake O all the time . One of my pet peeves . A guy that is running a boat that is 300 ft wide and 900 ft long (planer boards and long lines ) is asking a bit much and I have no intention of giving any one that much clearance .
  16. Now the health dept. is trying to determine where the 6th finger came from .
  17. I bought some dressed smelt at the fish market and filleted and cut to bait strip size . I brined the strips in PLAIN salt and borax , packed in zip lock bags and froze . Haven't tried them yet , but they look good and I have high hopes
  18. Give me your address and I will keep you in oil cans for life lol
  19. Gambler , I agree that the perch fishing late has been good . My point is that the fishery is changing drastically . We could go to several spots in Henderson Harbor and fill the boat with jack perch starting in August . No more . The fishing has started later and later . Is it because of Gobies ? I don't know . But I wish someone could come up with an answer .
  20. I have found ,after 40 years of fishing Lake O ,that weather , wind and wave height predictions are sketchy at best . What you see is what you get . I have seen NOAA forecasts of 1-3 wave height ,only to get to the lake and find easy 3-5 's . and on the other hand I have seen really scary forecasts and the lake is nearly flat . Unless the wind is blowing hard when I get up ,I head to the dock . If it's bad , I head for the diner and wait it out or head back home .
  21. I saw a post that stated the author was going to treat Lake O Lake trout like round gobies and lampreys . I think I can get behind that idea
  22. I use a cedar plank to grill the oil cans . Then I throw the fish away and eat the plank . When all there is left to catch on Lake O ,is LT . I'm hanging up my fishing equipment .
