    I saw the pics a while back of the new dock under construction. I wondered how the access is? I dont need too much water, as I can always use my electric motor to get out. Just wondering if I could get the boat off the trailer? Thanks as always for the info!

    Ive got a 23 foot fiberglass boat. If you have a smaller boat you may get out but floating it off the trailer is an issue.

    Very very shallow. A guy with a bass boat launched while i was there. he had to use his electric motor to go out of the launch. He told me not to try it because I would not be able to float the boat. it looked like it was about 2 feet deep after the end of the concrete. You could see tire tracks in the mud on the bottom where they launched. I bet its 5 to 6 feet from the dock to the water line.

    I stopped at the Coast Guard launch at sodus yesterday. They have all kinds of room on the other side of the parking lot for construction equipment. Just doesn't make any sense.

    water temp was about 37.5. Pretty consistent, didn't find anything more than a half degree from that.

    After driving to Sodus and learning the town launch is too shallow we treked over to the Genesee. That launch is plenty deep. The concrete ramp extend well past the depth needed to launch a 23' Parker. Use the middle or south bay. The north bay has broken concrete. Went east far enough to get out of the muddy water and picked away at the Brown Trout. Not great, but good to get out there.

    Anyone know if that launch is of adequate depth? Quite an ordeal just to find a boat launch right now!

    Does anyone know if the pay launch behind what used to be Warren's Hook Line and Sinker is still useable.? What about the town launch just past Arney's? Thanks for any info.

    Parker 2320 SL Over 8 ft of room from the transom to the bulkhead door. More fishing space than alot of 28 footers! (Of course I am biased)

    Interesting that you had slow day. I was on Niagara River, had a friend on Keuka, and another friend on the Salmon River. All very slow going.

    Disappointing...one would think they would avoid the ramp to help bring in a few tourist dollars.

    Are they actually working on the ramp or are they just using the space for construction staging?

    Curious why you say they aren't made anymore? I found many on line and they are still listed on their website. I'm interested because that's what I run for Brown trout.

    Posting for an acquaintance. Looking for someone to replace an under floor fuel tank in an 18 ft boat. Floor is Glass covered wood. Anyone know of someone to perform this service? Boat is south of Utica NY. Thanks as always for the good info.

    Lithium Ion Batteries are starting to come down in price. Up front cost is high, but life cycle cost is lower than lead acid. And, the batteries are much lighter.

    BTW that slam was aimed at Cannon, as that is the factory silicone job. I've said it before, if you look at the coating on a PENN electric downrigger board you will see what potting is supposed to be like. OK, I need to let it go!

    There is no harm in taking a jumper (Piece of wire with two alligator clips) and shorting out the resistor. If it runs then you have an open circuit in the resistor.

    I see one that is highly suspect...!!!!! And i just love the attempt at waterproofing the board with some half assed silicone.......

    FWIW The down speed is reduced via a resistor in series with the motor when the down relay is activated. It is done because the motor running in conjunction with gravity pulling the weight down is too fast. That being said the voltage at the motor will be 13.8 VDC (Nominal) while raising the motor and something less when lowering. On thing to try immediately upon a failure is to identify the solder joints where the relays connect to the board , and touch each of them with a drop of solder. I found cold solder joints a few times. I have 5 Cannons and they are poorly designed in many aspects. I inherited them on the boat when I bought it, so that's why I am living with the problems.

    What are the qualities and who makes a good quality cover for an 18 ft Alumacraft. It must be able to go down the road without flopping around. My experience with straps and plastic buckles is they aren't strong enough to keep from coming unfastened. I'm willing to pay for something that works well. Thanks for any advice.
