Superhawk, You mentioned no landlocks, quite a few lakers, but any browns or rainbows trolling? Just curious. Thanks in advance.

Graduated in 2005. Miss not being on the lake being able to go out in between or after classes to do some fishing.

New things on the horizon for me. Looks like I'm moving to the area. Just recently got a new job and will be starting during the first week of July. My fiance is from the Canandaigua area, so I'll most likely be doing a little more fishing on Canandaigua and Keuka (since it's a little more familiar to me, I went to Keuka College and fished there quite a bit) as opposed to up here around the Watertown area. I'll miss the opportunities up here, but am looking forward to different hunting and fishing opportunities down in the finger lakes. Shallow runners around 6:00 to 6:30. Storm was coming in so the light was fading somewhat. There was another boat out around the same spot I was in. I was out around Shangri-la off Pt. Peninsula.

Did some trolling this evening before the quick rain came through. Water was very calm early and late afternoonish. Caught two walleye: one 25" about 5.5 lbs and the other 27" about 6.25 lbs. Caught the two around the same area on the sale lure about 15-20 minutes apart. The bite was around 6 or 6:30ish. Used stickbaits rapalas and smithwicks. Ate the cheeks tonight and froze the rest for later. Good times!!

I'm actually from Chaumont and currently live there. We're not that tight lipped about the fishing. I hear everyone speaking of where the fish are biting and when they are biting just living here. Quite a few walleye around this winter for ice fishing. Any of the walleye that I've had out of this part of the lake have tasted great to me. Maybe they taste better in the winter though. The last ones that I've tasted were in December and January during Ice. Glad to help anyone out about tips if they need any. Best bets would be trying Black River Bay, Guffins Bay, Chaumont Bay and Mud Bay. Heard of a few guys catching fish real early when the sun isn't even up yet. Lots of walleye were caught this winter in the areas mentioned above. Tight lines everyone!

I would recommend the Church boards. The tx-6 or the tx-12's should be fine for the finger lakes. The tx-6's are quite small, but have proven to work well for me on Keuka. The tx-12's are bigger and more versitile if you're going to be on some bigger water. The tx-6's and 12's don't have a flag that fits them to tell when a fish bites. There's a couple larger models (tx-24 and the walleye boards) which are very similar to each other. Those models can be rigged up with a flag so you can tell when a fish bits. The fishing club still has the same site as when I was at Keuka. Last time I spoke to people at the college they told me the fishing club is still going. Wish I could of stuck around and made a little more out of it, but thats ok as long as it's still operating. Also, look in the top right picture and I'm the one in the white shirt all the way to the left. We did fishing charters at the end of the year my last two years at Keuka. It was great to see others get into fishing. Another good thing is that we had mostly girls in the club. : ) It's interesting to learn that most everyone who I ever talked about fishing to said they fished at some point in their life (mostly when they were young). Fishing, as well as hunting, hold an important niche in American society and our past.

Howdy to everyone. I was a member to the forum before all the problems came about quite a while ago. I'm just coming back in full force now. My online name is Troutman10. My real name is Wes. I'm from the Watertown, NY area where I mainly like to flyfish small streams for trout, troll for walleye and bass and jig or troll the finger lakes for trout (mainly keuka). I attended Keuka College and graduated in the spring of 2005. While I was there I started the Keuka College Fishing Club and carried out the Keuka College Fly Casting Tournament for my 400 level Sports Management class. I was recently engaged to a great girl from the Canandaigua area and am looking to move to the area ASAP. I'm excited to get down there, eventhough I will miss home (it's only a couple hours), get a job and live life. My boat is a 2001 Lowe open bow at 16.5 feet with a 15 hp Suzuki 4 stroke. The best day I've had in my boat was when I had a 20+ lake trout day on Keuka Lake in September of 2005. Gas prices have really kept me from fishing the fingers for this spring which I regret, but I'll be living there soon. Glad to be back. Have a good one! Tight lines everyone!

SinDale, I was doing some jigging and the perch had shut off. Next thing I know I had a fish on my line when I jigged up. I was doing some long jigs up and down to try and attract fish b/c I thought the perch were gone for good. Didn't know what it was at first as it wasn't doing much, but then it did take a good amount of line out. I was in my shanty and had my friends right next to me in their shanty. I was afraid that the fish was going to tangle into their lines and mess them up. Had to stick my pole down the hole when I was fighting the fish b/c my pole would have broke or my line would have broke if I didn't put the pole down there. Fun times!

I know it's a little late b/c it's May, but I haven't been that active on here lately. Work has been keeping me busy. So here's some pics from this winter. I'm from Chaumont, so most of the pics are from Chaumont Bay. Caught more Walleye this year than ever before, caught some nice pike on jig poles (including the one below, 10.5 lb, 34") when fishing for perch. Perch were bigger and more plentiful this year. I'm familiar with that bay as I went to Keuka (graduated in 2005). The bay you speak of is quite shallow in some spots, so I would target some warmer water species. I would stay in the bay especially if you don't have a motor. The wind can rush down the lake pretty good at times. Largemouth usually congregate close to docks on Keuka during this time of year when the water is just getting warm. Careful not to get too close as they are spooky. There's some big ones around. My brother caught a 6.5 lb largemouth when we were dock fishing and we saw some larger ones than that. You might run into some pickeral (they get quite large in Keuka, I remember catching them around 24-25 inches). Look for smallies, perch, sunfish and other panfish. Senkos will work around docks for the largemouths, spoons (kastmasters) or stickbaits (rapalas) should work for the pickeral. Worms should be fine for anything really. Good luck!

Got out yesterday for some ice fishing in Chaumont Bay for the last time this season despite 14" of ice still. Perch were nonstop with the water being a little off color due to run off and maybe some spawning. Fished in 10-15 ft. of water and caught half a bucket in a couple hours. Would have stayed longer and caught more but ran out of bait. Overall a decent season up here.

Deep V Lowe w/ a 15 hp Suzuki 4 stroke, Prefer catching trout over anything (fly fishing especially), have experience fishing on Lake O. from Sackets to Chaumont areas as well as Keuka Lake (went there for college). Recently got into hunting deer and turkeys. I'm excited for spring!
