  2. I'll most likely be out there Sunday depending on youth sports sat. Good luck to all!
  3. Appreciate the help guys. I'll keep all that in mind when I'm using the downriggers next. I have a feeling I'll get into the fish sooner or later.
  4. Thanks for the quick responses. I'll keep those things in mind. Will have to throw out a spin dr and fly next time. Also, forgot to add this one in there.
  5. I have limited experience with downriggers. My boy and I have been out a couple times trying them out for the first time. We've been out on one of the fingerlakes trying different depths and lures. We've set one rigger low for Lakers and one higher just to see what we can get. Can someone decode what's going on in some of the pictures? I'm assuming I'm having some fish checkout my deep set as I go by but they're not committing. Maybe i'm scaring them away with the ball? My speed has been around 1.8-2.0 mph. Should I slow down? Try shorter/longer distance behind the ball? Been using gambler rigs with cowbells, and stingray sized spoons down deep.
  6. I searched all over for the traxtech and got no where. Finally was able to order some at rodtrees.com. Took a bit but have worked great.
  7. Thanks for the heads up
  8. I see copper rods are usually set up in 250, 300, 400 etc. I'm not familiar with depths for each size. Can you elaborate?
  9. I've heard a fish hawk is a great upgrade...been considering one.
  10. I'm new to wire diver rods and was sent the following link by a fellow LOU member. https://www.ebay.com/itm/184982323137hash=item2b11ce3fc1:g:eOcAAOSwEtZg0jEc I have them rigged and ready. They seem decent for just getting into it. Have yet to use them. The guy selling them on ebay seems to have other setups as well. Hope this helps.
  11. Thanks for the help everyone. Used super glue. I'm sure hot glue or epoxy would have done the job too.
  12. Nice report Reel Doc! We went outa ibay without any luck in the rough seas. How deep were you fishing? Is that an atlantic? Ps Those great lakes planers trees are workin great
  13. Also just looked did a search on here and saw most recommended super glue.
  14. Got a couple wire dipsy setups. Looking to install the included twili- tips. Was able to watch a video installing with magic patch. The instructions recommend super glue. Does anyone else have other recommendations or experience with other adhesives?
  15. I bought some dipsy combos and will be fishing the finger lakes mostly. Should fly sizes be downsized for the fish I'm anticipating to catch in the fingers or should I fish the same size flies sold for lake ontario? I see names like atomik, rapture, Howie...etc. Not necessarily looking for anyone's favorite pattern. Thanks in advance.
  16. Sounds like an exciting solo trip, good job! How deep were you?
  17. Thanks for your help! I'll check out the links.
  18. Thanks for the heads up. Gonna have to pick some up. I've seen your reports and video using the chinook diver right behind the boat. Do you fish that setup mainly when the water is murky or is it succesful on clear water days as well? Ran a chinook diver the past couple trips out but maybe wasn't giving them the color or size lure they wanted.
  19. Was looking to purchase some of these but maybe it would be easier to buy everything separate and put it together?
